6/27/2017 Update:  After months of heartbreak, the furever family of Major (Sebastian) has come to terms that their sweet boy crossed the Rainbow Bridge in April.

He was a true joy to his family, and brought nothing but happiness to their home. He loved everyone, he thought he was a hound dog and would try to hunt rabbits in the backyard, he loved tug of war that he could only win, he loved the magic of a water sprinkler, although he weighed 80 pounds he was light as a feather when it came to running in the house to play fetch (sometimes he would even bring the toy back), he would snore so loud that his mouth would literally flap in the self-made breeze he created (thankfully he wasnt too gassy), he was a baby-gate escape artist, he gave his mom a 5 minute bathtime window before he jumped out of the tub, he would fuss until he got the full-fledged chest rub that he wanted and when you had something the smelled delicious (especially BBQ or chicken wings) he would counter-surf and show BOTH bottom teeth waiting for just one bite to fall…oh and when he saw (or heard) his harness everyone had to brace for the cannon ball of pure excitement that was coming at them at full speed….and we cant forget how great the world was when it came to him going for a car ride (he would force his way into the car – specifially the front drivers seats – but had to be carried out of the car as he was scared of heights and wouldnt get out by himself.)

Even though his heart was strong enough to recover from heartworms, and gave every ounce of love possible, his liver didnt say the same. After numerous visits to Dr. H, and a stay at the local pet hospital, there was nothing that could be done to help him regain liver function.

His mom still cries almost every day, and his dad finds it very difficult to talk about him.  The four short months that he was with his family were some the best days for them.  Even during his last days, he still brought a love to the family that was indescribable.

It has been nearly 3 months since Major has left us, but it literally feels like forever to his family.  We at NBBR knew of Major’s passing and have been in communication with his family, however the family asked that they be allowed to make the announcement when they were ready. Thank you to those that have kept this sweet boy in your thoughts…he definitley made an impact in his family’s life and will forever be missed.

2/26/2017 Update:  Sebastian has been ADOPTED!!  It is with great pleasure to share that he now has a fur-ever family.

He joined NBBR in December, with his sister Shelby, as an owner surrender, and has melted the hearts of everyone that he has met.  He loves everyone and has a huge heart that needed to be loved.

He first met his new family at the NBBR meet and greet in December.  A few days after the event, his family started fostering him while he was on medical hold for heartworms.  BUT as of February 10th, this sweet guy was free of heartworms and cleared to be adopted.  He is now able to go out to enjoy car rides and days at the park (when he’s not sleeping that is.)

His family is overjoyed that he is officially their new family member.  He grunts to wake his mom up EARLY in the morning for his walk, he huffs at his dad when he wants more chest rubs, and he paws his brother when he wants him to put down the video game – he is just AMAZING.  He has definitely filled the piece that was missing from the family and they say that they couldn’t imagine life without him.

1/14/2017 Update:  Sebastian has had  a full week. He went for his 2nd heartworm treatment (I was worried about him all day), overall it went great…30 more days and he should be good.

He’s starting to play with his toys more and more. He had an ET doll, but he tried to chew the eyes off, so ET went home (in the trash). Now his favorite toys are a moose and tug-of-war rope received in his Christmas stocking (THANK YOU to everyone that donated toys to NBBR for Christmas.)
His personality has really started to come out too, he “smiles” alot and gives tons of kisses. He get spurts of energy every now and then and will run (like a bunny) from one end of the house to the other, but forgets about the laminet floors…so he slides until a wall stops him. He makes us laugh. He’s amazing!

1/1/2017 Update:  We have learned a couple of things about Sebastian this week – he loves the sprinkler/water hose and he LOVES the car.  Also, at 10pm or so he’s ready to call it a night and will make his way to his bed all by himself.

His energy has improved, he still takes naps (a lot), but he is so happy and social – he is everyone’s friend when we have guests over, especially when there is a head or chest rub to be given.
He definitely likes being outside (which is understandable as he and Shelby were kept outside all the time) but we limit his time outdoors to go potty or maybe a walk or two during the week…we don’t want him to get excited too much…so he is inside almost all day.
We’re excited for his next vet visit to see his overall progress. We’re also looking forward to the NBBR event on the 21st, especially for him to see Shelby.  We just need to figure out how to get him out of the car (he doesn’t want to get out once he’s in the car.)

12/26/2016 Update:  Sebastian is such a joy to have in our home!! He listens so well, he’ll sit when told, and on his first day with us he showed us that he knows where the door is when he needs to go outside. (He also loves to look out the front glass door.)

We’re training him not to get on the couch which has been a bit of a challenge as we have several…but when we find him on one he will get down and then he requires that we give him a good 20 minute chest rub.
His beds finally came in today and after a little bit of coaching (and sitting on the bed with him), he understood.  Now he has a comfy place to dream, and snore, that is all his own…but he does enjoy the cold floors also.
He’s such a good boy.

12/10/2016 Update:  Please welcome Sebastian to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family. Sebastian is a 4 year old male English Bulldog that weighs 65 lbs.

Sebastian joined the NBBR family as an owner surrender with his sister Shelby. He was purchased from a breeder at the age of 8 weeks and had been with the family ever since.  We are not sure when things took a turn for the worse, but one of Sebastian’s human sisters contacted NBBR and asked if we could help re-home them since they were being neglected.  Sebastian was spending most of his waking hours outside. When he was allowed to come inside, he was immediately put in a crate with his sister.  Because of this treatment, Sebastian is craving human interaction, attention and love. He can get a little nervous in new situations but quickly warms up.

Sebastian visited the vet yesterday to get a check up and determine what medical treatments would be necessary. This was a new experience for him as had never been to the vet since he was purchased from the breeder. The first thing noted  (like his sister and littermate) was a case of cherry eye that had never been treated. The tear gland was not only HUGE  but was infected to the point it had to be removed or risk Sebastian losing his sight in that eye and possibly the eye itself. In addition to the cherry eye, Sebastian has some patches of skin infections which will require medicated baths and a round of antibiotics to cure.  While at the vet, he was tested for Heartworm and the results were POSITIVE. Due to being Heartworm positive, he will receive his first treatment and be on 30 days of crate rest and then another treatment followed by an additional 30 days of rest. Sebastian was microchipped and given all his necessary vaccines.

Sebastian is currently at the clinic receiving his first round of the Heartworm treatment.  Once released he will join his new foster family and begin his journey to full recovery. Sebastian is doing great at the clinic where he is a huge hit. We will know more about him and his personality once he has joined his foster family. Just like his sister (Shelby) he will need a family that is patient and willing to work with him on his inside manners.  Sebastian is a very smart boy and learns very quickly according to the clinic staff.  After years of being outside and having minimal contact with humans, he wants nothing more than to be with people and get the love he has missed.

Although a forever home can not happen before Christmas, Sebastian would want nothing more than to have a family submit an application to say they want him after he is released from medical hold. Does this sound like you? If so, help us make a little Bulldog’s Christmas the best he has had to date by filling out an application and getting the process started to adopt Sebastian.
