George

George

Breed: English Bulldog

Sex: Male

Age: 4 years old

Weight: 49 lbs.

3/26/2018 Update:  George was ADOPTED!!!!! It is with great pleasure we are able to announce George has found his forever family.

George was found in a flooded are of Southeast Texas.  We have no idea what his exact story is, but he was found in a bayou on a small piece of ground with water all around him.  George was very lucky he had a guardian angel in the form of a 14 year old boy.  George’s guardian was out on his bike surveying the area for damage when he spotted George.  Initially the water around George was too high to rescue him and it took a couple of days to get to him as they waited for the water to recede. In the meantime, George’s guardian angel checked on him and never gave up on saving him.  When the water did recede enough to get him, it took several firemen to get George to safety.  Once George was on dry land and safe the family that rescued him began to try and reunite him with his family. Since George wasn’t wearing any tags or microchipped it made things extremely difficult.  They posted on local social media sites and posted flyers hoping to find his family.  After a week of no luck and knowing they would not be able to keep him, they reached out to us to see if we could help.

Once in rescue, George’s journey hit a couple of bumps on the road to his forever family. George had severe luxating patellas and required THREE surgeries to correct the condition.  George took several months to recover but is back to 100%.

George hit the JACKPOT with his forever family. He is joining a bustling household with a forever Mom, Dad, and fur sibling.  George has human siblings as well but they live out of town, though they return often to hang out with him.  George’s forever family is very familiar with George and all of his surgeries.  They were his foster family and nursed him back to health after each surgery.  They were actually approved to be an adoptive family before George joined rescue. Since we didn’t have a Bulldog that appeared to be just the right fit, they decided to help by fostering until “the one” came along. Well….they took a chance and decided they would foster George.  The rest, as they say, is history.  His family knew immediately George was the one and nursed him back to health.  After all the ups and downs, good and bad, they knew George was already home. Congratulations to George and his entire family.

3/23/2018 Update:

Happy Friday!!!!!!
Do you know what tomorrow is?
It’s the day I have been waiting for…….BULLDOG DAY AT THE WOODSHED!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
NBBR and the cutest Bulldogs you will ever see, (especially me).
Come see us and let one of us steal your hearts to adopt or foster in your home!
We will be there from 12-3 soaking in the rays and taking over the patio. Oh, and the food and beverages are awesome.
FM says I have to rest today because I’ve got a big day tomorrow. I went to the spa yesterday so I can look my best. Like that’s ever been a problem…..
😎George

3/11/2018 Update:  Hi everyone!!

George here.
Wow! I had a great week and feeling better everyday!
Hope everone is having a good week too😊
You should see the dance I can now do when I see my bowl with veggies!
I’ve got new Legs!!!
Peas and carrots with my new food are my favorite since I’m now on A DIET or as I say,
STARVING!!!!!
A little mad at FM… and she doesn’t get why??😡
So….. Today was percect Bully weather.  NBBR had a fun event at a brewery!  So, what does FM do?????  She takes the “rock Star”SERENA to today’s event!!!? I get it.  She’s beautiful and awesome, blah, blah blah…..
( we actually ran around this morning) I had SO much fun but I probably tried to show off, ( I did) .  Now I’ve been snoozing on the couch all day.  She has tons of energy ( kind of bouncy), but that makes sense because she wants to see everything and that is why SHE IS SO SMART!
I personally can’t wait until the Woodshed!!!  Guess I’m a FW kind of guy.  It’s going to be so much fun because FM says they love dogs!  And the food is awesome! Please come see me, I  mean us. 😉
Put it on your calendar now!
Saturday, March 24!
That’s it for this week,
George 😎
PS.  FM went to TCU and she gave me this awesome cap!
GO FROGS!!!!!

3/4/2018 Update:

Hello!
George here. Feelin fine!!!!
What is up with this weather??
Yesterday was beautiful, but today YUCK!
Maybe tomorrow…..
Guess what?!!!
Dr. H says I can finally be a bulldog and play and go on walks! YES 🤗  I’m so excited!!! Small steps… I know.
It’s a “walk not a sprint”. But that was the BEST news ever! One question, and THIS IS HUGE. Can anyone explain to me WHY HAS MY FOOD QUANTITY BEEN REDUCED? Quality is still great, but Jeez…….Treats have practically disappeared 😳 (FD still sneaks me a few but FM is SERIOUS)! We get back from Dr H and now I’m on a diet??? What the heck is that? Is 12 pounds much?? I personally like the fact that my wrinkles have “filled” out.  Ugh.

