3/21/2018 Update:

Bogart was ADOPTED!!!!  We are so excited Bogie has found his forever family.

What better way to start Spring than to meet your new forever Mom and Dad? Just ask Bogart, that is how Spring started for him.  Bogart’s Rescue story started when he was found in a small town alone on the streets as a stray. The interesting thing was Bogart was wearing a harness when he was found. Since stray dogs typically don’t wear a harness, it was hoped his owners would quickly claim him at the shelter.  The shelter staff posted him on numerous sites and waited, one day turned into one week and then longer with no one stepping forward to claim Bogart.  After multiple weeks at the shelter with no one claiming him, the shelter staff began to think he may have been dumped. They reached out to NBBR to help, since they felt a breed specific Rescue would be the best for Bogart.

Bogart’s forever family lives in an area of the country that doesn’t have a Bulldog Rescue and they wanted to be able to give a Bulldog in need a home, instead of buying a puppy.  As fate would have it, they found NBBR and started the process to become an approved family.   Bogart’s new parents previously had a Bulldog, knew the joys of having a “little one” around, and wanted to experience that again. After completing the process, they were very eager to find “the one”.  They had already been researching our available Bulldogs and reading each story to see which Bulldog would be a fit.  After reading Bogart’s profile, they felt he was the one.  After several calls to Bogart’s foster family and our Adoption Coordinators, it was determined an official Meet and Greet would be appropriate.  This took some coordination since, if the Meet and Greet went well, they would be adopting him.  The coordination meant flights to Dallas, a rental car and pet friendly hotels on the way home, all of which his parents did without even thinking.

As you can probably tell from this write-up, Bogart’s Meet and Greet with his now forever parents went spectacularly. Bogart was a little shy at first but quickly warmed up and jumped in the car ready to head to his forever home. This is where the true bonding started. While Dad was relegated to chauffeur, Mom spent the trip cuddling in the backseat with Bogart.  While checking into their hotel room, Bogart decided he didn’t want to walk to the room, and it would be more appropriate for him to ride the valet cart to his suite.  (Bogart has successfully trained his new parents in record time).  Congratulations to Bogart and his Mom and Dad.

2/13/2018 Update:  Well hi there!!  I’m sorry I haven’t written in a while!  My foster parents have had this flu bug so we have been resting a lot and I have been such a good boy.  I have so much to share!! I recently went to visit Dr H because my foster parents noticed I was slow moving sometimes.  Dr H checked me out and gave me some medicine for my knee and WOW do I feel better!!  I don’t really even get grumpy any more!   My foster mom lays with me on the couch, and I lay my head right on top of her and sleep.  She starts laughing and wakes me up…. She said my snoring makes her giggle.  Well I have been getting along with all my fur siblings and making good choices too.  I can’t wait to have my own furever family.  I really would love a family that will let me ride in their car, snuggle with me, and give me lots of treats and kisses.  In return, I will be your best buddy, snuggle with you and love you unconditionally.

Till next time….
Bogart

1/14/2018 Update:

Well 2018 has proved to be full of new experiences for me!  My foster mom & dad have been exposing me to new opportunities.  You probably remember that I LOVE to ride in the car. Well my foster mom let me go for a ride and we went to this thing called a car wash!  I watched as the car was covered with soap and then the water sprayed at the window and I jumped!

My foster mom & dad are also working very hard with me so that I can hang out in the living room with my fur brother and sister.  When I am tired, I start to get fussy with them and have to go lay in my room and rest – but I am being told that I am a good boy and they can tell I am really trying.

I really love laying on the couch with my blanket.  When the humans have to leave the house they always ask me to go to my bed.  (This is only because I thought I was allowed to eat the cardboard Christmas boxes – I have since learned differently.)  Well, I have some exciting news!   On Sunday – the foster parents let me stay out while they ran some errands.  I used my best manners and slept the afternoon away.   I did wake up while they were gone so I got off the couch and pulled my blanket and pillow into my room and finished my afternoon nap in my room. They were very proud of me and I was very proud of my great choices.

So I’m trying hard to be patient – I would really love a forever family.  I would love to cuddle and be your couch partner.  My foster mom told me that we are just waiting for the perfect family…..Is it you????  I would love to meet you and call you mine!

Can’t wait to meet you…
Bogart aka “Bogie”

12/3/2017 Update:

Dear Santa,

This is Bogart, aka Bogie.  I have been such a good boy.  I enjoy staying with my foster family, but I’m asking you to please bring me my Furever Family.  Fluffy beds, toys and snuggles are always appreciated, but Santa, my heart longs for a family of my own!  I have been eating all my meals, I walk on my leash, love riding in the car,  I don’t potty in the house, and I always give love freely.

Santa, I’m sure you know that I try really hard to play nice with the resident bulldogs, but you know my secret….I would love to be someone’s one and only!  I would love to hang out with them and watch movies and even take naps together.

So Santa…..please have your elves be on the lookout for my furever Family and I promise I won’t eat your milk and cookies!

See you soon,
Bogie

11/22/2017 Update:  Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!  Hi, my name is Bogart, my foster-family calls me Bogie.  I moved in with my foster family last Thursday after seeing my vet.  He told NBBR that I needed to be neutered, had a tooth infection and an ear infection!  After being poked on at the vet, I was glad to go to my new foster home.  I immediately won the hearts of all the residents.  My people tried to feed me when I arrived and the foster mom was worried because I wouldn’t eat.  She hand fed me some really delicious mushy food and said I ate very good.  Well, I have to admit, when she spent all that time with me I really liked it.  So every time she came to feed me…..I nudged the spoon so she would feed me by hand!  She fell for it, until last night.  She said now that my tooth was better I had to eat like a big boy, and put my food in a bowl!  Can you believe it…a bowl!  Well, I just gave her my “I love you” look and she rubbed my ears and neck and sat down with me while I ate my food….out of the bowl.  She said we made a good team.  I’m going to eat out of the bowl from now on.  I’m feeling so much better.  There are two resident bulldogs that live here.  One is a boy, and he is really cool.  He just sits on the couch and looks around.  The other one is a girl. Now, I like her, but she is always starring at me and wants me to play with this round thing.  My foster mom says she wants to play ball with me because I’m handsome.  Well, I’m not sure about the ball part yet, but I agree I am a handsome boy.   I have such good inside manners.  I always go to the door when I want to go outside and I don’t ever use my outside voice when in doors.  Well, I’m going to go get some rest, activity makes me tired!  Till next time-  Bogie

11/17/2017 Update  Please welcome Bogart to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family. Bogart is a 5 year old male English Bulldog that weighs 60 lbs.

Bogart was found in a small town alone on the streets as a stray. The interesting thing was Bogart was wearing a harness when he was found. Since stray dogs typically don’t wear a harness it was hoped his owners would quickly claim him at the shelter.

The shelter where Bogart came from did not have a vet on staff, so we were unsure what condition he may be in when we picked him up.  Bogie made a quick stop at the clinic for a check up and to schedule his neuter surgery (Monday).  All in all it was a pretty good report.  He does have an ear infection, and something going on with his leg, but he is negative for both Heartworm and intestinal parasites. We were able to get Bogie up to date on all of his vaccines and ready for his surgery.

Bogie joined his foster family and quickly settled in with his foster fur brother and sister.  Initial reports say that he is a very happy go lucky guy.  Combine a great personality with his rugged good looks and Mr. Bogart will surely be a hit with potential adopters. Stay tuned as we learn more about him and what makes him unique and special.
