7/16/2017 Update:   Mocha was ADOPTED!!! It is with great pleasure we are able to announce this big boy has found his forever family.

Mocha joined the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family as possibly the largest Bulldog EVER!!! He tipped the scales at a petite 112 lbs.  He had skin and eye issues and was Heartworm positive. With that list of ailments, we knew he would be with his foster family for at least 2 months. It was Mocha’s foster family’s first foster, and they knew it would be heartbreaking when they had to say goodbye to him.  However, when Mocha met his forever family it was love at first sight for everyone involved.  Mocha’s foster Mom said she had never seen Mocha so relaxed around anyone. It was a match made in heaven.  Congratulations to Mocha Bear and his entire family.

6/19/2017 Update:  Mocha is almost 100%. He’s healing nicely from his eye surgery and waiting for his furever home.

4/23/2017 Update:

Mocha had a big week. He had his second round of heartworm treatment. The vet said he’s doing well and that he lost 8 lbs! Because of his vet appointment, Mocha got to go on a mini-road trip with his foster mom, and we learned that he’s pretty great in the car. I’ve even managed to teach him to stay in the backseat, this is truly an accomplishment. Mocha got to meet some new fury friends too. There was only one small skirmish when a corgi tried to heard him because i guess he thought that Mocha was a cow. All in all, it was a good week for Mocha and his foster family.

4/10/2017 Update: Mocha is adjusting well to his new foster home and family. He and McGee are finally almost getting along. We’ve started leaving them alone together for short increments of time and there have been no issues.

Over the past few weeks we’ve learned of a couple of Mocha’s shall we say idiosyncrasies. First, he absolutely loves ice cubes. He took a softball size cube out of his water bowl and basically walked around with it in his mouth until it melted, so funny but kinda messy. Second, he loves stuffed animals. Not only does he love to play tug of war with them, he also likes to sleep with them. While sleeping, he either holds them in his paws and uses it as a pillow or he sleeps with it in his mouth and gently gnaws on it. It’s one of the cutest things.

3/27/2017 Update: He is such a sweetheart! We have started calling him Mocha Bear because while he is HUGE, he is such a gentle giant. His absolute favorite thing is belly rubs. He will roll over on his back, kick his legs, and beg you to rub his belly. It’s adorable.

While he is currently being treated for several maladies, he seems like a happy healthy guy. We have him on a very strict diet- no treats and only diet dog food- which he is NOT a fan of. He much prefers the peanut butter he gets with his pills every morning.

He has a bit of food aggression as does my other dog, so we feed them in different areas of the house. Other than that, he is very sweet to my 8 year old bully. The same cannot be said for her. She has tried to pick a few fights with him, but he usually just walks away, which is nice since he outweighs her by 60lbs

3/16/2017 Update: Please welcome Mocha to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family. Mocha is a male English Bulldog that weighs 112 lbs.

Mocha joined the NBBR family as an owner surrender. His previous family has had several changes lately, including heath issues, financial concerns and relocation to a new area.  With all that said, the family made the very difficult decision to surrender Mocha to NBBR so he could find a new family that can provide him with the love and attention he needs.

The first stop on Mocha’s journey was the clinic. Obviously we knew that Mocha would have to lose some weight, have his cherry eye corrected and possibly other “bulldog” related issues. Unfortunately, we found that Mocha is Heartworm positive, so this became the primary concern to treat immediately.  Mocha’s heartworm treatment will start tomorrow with step one followed by 30 days of rest and relaxation. After 30 days he will receive a second treatment followed by another 30 days of rest and relaxation.  Once he is heartworm negative, we will be able to address his cherry eye issues. Currently due to his weight and his weakened heart, it would be too risky for him to be under anesthesia.  In addition to the heartworm treatment, we are testing Mocha’s thyroid to see if that has anything to do with his weight.  Regardless of what we find about Mocha’s thyroid, he will be going on a strict diet plan to lose some pounds.

Mocha is definitely a BIG boy, but he is all lover boy. While staying with a temporary foster before his visit to the clinic, Mocha got along with all of the other dogs, showed he was crate trained and was a perfect gentleman. He is a complete gentle giant that wants to snuggle and be with his humans. Mocha will be on medical hold for 60 days but he would like everyone to know that he is ready to begin looking for his forever family NOW, so the perfect family will be ready for him when he is off medical hold.