Keep you posted on this diet thing.. I’m so excited for Spring! Sun, patio and sunshine.  Everything I’ve missed. I hope everyone had a good week.  I just had to share the good news!

I’m inside chilling today, being a total slug with FM but next week….LOOK OUT!  I’m taking her on a walk!
Til next week,
😎 George

2/28/2018 Update:  Hey everyone ,

It’s me, George!!
I’m back!!!!
I hope everyone remembers me….. I’m the one that survived Hurricane Harvey.
I’m sorry I’ve been under the radar for a couple of months.
Just a few medical issues 🙄
and didn’t want to
Call any attention to myself until I was on the mend.
Guess what?? I’m back!!!!
I wasn’t a happy camper going to Dr H. , but it was necessary.
Guess what?
I’m felling better!
I love him and everyone at his office.
They treat  me like Im a “celebrity”,whatever that is?
FM and FD say I’m a “rock star “……but , I’m on crate rest due to my knees. Coming to an end soon!
Walking a little more every day. (Like walking to the mailbox and back) But that’s my instructions so we follow them exactly!
I’m so excited about all my new fur buddies that are new to NBBR!
We are lucky dogs!!!
I can’t wait and promise to show up at one of our fun events as soon as Dr H says
it’s Ok.
I’m just so glad to be feeling better and thank everyone that has made that happen.
😎 George

12/24/2017 Update:

Hey Gang!
Happy Holidays!
I hope  everyone had a great 🎄!
I did. It was awesome!
Only thing, I got in BIG trouble with FM and FD because me and fur sibling wanted the same Xmas bone🙄
Santa brought us our own BUT fur sibling thinks it’s all about HER she calls herself a  👸, whatever
Anyway, we both got in trouble.😞
Not good… we got into it 3 times!
But, today we are being nice.
FM has been on couch which wecboth of us today  which we both like.
We’ve forgotten about it already 🤗
FYI.
Bully friends:
I didn’t know there was a better food than bacon, but I personally think this thing called a “filet” may

be the best thing I’ve ever had. I Only got a few bites but I hope there is more at some point!

Dr. H says my leg is getting better.
I’m so excited about that!
Walks in the future!
Well..
Again, Happy Holidays to everyone.
I hope to see everyone at the Event  in Fort Worth.
😎George

12/3/2017 Update:

Hi everyone!
Me George,
Sorry this is late, kinda under the weather but I hope everyone is doing great and enjoying the holidays
My week was not my best but I am feeling  better!
My Patella surgery went well, just  not able to jump and play the way I want to.
Going to see Dr. H today  and check on my incision. I hope I get to go on walks soon. I really want to get some exercise!
FM said we are putting up our Xmas tree this weekend! She says she has a special ornament for me and fur sibling!  I hope it is bacon flavored…….
Everyone have a good weekend and stay warm. Does everyone get sweaters when it’s cold? FM found a hoodie for me….. just wondering
😎George

11/19/2017 Update:

HAPPY Thanksgiving to everyone!
It’s me , George.   I hope everyone is getting ready for family, friends and Bulldogs!!
Not much to report but I really want to go on walks! Coming soon, I know…
The weather is perfect and I want to be Outside!
Well, fur sibling and I got in trouble with FM🙄
She was really busy this week and when she got home from work we kind of destroyed all of our toys.
We couldn’t help it!!!!
We like it when she is home!
I (we) hope this was a one time thing.  Probably not…..
Iggy (fur sibling) and I talked and came to the conclusion that IF we got REALLY naughty she might decide to stay home all of the time….. probably not going to happen.
She usually is here and I just don’t like it when she is gone.
I overheard her on the phone and it sounds like I’m getting a bath tomorrow…. something about smelling good on a Thanksgiving
I smell great!
She must have me confused with fur sibling.
Looking forward to some turkey on Thursday and wish everyone Happy Turkey Day!!!
😎 George

11/12/2017 Update:

Greetings!
George here. Just doing my perfect bulldog things. You know,  sleeping, eating, more sleeping and the occasional playtime with fur sibling. I haven’t found a toy I like yet, any ideas????
FM takes me for car rides, but I end up in Southlake EVERY time!
I don’t mind. Everyone there is so nice and they shower me with attention! I finally get to start short walks on Thursday! That may not sound very exciting to all my bully buddies, but it is to me!  My knee is fixed and other one soon
I’m so excited for Thanksgiving! FM has a grocery list so long it takes 2 pages! The turkey part sounds pretty good too.
I’ve put on several pounds… I haven’t missed a single meal. FM and FD laugh at how fast I can finish my food. Personally, I don’t get the laughing. I’m just HUNGRY!
But, whatever if that’s my only problem I continue to be awesome.
Not one accident, love my crate as much as the couch (I really like the couch better), and basically love everything and everyone.

