SEX: FEMALE

BREED: OLDE ENGLISH BULLDOG

AGE: 1 yrs. old

WEIGHT: 31 lbs.

11/21/2016 Update:  Maci was ADOPTED!!!!

We are beyond thrilled to announce that Maci has found her forever family. After a very tough beginning to her life, Maci and her brother found their way into the NBBR family.  While everyone thought Maci would be the first sibling adopted, her brother Gump had other ideas and quickly found his forever Dad, leaving Maci to fend for herself in Rescue.

Maci scored the perfect foster family…she had human siblings, canine siblings and more love than any little dog could ask.  After many happy months with her foster family, Maci scored one better…a forever home of her very own.

While Maci was enjoying her stay at her foster home, her new forever Mom was looking for the perfect pup to call her own.  Her new Mom had never heard of NBBR and had never seen Maci. After being referred to NBBR by a close friend, Maci’s new Mom logged on and guess who the first dog she saw was???  Yep. It was Maci and she knew instantly that Maci was the one for her.

After meeting one another it was confirmed that it was a match made in heaven for both parties. Maci and her new Mom make a perfect combination. After a night of cuddling on the couch and snuggling under the covers their bond has only just begun. Congratulations to both ladies on the perfect match.

10/30/2016 Update:  Maci here again! Have y’all missed me yet? Things here are going fine… sleep, wake up, chase a cat instead of going to the bathroom, wonder why I can’t catch the cat, try to imitate cat sounds to lure the cat, give up before my foster mom goes bananas, go to the bathroom, head inside, eat… sleep… repeat. I’m living the dream, really.  My foster mom is finally getting her new house together, which is really cool because I now have a lot more room to chew on my benibone and ponder on new ways to catch the kitty that lives in the neighborhood. 😂😂😂.

My human foster brothers keep putting on very strange clothes. One of them keeps dressing up like a dog. I keep hearing the word Halloween, but frankly it doesn’t mean treats for me, so I ignore it. I do however question from time to time if they are going to dress me up as a human since one of them is dressed like a dog. Deep thoughts, by Maci the foster pup.

I just thought I’d check in and say hello again….I’m really excited to find a forever home! Not that I don’t enjoy myself here but I want to make room with my foster mom so she can save other Bulldogs from the shelter like she did for me!

10/26/2016 Update: Hey y’all, Maci here. I just wanted to say hello and let you know how things are going. Life as a dog is fantastic. I get to eat and sleep and play over and over again. I have a best friend that’s a Great Dane and we play until we just can’t anymore and pass out for a little doggie nap to wake up and do it again.

I’m really not fond of the paparazzi, if I see a camera I head for the hills. This probably why you only see pictures of me sleeping. My foster mom never gets the angle right and I end up looking HUGE! I’m not a fan of this since I work hard to keep my girlish figure.

I’ve found a new game I like to play. It’s called catch the bug. It’s so much fun. I really only get to play it outdoors but the time I did play it in the house my foster mom was very pleased with me. No bugs will be in the house on my watch

My favorite this to chase is still cats. Luckily I have yet to catch one because I don’t think my foster mom wants me to make a cat disappear. She totally freaks out if she sees me chasing after one.

My favorite part of the day is bedtime. My routine is apparently amusing to humans. I too, am a big fan. I love to dive into the pillows and try to make myself invisible. I burrow and get really small and pretend to be a ninja. My foster mom laughs every single time which makes me happy. I love making humans happy.

Sometimes I do get into the trash, but it’s rare and I have no rhyme or reason to my choice in when I decide to do it. I like to keep an air of mystery.

I now adore rides in the car. I used to be very frightened that when I was placed in the car I would be returned to the shelter….not ANYMORE. I now know that its going to be a great adventure and if my foster mom isn’t fast enough, I charge into the care any chance I get. I figure if I refuse to get out, she has to take me with her.

10/3/2016 Update: Maci is trying so hard to be patient with her foster family but she is getting really sick and tired of this unpacking business they keep doing. It cuts into all of her human playtime and she has just about had it 😂😂😂.  Her new playmates are tons of fun but Maci wants all of her foster mom and dads love and attention back on her! She has been using all of her cutest moves to get them to stop moving all of the boxes but it’s not working as well as she would like! Her foster mom has promised her that they will be done soon and Maci will be back to number one status in no time. Luckily, she still gets all of the cuddles and lovins at bedtime and when her little humans are awake. She has noticed they too think this moving business is for the birds!  She will keep pulling her hilarious shenanigans until this is done… her foster mom is totally okay with this because she brings lots of laughs. Maci has been helping her foster family ‘unpack’… oddly enough she is quite good at it. Her placement of the random objects she chooses is a bit odd but we suppose it’s how she likes it and as long as she is living with us she might as well have a say in where things go 😁👍🏻.

