6/29/2017 Update:

Violet was ADOPTED!!! It is with GREAT pleasure we announce Violet has found her forever family.

Miss Violet joined rescue with a large purple spot on her behind.  To say she was a “hot mess” would be an understatement. No one knew what the purple spot was until she arrived at the clinic. Dr. H thought it was probably an anti-flea treatment used for large farm animals. Needless to say, that purple spot was the inspiration for her new name.  Violet was under weight, had intestinal parasites and skin issues.  Regardless of Violet’s past, it had not affected her personality. She was a loving Bulldog that just wanted attention and to be loved.

Violet’s forever family was approved to adopt several months ago but there wasn’t a “perfect fit” at that time. So, they decided to help and become a foster family “until the right one came along”.  Violet’s new Mom thought they would probably foster 2-3 Bulldogs before “the one” would come along. Well, Violet had other plans. She joined her “foster family/forever family” and it was love at first sight by everyone involved.  Violet now has a new forever Mom, Dad and two human siblings.  Violet LOVES her new human brothers and it is apparent since her tail never stops wagging when they are all together. She is very patient with them and loves nothing better than chasing them around until everyone is worn out. Congratulations to Violet and the whole family.

5/14/2017 Update:  So far the past 2 days of having Violet we have realized she seems to be attached to her new foster parents, and more discipline like towards her foster human brothers. She is like gum to our shoe (in a good way), very good off leash. She is also getting used to her name. She prefers the floor over the bed and couch, (although we have caught her on the couch when we leave her home alone, but she will not jump on when we encourage her to do so). She also prefers the hard floor over her bed (we are trying to encourage her to sleep on her bed with no luck at all.)

Violet has also shown a bit of her personality in such short amount of time. She has been so motherly over her human foster family.
Violet had a blast at Strut Your Mutt but still felt like she had to let others know she was the “Boss momma” around her new family. She is very calm and relaxed at home, loves to walk outside everytime she sees a crack in the door. Also noticed she isn’t a very big eater, (while it may be side effects to the medication she is on).

5/12/2017 Update:  Please welcome Violet to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family.  Violet is a 3 year old female English Bulldog weighing 45 lbs.

Violet started the week being sold online. We were contacted by a fellow Bulldog lover asking if we could take Violet should she be successful in getting her.  She contacted a friend who was able to raise the funds and started working on securing Violet – which was no easy task.  The seller  said yes, and then said someone else was coming to get her.  When that fell through, he contacted her again and said she could have her and scheduled a time to pick her up.  The plan was to meet at a gas station near his home in a not so great part of town.  The seller was a no show and gave his home address to meet his sister with the dog.

Thankfully without incident, the sister arrived and went to get Violet.  You see, Violet lived outside.  In a crate.  With no liner…just wire underneath her.   Apparently also outside with her was another dog and chickens.  Supposedly, Violet did not like the chickens and that was the reason she was being sold.

As the sister brought her out, immediately noticed was how thin Violet is and how she was clearly used as a money making breeding machine.  It was apparent she had had multiple litters of puppies.  Violet was also covered in something purple.  The sister said her brother had tried to treat Violet’s skin infection by spraying something on it.  Other than turning her purple it did not appear to have any affect on the condition of her skin.

When asked what the dog’s name was, the girl said she had a name when they got her but her brother didn’t really like it and he just didn’t call her anything.  For the last year, Violet was a nameless dog, living in a crate outside, birthing puppies for somebody to make money.

Violet is currently at our vet getting the care and love she needs and deserves.  Violet has ear infections, skin infection, she was covered in ticks and has a  broken tooth. BUT the good news is that she is heart worm NEGATIVE.  Which was a surprise to everyone.

Today Violet will be spayed and have her ears packed to address her infection.  While Dr. H’s staff gave Violet a bath yesterday and removed all the ticks, they were also able to rid her of the purple tint.   She will have a brief stay at the vet before heading to her new foster home where she will receive lots of love, sleep on a soft bed and be fed properly.
