7/1/2017 Update:   Eva was ADOPTED!!!  It is with GREAT pleasure we announce Eva has found her forever home.

What better way to start the July 4th Holiday than to be able to share it with her new forever family?  What an incredible first year Eva has had. She has gone from abuse to love, untrusting to trusting, scared to more confident, all in a matter of 5 months. Eva’s foster parents (two sets) have worked very hard to help her with her transformation.  They knew Eva needed time, patience, love and understanding to allow her to trust humans again.  Eva went from a dog that would cower and growl in fear, to the loving, happy and sociable dog we knew she could be.

Despite how far Eva had come, it was still going to take just the “right” family for her to feel comfortable enough to allow them into her life.  That special family had fallen in love with Eva, by reading her story and seeing pictures of her. They knew they had the love and patience Eva needed. BUT, the final decision was Eva’s.   From the moment she met her new family, she was in love. She immediately ran to them and gave them her own special “hug” that she only gives to those she trusts.  When they saw that, her foster parents knew it was a fit. They were confident she had not only found, but chosen, her new Mom, Dad and Big Sister.

Eva has been on an amazing journey this last year, a journey that led her to her forever family and home. A family and home that will show her a lifetime of love and attention. The love and attention she has always craved and deserved. Congratulations to Eva and her entire family for finding one another.

6/24/2017 Update:  Eva update: I had a very good week, officially sleeping with my foster brother full time now, and I love it!!!!

Today I had to wait for the rain to go away so I could run and play in the grass for a few minutes, because let’s be honest, this is Texas and it gets hot after it rains!!

It was so bright that when I looked up to do some bird watching I had to close my eyes…..but that didn’t stop me, I was fixated on those birds when my foster mom took these pictures. I sure hope my forever home has lots of birds to watch.

I’m getting so much better with my manners. I hear “good girl” all the time when I do something right, I kinda like being called “good girl”, it makes my booty wiggle when I hear it.

If you want to be my forever family, head on over and fill out that application so NBBR can get you approved!!! Until next week……..

6/11/2017 Update:  After a sleep over at her first foster parents house while we were away on vacation, we were very happy to see that they had continued to work with her just as they had in the past. When I dropped her off she was so very excited to see Titan!!! Once she came home we were excited to see that her and Rocky had not forgotten each other and it was like she was never gone (ok, except for the eye roll that Rocky gave me when I came strolling up with her). She continues to make great strides every day. She has settled down as far as being scared of things, and when she is, again we put them on the floor and let her walk up to it to show that it’s not going to hurt her. The cats……………she makes me laugh every day with the cats. She runs right up to them, gets real close and then cocks her head to the side and just looks at them……..then she runs away……it is so very funny to see. We have introduced her to several people that have come over to the house and she is always so friendly to them, so this week I am going to get adventurous and bring her to work for the whole day to see how she does in a new environment, I think she will do great as long as she is with me and knows that I am not going to let anybody hurt her and I think she will be surprised on the amount of love she will receive up at work. She loves her kennel, sometimes when we leave and return we find her either in her kennel or on the couch. She is so very sweet and a lap dog. She will sit in your lap or lay in the bed with you as long as you will let her and just wants love.  She also loves to run and play in the back yard. She runs the length of the yard while jumping on the things she “sees” out there (which we think might be imaginary at times!!!

5/7/2017 Update:  Eva had a great week her first week with her new foster family. She is coming out of her shell quite a bit. She still gets scared of new noises, but as long as you show her it is not going to hurt her she warms up pretty quickly. Her and her foster brother Rocky are getting along GREAT. They were BOTH even running and playing with each other last night (I know that is hard to believe that Rocky actually ran, but he did!!). She still has some puppy in her, as far as a lot of energy, but if you are quiet and settle down she wants to be up on the couch or bed with you to sleep. She will take all the love you give her in mass quantities, and just wants to “please”. She still wants to be the alpha dog in the group, but is slowing getting over that. We continue to work daily with her and see improvements daily.  This is a new week and we will see what this week brings with her and are already blown away with the progress she has made with the transition!!!

