12/14/2017 Update:

Ernie was ADOPTED!!!!  It is with great pleasure we are able to announce that Ernie has found his forever family.

Ernie joined the NBBR family about a month ago. He was being sold on Craigslist by a family that didn’t have time for him.  When Ernie joined his foster family he was a little nervous at first. But…after about two days of giving everyone side eye, he started to come out of his shell. He began to play with his foster brothers and started to relax.  It was decided that Ernie would do best with a family that had someone at home during the day.  Having grown accustomed to being with his work from home foster dad, it was apparent that he liked the attention. So with that and a list of “must haves” for his forever home, Ernie started the search.

Well…. Ernie found a family that met all of his “must haves” and MORE. Ernie hit the jackpot with his new family.  He now has a new Mom, Dad, a human brother and sister and a canine brother.  It is very obvious that Ernie will be spoiled rotten.  When his new forever Mom and sister arrived at his adoption today, they had already been shopping for Mr. E.  They had a new coat to keep him warm, a new leash and harness and a new bowl for dinner time.   Ernie had already met the entire family (except for his fur brother Julius) at our event last weekend.  It was love at first sight for everyone involved. So much so, that we don’t think they put Ernie down the entire time they were there.  Ernie was in Bulldog heaven with all the attention and the fact that he got carried everywhere was a bonus in his eyes.  Congratulations to Ernie and his entire family.

11/13/2017 Update:   Please welcome Ernie to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family.  Ernie is a 1.5 year old male French Bulldog that weighs 23 lbs.

Ernie (like MANY of NBBR Bulldogs) came to us as an owner surrender by way of Craigslist.  Ernie was listed on Craigslist by a family that claimed they did not have time for him any longer. Ernie, like many other Craigslist dogs, was not neutered and a potential “breeder” dog.  A good Samaritan worried Ernie would end up in the wrong hands and a life of neglect, paid the “small rehoming fee” and quickly surrendered Ernie to NBBR so we can help him find a forever family worthy of his cuteness.  While talking to the family, our volunteer was told Ernie was up to date on shots.  However, when we spoke with their veterinary office, that was not the case. Ernie had not been to the vet in over a year.

Ernie first stop was to the clinic to get a complete “Welcome to Rescue” workup.  We received good news in that Ernie’s vital organs are all in good health and he is Heartworm negative.  However, in addition to his neuter, Ernie did require nare surgery. Previous to the surgery Ernie had a very difficult time breathing because his nostrils were almost completely closed. Ernie did well with his surgeries and is resting comfortably with his temporary foster home.

We have learned a couple of things about Ernie in a short amount of time.  Ernie does not like to ride in the car. He gets very anxious in the car. He gets so nervous he will just sit and shake.  Ernie can be a little shy at first but he warms up quickly.  It appears he has not had a lot of human socialization.  He does appear to get along well with other dogs.  Ernie will need a little practice to perfect walking on a leash, he isn’t horrible but he does tend to want to go his own way.  He is crate trained and has not had any accidents in the house.  Ernie seems to be a work in progress with MUCH potential.  An already great dog just waiting to become the pampered Frenchie he was always meant to be.
