10/2/2018 Update:

Our bully’s only ever break our hearts once, when they leave us.  Chunks was helped to the Rainbow Bridge on Oct 2, 2018.  She arrived at No Borders Bulldog Rescue in August 2017 as a family surrender.  One of our volunteers spotted on social media that her family was giving her away and reached out to see if the family would surrender her.  They made the difficult decision to do so.  Their family situation had changed, and Chunks was suffering because of it.  They didn’t know it then, but they literally saved her life by surrendering her.  Once NBBR had secured her, her first trip to the vet revealed a very large abdominal tumor was present and had to be removed.  Chunks was a tough girl from the get-go and not only survived surgery (and the removal of a 5.5lb tumor!) but went on to live another 15 months with her Foster Mom and Foster 4-legged sister’s Bella and Diamond.

From the moment she arrived, her gentle spirit commanded respect and she received it from everyone.  For the first time in her 9 years of being on this Earth she was allowed to sit on soft furniture and sleep in the soft bed with Foster Mom.  She had her favorite chair in the living room and chased anyone in it, out of it so she could sit there.  She was vocal when she wanted something, and funny when she played. Her soft spirit melted everyone’s heart as soon as they met her. She never met a stranger and seemed to love children most.  She decided when she wanted to be petted and sought out her person when she wanted that booty scratch that made the world all right.

She loved to play with her toys, ride in the car, sit on the back patio with her family and watch the world go by.  It was the fresh air that seemed to bring her so much joy, and she would lay for hours in the sun if only Foster Mom would let her.  She was a pillow hoarder, stealing all of the dog pillows and beds, piling them up on top of each other and then laying on all of them.  She often left everyone laughing with her crazy antics.

She was a special girl who never asked for much, but filled her family’s life with so much love.  Run free Chunkster, Chunkinelli, Chunkmeister, Chunky Monkey! We’ll see you in the stars special girl!  You’re forever in our hearts!

2/20/2018 Update:  Hi Folks, Chunks here reporting in on the art of the perfect fluff. A fluffy bed is important to me and getting it just right is truly an art form!  I have decided to put together a little “How To” video so everyone can learn the art of getting the fluff just right! Oh, and it does help if you steal other pillows along the way! Have a great week everyone!

1/14/2018 Update:  Hey everyone! Chunks here reporting in that while I freely  admit I am a pillow hoarder Fospice Mom says I am pretty cute about it. I only steal pillows that are open and available. I am not mean about it, I mean they are sitting there empty so what’s the hurt in piling them up and sitting on them?

I do want to say I have been fighting a chronic ear infection and I am grateful Fospice Mom can take care of me and No Borders Bulldog Rescue can provide my medicine. I am feeling much better now! Have a great week everyone!

12/24/2017 Update:

Hey everyone, Chunks here. You may remember me as the dog that survivd the removal of the 5.5lb abdominal tumor. You can see by how I like to sit on the sofa I am doing pretty well these days. Fospice mom let’s me sit on the furniture and I have to say I do love the feel of soft leather on my hinnie!
I have two sister’s that I love and Mom says I am real chill around them. I do have a confession to make tho, I am a pillow hoarder. Yes, it’s true. I steel the other dog beds and pile them all up so I can sit on all of them at the same time. My sister’s are not happy about that but what can I say, I need my cush for my tush! Happy New Year everyone!

8/12/2017 Update:  To say Chunks had a surreal week is probably an understatement. As part of Chunks joining the NBBR family, she was scheduled for what we thought would be a routine check-up.  Chunks joined Rescue with all of her shots being recently updated (rare occurrence). So we thought it would be a quick check-up and she would join her foster Mom and continue the process of settling in with her foster sisters.  When Dr. H inspected her, he found her abdomen was distended and felt it warranted an X-ray to rule out anything major.  Well, after the x-ray was reviewed it was found Chunks had a mass in her abdomen and she would need exploratory surgery to determine what it was.

Yesterday Chunks had her surgery.  Chunks had a blood filled tumor removed. The tumor was approximately 10 inches in length and weighed approximately 6 lbs.   The tumor was connected to several major organs and was also attached to a major blood vessel which made removal very difficult. BUT the good news is Dr. H was able to remove the entire tumor.  Chunks spent the evening at the clinic so the staff could keep a close eye on her.  This was by far the best prognosis we could have hoped for Chunks.

Today Chunks will be leaving the clinic and joining her foster Mom and sisters. Chunks’ job now consists of crate rest and getting as much love as one Bulldog can handle. Any surgery is a big deal for a Bulldog, but for this almost 9 year old lady this surgery was MAJOR surgery. Please keep Chunks in your thoughts and prayers as she continues to heal and get back to the bubbly, fun loving Bulldog she was before this bump in the road to find her forever family.

8/9/2017 Update:  Please welcome Chunks to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family. Chunks is an 8-year-old female English Bulldog weighing 50lbs.

Chunks’ family had a life that got a bit crazy after the birth of their daughter. Chunks’ family could no longer provide the care and love that Chunks deserves so they made the difficult decision to surrender her.

Chunks has been staying with her new foster mommy since Monday. Foster mommy has two other English Bulldogs and Chunks does not have a problem with either of them. Chunks had a sister that went to live with another family member so she is used to being around other dogs. She is as sweet as they come and will do anything to have her booty scratched for hours! She gets excited to see anyone walking into her room but does not jump on them! She is well trained, housebroken, will go in a crate although it doesn’t appear to be necessary and doesn’t ask much of anyone. Chunks’ favorite thing is a clean fluffy dog bed right out of the dryer! She often sleeps most of the day on her fluffy pillow as a low energy bulldog.

Chunks loves to be brushed and will sit for a bath but it is not her favorite thing in the world. She understands a girl needs to smell fresh and clean to find a forever home and so she tolerates what she must when it comes to bathing. Chunks gets around well for an 8-year-old bully. Her previous family didn’t allow her on the furniture so she is not quite sure what to think of foster mommy letting her up on the couch and bed. She is a ‘fluffer’ making sure the spot where she sleeps is perfect for her!

Chunks seems to be adjusting well and loves to lay out in the backyard. She is quiet and loves to watch people walking past the rot iron fence. Her prior family did state that she is not a fan of cats and often spends time barking at them. She would probably do well not to be in a home where cats are present. She is a tender gentle spirit and will make a great companion for a home looking for a low energy type of dog.