9/26/2016 Update: Maci has had quite an exciting week! Her foster family was moving so there was a ton of action going on. She didn’t stress at all and seemed to enjoy the excitement! She met two new best friends whose names are Kane and Zoey. They are much much much bigger than tiny Maci but she isn’t intimidated in the least.  She plays and plays and then sleeps and plays some more!  The only time precious Maci is even a little down is when it’s time for bed and she has to leave her two buddies behind to sleep with her foster mom.  She doesn’t let it get her down for long… she is all about burying herself in the pillows and finding her comfy spot!  Best cuddle bug EVER.

9/19/2016 Update: Our sweet girl is back to 100%!   Her allergies are under control and she is thrilled! She knows her medicine schedule now and she cannot wait to have her hot dogs laced with Benadryl!

Maci loves to be the life of the party, we had a few friends over last night and she  made sure she was front and center prancing around being a tiny ball of adorable.  Everyone just adored her and this pleased Ms. Maci very very much!
When socializing isn’t on the schedule Maci loves to sit on the armchair by the front window and keep a careful eye on the happenings in the neighborhood.  She very much enjoys when cats walk by and she makes sure the entire house is aware that she saved them from the feline persuasion.

Maci is also a great hunter of Chinese water beetles! This pleases her foster mom greatly. There has only been one hunt since she has resided with her foster mom but it was successful and she was rewarded greatly 😂😂😂.

Little Ms. Maci is still the cuddle bug of the year. Her bedtime routine is to do bulldog aerobics flipping about, burying her face in pillows and giving herself a back rub on the comforter. She seems to enjoy frolicking through the pillows the most and it is most definitely the highlight of her foster families night.

Maci is taking her second lease on life very seriously and enjoying it to the max!

9/11/2016 Update: Sweet little Maci hasn’t been feeling so well lately. Poor girl is apparently allergic to something in the air. But don’t fret her foster mom is on top of it and getting her back into tip top shape.  She doesn’t mind at all because it just means extra treats and she is all about that! She likes spending her time with her face right on top of her foster moms while they sleep so she can fully enjoy the extra snoring from the congestion. 😆.  She is getting lots and lots of lovins’ because that always helps when you’re not feeling 100%.  She hasn’t let it slow her down and she is as loving and playful as ever!

9/3/2016  Update: Hey, this is Maci! My foster family decided to take a trip to Austin and I couldn’t wait! They ran in for a potty stop (don’t worry they left the car running and the A/C on for us!) and I decided I’d pitch in and drive! My foster mom said it would be best if I didn’t since my legs are really short… I tried to say my foster sisters legs were extremely long and she was totally in! Needless to say, foster mom won and we will hang out in the back for the rest of the ride. I can’t be disappointed because I’m so so so excited to be in a car knowing they aren’t taking me to the shelter! It’s taken me a long time to get even a little excited because I was always so scared they were taking me back to that terrible place. I’m now super secure we are going to a fun vacation spot that I’m going to love!

8/29/2016 Update: Maci had such an amazing time this weekend at the meet and greet! She got to play with her other foster friends and meet lots of new furry and human friends. She loved how all of the humans told her how adorable and tiny she was. It made her feel sleek and sexy! Maci found great joy in sticking her little paws in her water bowl… She is such a silly girl. She wanted to go go go the whole time, she has become quite the social butterfly! By the time she got home she must’ve been worn out, she went outside to take care of business, took a quick drink of water and immediately started snoring.

8/14/2016 Update: Maci had such an exciting week! She went out to an early dinner with her foster family AND she got to go to Hollywood Feed for the No Borders Bulldog Rescue meet and greet! She loved meeting all of the other rescue dogs and had a blast interacting with all of the humans! She left feeling so good because everyone was telling her how cute and petite she was. Apparently she looks like a big girl in her pictures … Clearly her foster moms camera adds 10+ pounds 😀. So she wanted me to be sure to let the world know what a tiny tot she actually is.

