Nelly’s foster Mom checking in….

Nelly is a great dog.   She is very timid and sweet.  She is 1.5 years old and has a lot of energy.  She is spayed and is recovering well.  She is chipped as well!!  She gets along with all my friends and my neighbors.   She loves to play with other dogs.  Nelly loves peanut butter rawhides and loves to play.   She is a love bug and likes to be loved on.

She loves bathing.   She lays down and enjoys it like a Spa treatment.   It is hilarious ❤️💕.

Sometimes she has accidents but I am working with potty training her.

She has a Cherry eye that we are addressing with the Ophthalmology clinic.

She would be a great family dog and she loves everyone!!

6/29/2026 Update:

Please welcome Nelly to No Borders Bulldog Rescue. Nelly is a 1.5 yr. old female English Bulldog that weighs 50lbs.

Nelly joins the NBBR family via way of owner surrender.  Nelly’s previous family had several issues that they were dealing with that caused them to want to surrender her.   They were moving, they had another bulldog that was attacking Nelly and other family issues.  They reached out to see if we would be able to take her into our program.  While we are always at capacity and begging for qualified fosters (we still are), we had a new foster that was just approved and appeared to be a good fit for Nelly.  Like many of our dogs, Nelly wasn’t “local”. She was in Texas, but as you know, Texas is a big state. While it took a little more coordination for pickup and transportation to her new foster family, once again our volunteers made it happen.

Nelly arrived into our care with a few supplies from her previous family, but one thing she was missing was vet records.   There were no documented records at all.  As we say, if there isn’t documentation it didn’t happen.  So, Nelly’s first stop was to the clinic to get a physical exam and whatever else she needed.  There were a few things that we knew right off the bat.   Nelly wasn’t spayed, she has a cherry eye, and she needed all of her vaccinations.  In addition, she needed to be heartworm tested and a fecal exam for good measure.   We received great news in that Nelly is a healthy and happy little girl.  Heartworm and intestinal worm negative. She does have a minor skin issue that she was prescribed an antibiotic that should cure that in no time. She will be seeing the Ophthalmology Clinic to evaluate her cherry eye.  She is also on the schedule with our regular clinic to be spayed.

Nelly is a very happy girl.  Typical for her age (puppyish) she is very energetic, but she does settle down quickly.   She does very well with car rides and once she does relax, she is a cuddle bug.  Her intake notes say that she is potty trained and crate trained. Nelly did fantastic on her initial car ride from her previous owners to her foster family.  She crashed and spent the entire trip snoring like a lumberjack.   Currently Nelly is working on training her new foster family.  From the reports that we have received, they are doing pretty well.  Stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks on Nelly’s health updates as well as more interesting stories about her personality. We know there are stories just waiting to emerge.