Fur sibling barks at EVERYTHING and it is very annoying.  I just make what FM says is the cutest whine ever. Someone came to our house and told me I needed to teach my sister some manners! Hahahhahahha

11/5/2017 Update:

Hello!

It’s George
I heard everyone had SO much fun at Saturday’s Truck event in Dallas… so sad I had to miss. I heard the food was great and I missed Troy’s Birthday……
That makes me sad because he is why I am part of NBBR and SAVED me
I  hope you had a good one Troy…..
Wish I had been there but Thank you for saving me. I will be forever grateful💜💜💜💜💜

Getting better everyday and FM said she needs to quit the special treats in my food because I’m filing out way too fast🙄
I like my treats , they are the best.

I get my stitches out this week and might be able to take a few walks before Dr H fixes my next knee.

My week was great. Kinda quiet.
Want to se my Bully friends as soon as I can!!
Life is good with foster sis.
Hope everyone has a great week!  If I get to go on a walk this week FM promises to take pics!!!!
😎 George

10/30/2017 Update:

I am back!!!! My little surgery was NOTHING !!
Back to my perfect self, loving everything and everyone. I’m kind of sad I haven’t been released for walks,  but I KNOW that is going to happen!

Does anyone know what an “Agent”is?
I’ve been told I am so perfect as Bullies go that I need to be in commercials and possibly movies. FM says her cell phone is blowing up.
And it is….

And fur sibling is NOT happy. 🙄
All this attention on my potential carrier….
We will work it out.
We still kiss every morning. And I promise to remember her when I relocate to Hollywood and will. Call when I can. Maybe send her a ticket.
She will never get there….. poor girl

Sophia! Come with me!!!!
Bailey is my first love but we can work that out.  We are very popular on NBBR …..
Think about it????
💜😎George

10/23/2017  Update:

Hey it’s George the wonder dog. I’m pretty incredible if I may say so myself. 🤗

My surgery went well, I’m off my pain meds and FM has to make sure I’m in my crate or I will jump on everything!  First night was a little rough but FM stayed with me the whole night. Lots of belly rubs. Special treats too.
Next month I do the other knee. Then I’m ready for fun!
Dr H made sure my incision is so straight and I’m pretty sure my hair will grow back just the way it was.

The weather is so nice and I love to be in the sun for short periods of time. FD likes to grill and I love sitting outside hoping a treat is in my immediate future! Fur sibling likes the patio too. We get along soooo good. Not one issue! I’ve not met a person I don’t smother with kisses given the chance.

I don’t have much to add because I’ve just been pretty low key……. but feeling better everyday!
Til next week. George😎

10/15/2017 Update:

Hi guys!

It’s George. Hope everyone has had a good week. I love the weather cooling down. My patio is perfect for a little sun. FM keeps the door open so I can go in and out. My fur sibling likes it too so we have fun. We actually share bones and she lets me lay on her bed. She’s not as bad as I thought. I actually give her kisses in the AM! She’s still  not very pretty……but FM says not everyone can be like me😊
I kinda got some bad news but it’s all ok because Dr H is going to fix it. He’s soooo nice.
My back knees have a little problem but they are getting fixed one at a time. Nothing serious, I just can’t run and jump on all the furniture. That makes me sad because I like to surprise FM with where I am. Kinda like “Where’s Waldo” but better because she always snaps a picture of me to send it to my foster brothers. I’ve met one and really like him (in pic) and I get to meet the other one this weekend. They are all grown up but they check in  on me all the time. They used to have a bully when they were kids. I’ve seen his pic…..I guess he was ok if you like a double patch eyed brindles. 🙄

Anyway he crossed the Rainbow Bridge years ago. Back to me…
My manners surprise EVERYONE!
FM and FD took me for a bath yesterday and they couldn’t believe how good I was. I wanted to say, Duh….. you think I don’t know what a bath is ???? But I just let them do their thing knowing I was going to get a really special treat. I get LOTS of those. I hope the weather stays nice. Once my knees get fixed and Dr H says it’s ok I really want to go to these cool restaurants in Fort Worth that let you take nicely behaved dogs and they have food and bones on the menu. They even have a band!
FM went to a Uncle Johns yesterday and met Sophia.(I like her name already). FM said she was such a love and so pretty. She’s all white with really pretty eyes. Maybe she will find her forever home soon. I hope to get to meet her.
Well, that’s this weeks recap. Wish me luck on Thursday!
😎 George