8/11/2016 Update: Maci has come so far so fast! I was just thinking about it the other day as we were cuddling in the couch, thinking back to when she first arrived and would just sit in a corner staring at us. She now knows that she can go outside and come right back in. When she first got here she was hesitant to go outside and didn’t think she was allowed to come back in no matter how many times we called her… No more carrying this sweet pup back in the house!

Maci spent last night in a full on play session with her foster sister at 2am. After about an hour we had to cease and desist the playtime or nobody would’ve been able to get anymore sleep 😀. We are so glad that she knows she can have fun, but we are working on her turned around party hours.

Maci loves people! Where as before she would just sit in the kitchen when folks came over, she now greets them at the door and asks for lots of love and attention.  She loves being social!

She is filling out nicely now that she is getting food and sleep. Oh, and how she loves to sleep. She has quite the snore motor for such a little girl. She also snorts like a pig when she is excited. It is seriously the cutest thing EVER.

Maci has a heart of gold and is one of the funniest dogs I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.  She was super excited when a care package was dropped off at our door a few days ago. It came filled with treats, a new collar and a TOY!  A big thanks to the kind person who donated to bring such happiness to her heart. The whole family is working very hard on teaching Maci to play with toys. She doesn’t quite know what to do with them, as her outside life hasn’t allowed her such luxuries. But her foster sister and her two little humans are convinced they can show her the ropes on the joy toys bring!

If you’re looking for a super affectionate , hilarious dog with a heart of gold Maci is the one for you! P.S. She is not too into kisses so she will come right up to you and stick her tongue out a tiny bit for the littlest of kisses. If you’re looking for major wet sloppy kisses, this is not the dog for you 😆.

7/24/2016 Update: Maci is now the biggest love bug! She has overcome her fear of cuddling and loves to snuggle. She had a great time on her trip to Austin and is getting more comfortable with getting in a car knowing she isn’t going back to the shelter. When she is in the car she has a fabulous time and enjoys looking out the window and checking on her humans in the front seat.

Maci is a big fan of big and little dogs alike. She stayed with two chihuahuas last weekend and had a blast! She enjoyed spending her time playing with the other dogs and looking out her bedroom window at the world below. The only time Maci barks is when she wants to play… Doorbells are not her forte.

Maci is still a little skittish around her food. Not in an aggressive way, she just backs away if someone walks by her while she is eating. I think she was pretty low on the food totem pole at her last residence. Her foster mom and her foster dog sister are helping her get super comfy and keep letting her know it’s her food and it’s okay to eat whenever she pleases. Her foster sister has started laying down next to Maci while she is eating to make a little boundary so people don’t bother her (it’s sooooo cute.)

Maci is ready to meet her forever family. She will be so so so happy to know she is going to be part of a forever family!

7/17/2016 Update: Hooray! Maci has graduated to the next level! She not only knows her name but she is has finally found her comfort zone! Maci and her foster sister love to play. For some reason their favorite time is around 2am but I’m not complaining because they are both so joyous! Maci is a little mischievous… She likes to find things in the house and hide them away. She found a bag of bread the other day and put it right up next to her sleeping little human companion. Now she didn’t tear the bag or try to eat the bread, so I’m assuming she thought the sleeping boy was hungry and she wanted to take care of him 😀.

We think that she had a pretty hard life and wants to tuck away some things she thinks are special in case things go bad for her again. Luckily she isn’t very good at hiding stuff so her foster mom finds it and puts it away on a higher shelf. Her foster mom is just glad that Maci is comfortable enough to pull shenanigans and know she isn’t going to get in trouble. Maci is super duper funny. She has the whole family laughing all of the time watching her trot through the house with whatever prize she has found! Maci is full of joy and her little tail goes all of the time to show us how happy she is. She no longer hides in a corner and she has gotten used to the boisterous hustle and bustle of our home. She will now happily get on the couch but we are still working on teaching her to cuddle.

Maci had a great time at the dog park and she even got in the water. Her foster mom was really worried about her at first because she didn’t want her to get hurt. But she let her roam and play and Maci had a blast! She really likes other dogs and just wants to play play play when she isn’t sleeping. You may have noticed most of Maci’s pictures are of her in bed. That’s because she is very camera shy and isn’t a fan of the foster mom paparazzi. Maci is such a happy little girl and has come so far so fast. We are working in her leash skills… She may need a harness because she likes to be on the go.