3/6/2017 Update:  Eva…..where to start.  She really has a loving heart.  Some of you may think not after Saturday, but I can tell you that is not a normal side of her.  Saturday was just a lil much with the crowd in such a small space.  I believe it brought back memories of her past and that is a place she does not want to return to.  If you were to see the side of her that we see, the people I work with saw, you would know she is just a gentle baby.  When she is happy and excited she wiggles like a slinky.  Her whole body twist and turns, it makes us laugh how she can move like that.  We are use to bully butt wiggles, but she is totally a slinky.

This lil girl will make someone an awesome addition.  She needs a home that will introduce her to new things slowly.  Anytime she seems afraid of something we put it in the floor if we can and we sit there and encourage her to check it out.  It is going to take time with her, but I know there is a family out there who can offer her time and love.
I know she will be fine with another fur-friend, she just has to be introduced slowly, we did it with ours and Bruno, and she gets along fine with them.

2/27/2017 Update:  Eva has come a long way,  and just keeps getting better.   She is puppy and doesn’t always mind, but she is a puppy.

New things do scare her,  but we are always introducing her to new things.   We do have evil ceiling fans in every room. ….she just knows they are going to get her.   She is perfect on a leash,  she likes to watch tv(here she is watching and listening to the president) and is facinated with the airplanes when they fly over.
She will not trust you at first,  but if you will let her check you out on her own,  she will soon trust you.
We have had no food aggression, we can take her food,  put our hands in her food,  she sits at the table with the other dogs and we have no aggression with them if I am giving them snacks.

She is potty trained too.

She will need to go to a family that will be slow with her at first,  give her time to adjust.  They will have to earn her trust.

2/2/2017 Update:  Please welcome Eva to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family.

Eva is a 10 month old female English Bulldog that weighs 45 lbs.  Eva and her brother and sister joined the NBBR family yesterday from a “hobby” breeder situation.  The family bred their male and female Bulldog to sell the puppies to friends and family members. They were only expecting 3-4 puppies but had 8. They were able to sell 5 of the puppies but were left with 3 remaining.  Initially they planned on keeping them, but due to the chaos of having more than 7 dogs in one house they decided to get rid of the three “puppies”.   Good Samaritans worked with the breeder to get the dogs and then surrendered them to rescue.

It appears Eva and her siblings have had a very rough first 10 months of their life. As you can see from the pictures she has a HORRIBLE case of cherry eye.  All three of the siblings have the same eye conditions. Due to the condition of her eyes she currently does not see well. Eva is the “assertive” one of the three. She will be the first to bark if she is scared or uneasy. It appears that Eva may have been physically abused. Eva will cringe in fear when there are loud noises or fast movements around her at times and at other times she will bark to ensure everyone knows “she’s  the boss”.  This behavior appears to be a cover of her insecurity. The good news is that under her bravado, she has a very sweet personality and just needs time to learn to trust humans again.  She responds very well to calm, soft tones and treats. (She is a Bulldog after-all).

Eva has started on antibiotics to help clear the infection in her eyes in addition to eye drops twice a day.  Eva is scheduled to have surgery for her cherry eye condition and to be spayed early next week.  Based on what looks like months of neglect with her eyes she will most likely be on eye drops the remainder of her life.

Eva is resting at her new foster home where she is adjusting well.  Eva and her siblings were renamed to give them all a fresh start. When Eva’s foster parents met her they decided that Eva was the perfect name. Eva means “to live” and from what we can tell this is the first chance she has had to truly live the life she was meant to. Her new family is giving her plenty of rest and a nice calm environment for her to heal both physically and mentally. She has two new foster brothers (fur) that she is getting along with well. While they haven’t officially met, they have seen one another through the baby gate and everyone seems calm and ready to move to the next step. They will have to wait for that until Eva has a chance to decompress and she feels comfortable. This little girl has just begun on her road to complete recovery and, while we are sure she will be an amazing addition to someone’s forever family, it is going to take a lot of TLC and patience to get her to associate humans with love and not abuse. Please keep Gracie and her siblings in your thoughts and prayers as they begin to heal.