10/9/2017 Update:  George here.
Could my life get any better? YES!!!
It gets better each day. 💜
I still miss Bailey (sigh), …..
But  I know she still loves me…..😊
Saturday was SO much fun!!
There were so many new bullies I got to meet and all the adults had fun.
Maybe it was the beverages….
They had these glasses that said “beer”??? Whatever, it was fun!!!!!  And sorry……..I was the most handsome bulldog there .  Take that, NIKOS!!!!😝 Everyone seemed to LOVE me. ( like that’s not the norm)????
I got a little over heated and Katie made sure I got in Troy’s truck to cool off.😎
Sooo much better….I can’t wait for events that DONT MAKE ME HOT!!!!!  I can’t go to Pizza party tomorrow because FM (foster mom) is out of town 😡  I’ve been such a good boy this week. No accidents and getting better with my new training halter. Hate my eye drops. 🙄 I know they are needed. FM keeps telling me that Ugh…She’s awesome but I HATE my eyes being messed with 😙FM gives me treats…good ones,  Not Buying it.
Sorry mom.  Still love you 💜💜
All in, all it was a great week.
Love to everyone.
George

10/1/2017 Update:  Hi Gang, George here.

I’ve had best week EVER! You see, I fell in LOVE💜💜💜💜💜💜💜!!!!

Let me back up. My FM(foster mom) agreed to take in a bully in our group for the week after she had some kind of surgery. I forget all the details because it was love and first sight for me and BAILEY!!!!!

My Uncle John, (he’s really important in our rescue group) lives down our street. He has 2 bullies too!
Anyway, he had to help FM to get her out of the car ……. the rest is history.
We did everything together. And she is so GOOD and BEAUTIFUL. She made ME a better guy if that was even possible.

We played, napped, snuggled, told stories at night……

I named us Romeo and Juliet (see, I’m that smart). I hope she remembers me forever. She had to leave our house yesterday. It was a sad day.
BUT we promised to remain committed forever.
I’m sad but want everyone to know , I’ll be fine …. I’m a survivor!!!!!!
My manners are almost perfect. But FM did have to order the walking halter Uncle John recommended.  I love him.  I do that bully stop thing on walks and I’m pretty good at it.  I still like to try to crawl under cars too.
We are going to do play dates soon. Once it cools down.
My eye is so much better. I’ve not had ONE accident! I’m pretty much perfect as everyone tells me
Well,  that’s this weeks recap……
ahhh……. miss you Bailey💜

9/25/2017 Update: Hi guys, George here.

What a difference a week makes! I’ve been sleeping and eating and eating and sleeping all week. LOVE my bed and all the treats I get for just being FABULOUS. Tummy rubs are endless….. it’s awesome!!!!
I have this fur siblings that is a triple mutt rescue and starting to be friends with her. I think she is jealous of my looks….. Winning a beauty contest is NOT in her future, but she’s starting to be my friend.
I go back to the vet this week to get my stitches out and check my eye. It Is looking better but I’m not loving the salve my foster mom has to apply.
All in all, I’m eating and putting some weight back on. I love my short walks but FM (foster mom) doesn’t understand why I want to crawl under every car I see…….. maybe in past life I lived outside and that was my shade.
I’ll check in again next week…..
George

9/18/2017 Update:  Hello!
George’s foster mom here wanting to give everyone an update..
Poor guy has had a rough couple of weeks but in the last 7 days it’s all about eating and sleeping!
Vet trip was a bit traumatic. Neutered, cherry eye and pulled teeth..ugh
He is doing great. Up for a little walk on a leash and back to bed. Well deserved, George.
He wanted to fill you in and promises next week HE will give the update! Just a little to tired now.
You will hear from him soon!

9/10/2017 Update:   Please welcome George to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family. George is a 5 year old male English Bulldog that weighs 49 lbs.

To say that George has had a VERY hectic couple of weeks is an understatement.  You see George was found in a flooded are of Southeast Texas.  We have no idea what his exact story is, but he was found in a bayou on a small piece of ground with water all around him.  George was very lucky that he had a guardian angel in the form of a 14 year old boy.

We will continue the search for George’s family, but if that doesn’t occur, we will help him find a new forever home.

George initially went to the vet for a cursory exam. Obviously he was a little beat up and dehydrated but was in relatively good shape considering what he had been through.  George will be stopping by the clinic to get a complete check-up and to address cherry eye.  Once that is complete, he will be joining his foster family to settle in for some much needed R & R.  George appears to be a very sweet little guy, he has gotten along with everyone he has met including humans and dogs of all sizes.  Please keep George in your thoughts as he embarks on a new chapter in his life.