Now for downside. Maci isn’t a fan of cats. Well actually she is a huge fan of cats… But not in a lets play kind of way. More like she can jump on to a dresser to try to catch the kitty kind of way! So I don’t recommend a home with an indoor only cat. Ours is indoor/ outdoor and we are working on a schedule so Maci stays off of her foster moms dresser 😂😂😂. This little lady will bring lots and lots of joy into your life. She is great with kids and dogs so that’s a plus! We will get her hoarding all sorted out before she comes to live with her forever family!

7/10/2016 Update: Maci, sweet Maci!  She has come so far in a short period of time. She loves to cuddle up with us in bed and at some point every night she curls herself right behind my legs.  She is slowly learning what toys are, thanks to her foster sister, but she isn’t quite sure what to do with them yet.

She got to spend five days with Gump and his foster dad last week and came home full of happiness and wagging nubbins! Maci is getting more comfortable with leashes and getting into cars. She isn’t quite as terrified that we are going to take her back to the shelter but we haven’t fully soothed her doggie soul quite yet.

Maci took a trip to the dog park with her foster sister and her two human brothers and ended up having a great time! She kept taking off back to the gate to greet all of the new dogs coming in.  Her foster mom had a collar and leash on her but apparently it’s a smidge too big and she would take off leaving her foster mom walking just a leash and a collar! She wasn’t interested in the water until she saw the other dogs jumping in playing fetch, at that point she didn’t hesitate she was in it to win it. Well, she had no idea what the frisbee was but she had a blast during the water races to get to it.

All in all Maci has come a long way.  She is absolutely adorable and really really funny. We are just so glad she is allowing herself to be loved!

7/3/2016 Update:  Maci is such a sweet girl. She wants all of the love but she is afraid she doesn’t deserve it.  She loves to lounge in bed with her foster mom but if we try to sit on the couch with her she boot scoots and won’t cuddle. We think she spent a lot of her life outside because you can see her pleading eyes when we go out to potty and she has quite the hesitation when coming back in, even though her foster mom stays right out there with her. She is uncertain of what toys are but we are working hard to teach her she is allowed to have fun.

She came through her surgery with flying colors and she loves loves loves to take her pills with turkey. When she gets excited she makes the cutest little piggy sounds I’ve ever heard. Now that all of the yucky stuff she had inside of her is gone she seems to be totally fine going potty outside! The poor girl was just super sick when she arrived and she couldn’t help the accidents.

Maci doesn’t get frightened by thunder which is great because we had a doozie of a storm the other night and she was the only one in the house blasé about the earthquake like thunder. She also doesn’t seem to mind vacuums. She doesn’t love it but she sits and watches her foster mom go crazy with the shop vac.

I think there may have been a lot of yelling in her old house because we are a loud family and sometimes I realize she is cowering in a corner, so we are trying our best not to be so boisterous!  Hopefully she learns that these are joyful noises and not anger… Until then we are trying to keep our excitement to a minimum.

As for cats she seems to be fine with them. She just wants to make friends she doesn’t seem to care what breed they are. She is also great with the kids. They are 5 & 6 and trying very hard to teach her to play and enjoy life.

One thing Maci does not like is going for car rides. She is terrified that she is going back to the shelter.  This happened when we took her to the vet and when we took her to see her brother for a few days when we were going out of town.  It absolutely broke my heart.

All in all she is making great strides and it warms my heart that she wags her little nubbin when she sees me now.

6/27/2016 Update: Please welcome Maci to No Borders Bulldog Rescue.

Maci and her brother (Gump) are from a group of dogs confiscated from a home that had no running water, limited electricity and owners who were wanting to “start a breeding program.”  One of the siblings was adopted, leaving the others to stay in the shelter.  After a month of no one willing or able to take them, the staff at the local shelter were desperately looking for rescue to step in.   NBBR made the 4 hour drive to get Maci and her brother.

Maci is an Olde English Bulldog that weighs 31 lbs. (very thin). Maci is very small She was covered in fleas and appears to have never had a bath.  Maci also had a case of worms as well.

Maci is currently more interested in other animals than she is of her new foster family (unless they have treats, and that changes the game immediately). She joined her foster family on Saturday and all seems to be going well. She is very nervous at first in new situations but does warm up to new surroundings with patience. Her behavior appears to be from never being socialized and/or possibly being physically abused. Maci went to the vet and was spayed and given medication for her skin infections. She is doing well after her surgery and she will start her journey looking for her forever home. Maci will need a family that is patient with her and one that has A LOT of extra love to shower on her. Does Maci sound like she could be the new member of your family that you are looking for? If so, please fill out an application.
