2/15/2019 Update: There’s hasn’t been much excitement with the Big Cheese.  He is the sweet happy go lucky, bouncing around big boy.  He’s enjoying foster mom working from home these past few days.  Chubby has started going around the house and collecting all the food bowls and taking them outside.  It’s not because he’s hungry lol Chubby is patiently waiting for his forever home.

10/15/2018 Update:  Chubby is doing great. He is loving this weather because he’s getting to play more. Chubby is so loving and just wants attention. He gets along with other dogs and children of all ages. He is patiently waiting for his forever home.

9/24/2018 Update:  Well Chubby had an exciting day.  He got to go see his old vet office for a nail trim and did find out unfortunately that he does have a little bacterial infection in his nose wrinkle and was given some antibiotics, wipes and a cream.  The doctor also said that his front foot had a little irritation in it that the medicine would take care of also.  Then foster mom took him to Starbucks where it was apparent he had been many times before for a puppuccino, he was super excited when they pulled up and was at the window watching and waiting for his treat.  When he got home he had to spend a little time by himself so he could calm down which didn’t take very long.  After that he settled in for a relaxing afternoon with lots of naps.

9/3/2018 Update:  Chubby has taken a liking to belly rubs and bedtime.  He is very rollie pollie and hard to get pictures of these days. He loves cuddles and had been enjoying the nicer temperatures the last few days.  I have discovered that he cannot be left alone with a laundry basket (not only does he eat stuffed animals, but now clothes) he has also tried to eat a blanket.  He has been enjoying his benabone and now has a sturdy bed that he is definitely using for sleep.  Chubby is definitely looking forward to his forever home.  He will still need to be the only dog and best with no small child.  He still gets really excited but is calming down faster each time.

8/20/2018 Update:  Once again I am sorry for the delay in getting an update out about Chubbs.  There really isn’t much of an update. Chubby is being Chubby.  His normal goober self.  Sleeping, eating and soaking up the A/C waiting for his forever home.  Chubby is so sweet and just loves attention and the occasional belly rub.

7/11/2018 Update:

Chubb has had an uneventful couple weeks.  He is just enjoying to loves and cuddles he is getting. He enjoys just being a big lazy boy and relaxing with his foster family.

6/24/2018 Update:  This week has been uneventful for Chubby, he has just been relaxing and enjoying the A/C. We are all just trying to stay cool as the temperatures continue to rise here in Texas.

6/19/2018 Update:  Chubby is doing great.  He’s been able to stay calm with his medicine. I think it just took a few weeks to get good and in his system.  He has been able to spend a little time outside in the morning and evening. He likes to lay out there and get some sun (not to much though, I watch him very closely). Not sure if I’ve mentioned before but no stuffed animals or anything ripe like.  He likes to distort them and eat them.  He’s doing really good with his bone.  I can’t say it enough that Chubby has a big heart and love bed everyone and everything.  All he wants is kisses and loves.

5/29/2018 Update:  Chubby is doing great. He has settled in very well and takes his medicine like a pro (with the help of cheese of course).  Chubby will need someone who understands exactly what he needs and can keep him calm.  He gets really excited when new people come around and when his human foster brother comes home after being gone for a week.  When Chubby is in the living room or getting ready for bed it takes about 15-20 mins for him to get settled and relaxed.   He wants to be all on you and giving you kisses (this keeps him excited and makes his breathing become more raspy).  The Big Chubowski will definitely need a calm home, probably the only dog (he has hung out with fur foster sister some and loves her) and i think he’d be better in a house with either older kids or none at all.

5/15/2018 Update:

Please welcome The Big Chubowski aka “Chubby” to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family.  Chubby is a 2.5 year old English Bulldog that weighs 56.5 lbs.

If only love was enough, Chubby would still be with his family.  Chubby’s family loves him dearly, but understands he needs more care than they are able to provide right now.  When Chubby gets excited, he can quickly get himself into respiratory distress.  Because he was living with two other dogs and younger children, his family was concerned for his health.   His family has spent thousands of dollars already on his care and are not financially able to do more at this time.  They reached out to rescue because they love him enough to give him a chance to get the care he needs.

With tears in their eyes, Chubby’s family loaded up our volunteer’s car with Chubby’s bed, blankets, toys and food and said goodbye to Chubby.

Chubby is quite the lover.  He wiggles his booty and greets everyone he meets with a big slobbery kiss.  And then he starts wheezing because he is too excited.  Chubby will need a quiet home, where his excitement level can be kept to a minimum.  Chubby spent a relaxed, quiet weekend with his foster family before heading to the clinic.

Chubby’s vet visit was quite an experience. Chubby got VERY excited and needed to be sedated because when he gets excited his breathing gets worse.  So after his visit we got some good news and some news we will have to monitor. The good news is Chubby’s heart, lungs and all his organs are in good shape.  Chubby has a smaller than normal trachea that will require monitoring.  Dogs with hypo-tracheas fall into two categories:  those with small tracheas that are flattened (surgery candidates) and those who’s tracheas are small but are round (surgery doesn’t help).  Upon first examination of Chubby it appears his trachea is round and surgery won’t be an option.  However, IF he is kept calm and relaxed he does well. So we are treating him with a bronchodilator to help keep his airway open and his foster family has medication to help keep him calm if needed.

Based on early observations Chubby appears to be a happy go lucky little guy.  He will definitely require an experienced Bulldog owner that has a calm, quiet home. Chubby needs a family that wants a cuddle buddy, no long walks, no rough housing etc.  Chubby is doing well in his foster home and likes other dogs, but needs to keep calm so he doesn’t have breathing issues.

Stay tuned for updates on Chubby as we learn what makes him tick and how to keep him happy AND healthy
