9/4/2026 Update:
From the foster momma: Willow Allergies are doing better. She is doing better with bath time and facial cleansing. Still not a fan but tolerates it . I got her some oral hygiene chews from the vets and she is obsessed with them. The weather is cooling a little bit and she is not minding being outside a little longer.
She’s very sweet , loving and loves to be held. Walter and her are so wonderful together and truly love and enjoy being together.
8/2/2026 Update:
Willow is a sweet, very loving gal who lives up to every bit of the Bulldog reputation. She loves investigating around the house, but her favorite activity is pestering and playing with Walter. They are very close and have a wonderful connection. She is very much the snuggler and loves to be held.
She is incredibly sweet with people she meets. We are still slowly introducing her to other dogs and my granddaughter. So far, she’s been very great with younger children. She is incredibly food-motivated, which makes training her easier.
Because Bulldogs are prone to overheating, Willow will need an air-conditioned home and shorter, casual walks rather than strenuous runs. He would thrive best in a home with a family that can offer her a comfy dog bed, lots of hugs, kisses and plenty of love.
7/12/2026 Update:
Our mischievous snuggle bug Willow lives up to her description. She has slipped through the gate a couple of times and went to visit our kind neighbors both times. Fortunately, they find her irresistible as well and give her lots of love until foster mom tracks her down. Willow and our neighbor are both disappointed that foster dad fixed the gate today. As for her snuggling, she can’t get enough. Willow has foster mom on a schedule of three times a day where mom must pick her up and give her undivided attention and cheek to cheek snuggles or ear scratches. Walter knows to give her space during this sacred time.
Willow finished treatment for a UTI this week. Like Walter, there is still a stretch of time in the afternoon that she has accidents in the house. Unlike Walter, Willow does not like the warmer temperatures and her desire to be outdoors during the afternoon is minimal and completely understandable. Frozen bananas and watermelon help cool her off, but she does start to breather noticeably heavier when she is outside.
Willow is happy Walter’s zoomies are back so she can chase him around. Willow also loves cleaning Walter’s ears and morning/evening wrestling matches with him. They are quite the pair!
6/28/2026 Update:
Willow is a snuggle bug but also a little sneaky. She will not go to the bathroom, eat, or drink in the morning until she has been picked up and held for morning snuggles. Yeah, she has foster mom and dad trained.
Willow is due for a trip to the vet. She has a history of UTIs and allergies. She also has a tendency to vomit. We are trying to make sure to give her a little treat at night so she doesn’t wake up with an empty stomach. Otherwise, she may just be eating and drinking too fast.
On the bright side, her new diet of salmon and sweet potato dog food has helped settle her stomach.
Willow spends her days in the home office with Foster Mom, either under the desk or with her head on the window sill. Besides typical bulldog health issues, Willow is still having occasional accidents in the house. We have a solid routine in the morning and believe she will keep improving.
Chasing squirrels or her brother is how Willow gets her exercise. She does well on short walks, but don’t push her or she will throw out the anchor.
Willow craves attention, cuddles, and snuggles. Fair warning that she will not let you pet her brother unless you have a free hand for her.
6/11/2026 Update:
Willow recently had to be treated for an UTI and some allergy issues, but some meds and a shot took care of that. She is back to normal and really starting to settle in her new home. Routine is the name of the game for her. As said before she is a snuggler in every sense of the word. She is never not in the mood to sit in your lap, watch some TV on the couch or just take a long nap. She will lay still and snore very lightly and rhythmically. She is a great dog once you figure her out.
5/25/2026 Update:
Willow is a girl who has just been through the ringer in life. Having babies and more babies wears you out, but it teaches you how to love. Willow just wants to give love and get love. Nothing and I mean nothing happens in the morning until there is a long cheek to cheek snuggle. Periodic repeat snuggles throughout the say are a must. She loves to cuddle up and go to sleep. If you are unavailable, Walter fills in. Whether he wants to or not. She will just sit on him if she is not sleepy. Willow is the ruler of the roost. She is sweet but stubborn.
3/24/2026 Update:
Please welcome Willow to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue. Willow is a female French Bulldog that is 4 years old and weighs 28 lbs.
Willow joins the No Borders Bulldog Rescue by way of owner surrender. Willow and her brother Walter are a bonded pair that have had a bumpy life lately. Prior to September their history is almost non-existent. They were purchased as a set by a local family after they lost their previous Frenchie. They were told one story and found that the most of that information was incorrect. After many trips to the vet the family decided that they were not able to care for Willow and Walter any longer. They contacted NBBR and asked if we could take them in and find them a home (together). For those not “in the know” with Rescue these days, finding qualified foster homes has become VERY difficult and that is for ONE dog. To find a home that could handle not one but TWO is even more difficult. BUT we did have a family that had previously adopted from us and had just completed an application to adopt again. However, ideally, they wanted ONE English Bulldog as that was what they always had. Well, as a hail Mary, we contacted them to ask…. after hearing about Willow and Walter their only question was “When will they be arriving”? The ONE English request had morphed into TWO Frenchies in a matter of minutes. But if you think about it, it’s kinda the same amount of dog (in poundage), just two packages instead of one.
Now the details, we knew that Willow had some health issues. To say “issues” was definitely and understatement. As we say in the South, she was a “hot mess”. So, Willow and his first stop was the clinic to see what else might be needed. Here is where the “hot mess express” train started. Willow has severe allergies. In addition to the allergies, she has most of the other secondary issues that go along with them. Yeast infections: ears, tail, skin, check, check, check. The good news that all of Ms. Willow’s health concerns can be addressed. We are working with our Vets and have already begun her treatments. In addition, we updated her vaccine status and gave her a microchip. After an exciting day meeting the clinic staff Willow was ready to head to her foster home. And that is exactly what happened. When she arrived at her foster family it was love at first sight. Especially between the pups and their new human brother. While our volunteer was reviewing the pair’s care regime, both pups and their foster brother disappeared to his room to play and get to know each other. It was indeed confirmed that it was love at first sight.
Willow is the “quiet one” of the two. When our volunteer picked them up while Willow quietly explored her new surroundings, it was a much different approach from Walter. While initially quiet, Willow warms up quickly. She is a typical Velcro dog and does like cuddling to running (or any physical exertion for that matter). For now, that is what we know but priority one for her new foster family is to learn as much as they can about what makes her tick. AND that is exactly what will happen. Stay tuned for updates as the dynamic duo settle in and start their new forever life.
