6/10/2017 Update:  We are  excited to announce that Penny was adopted this weekend to a precious family from Austin, TX.  Penny was in foster care for a little over two months waiting for medical clearance as she endured two rounds of heartworm treatments while recovering from skin infections, flea infestations, and intestinal worms.  Penny is now a healthy, beautiful 41 lb. bundle of pure greatness.

As part of her exciting weekend, Penny was named the Honorary Mascot for The Bowie Lady Bulldawgs and made her debut on Facebook!!! Even in the midst of stardom, she settled in beautifully with her forever family over the weekend and enjoyed hanging out with her fur brother Uno.

4/21/2017 Update:  Penny is such a little bundle of fun!  Her personality is quirky, and will keep you laughing for sure.  Penny is a very laid back dog.  She would be perfect for any age – 0-100.  She loves her snacks, riding in the car and being near her “family”.  Penny is both crate trained and house broken and walks on a leash like a champ.

3/27/2017 Update:  Penny is doing wonderful! She is half way through her heart worm treatment and her personality is beginning to shine.  She loves to be around you and has quickly learned the sound of the treat jar!  Her fur is growing back beautifully- it’s white and soft.  All of her red itchy painful sores are healed.   She loves to give kisses and hang out with her people! She gets along beautifully with her foster “dog siblings” and enjoys chewing on her toys.

“Love this Penny, pick her up….all the day you’ll gave good luck!”  Penny is looking for her forever family – and boy will they be lucky!

3/16/2017 Update: When Penny visited the clinic for her initial check up and to get her up to date on all necessary medical treatments, it was found that Penny is Heartworm positive.  She has begun step one of her two step treatment.  Currently Penny is doing well at her foster home while getting plenty of rest and relaxation. After 30 days of R & R she will revisit the clinic for step two of her treatment. This will be followed by another 30 days of rest and relaxation. Once her Heartworm status is negative we will have her spayed.

2/20/2017 Update:  Hi my name is Penny.  I’m excited to be settled in at my new foster family’s house.  I am 3 years old and have had a very interesting last six months.  I was staying with a nice family that helped me out of a very bad situation.  My new foster family brought me home and gave me a wonderful bath and they told me it would help remove all the fleas.    They fixed up the sores on my back and gave me some tasty treats for being such a good girl.  I ate a very nice dinner of duck and pear and wow, was it delicious!  I’ll keep everyone updated on how I’m doing, as I am on the search for my forever home.

2/19/2017 Update:  Please welcome Penny to the NBBR family.  Penny is a 3 year old female English Bulldog that weighs approximately 45 lbs.

Penny joined the NBBR family as an owner surrender. Penny was “rescued” from a very bad situation by a family that thought they would be able to care for Penny long term, however, after realizing her skin and allergies would take more resources than they had, they decided it was best if Penny join rescue and find the forever home she needs.

Penny arrived to rescue with fleas and appears to have allergies and a secondary bacterial skin infection. She joined her new foster family last night and was treated to a “spa day”. She was given a medicated bath, and started treatment on the open sores on her back.  She has also started on a limited ingredient diet that should help with her allergies.  She is scheduled to visit the clinic to determine what treatments she will need in addition to those we currently know.  Penny will also need to be spayed while she is at the clinic.

Penny is a sweetie and loves the attention of her foster parents. Her foster parents will be slowly introducing her to her foster siblings (fur). We will know more about her personality with other animals as she spends more time with her new foster family and her true personality appears. Stay tuned to find our more about Penny in the coming weeks.
