7/28/2018 Update

Coco was ADOPTED!!!!!  It is with the GREATEST of pleasure we can now say Miss Coco is officially off the market and has her own forever family.

Coconut (Coco) was found as a stray many months ago by another rescue. She was overbred and heartworm positive.  She was covered in fleas, had skin infections, ear infections…she was a hot mess. Because of all these ailments, the Rescue that found her could not afford the care she needed.  A volunteer contacted NBBR and asked if she could be transferred to us.

Coco holds the distinction of being the Bulldog that spent the longest time as a foster Bulldog.  BUT,  true to the old adage, there is a lid for every pot. Well, you guessed it, Coco found her lid.  Coco was a unique foster in that she was very specific on the dogs that she liked (none). She went to a foster home that had two other dogs, so there were many squabbles, especially with Coco’s foster brother (he and Coco like to think they both are the most important Bulldog).  After much work and patience where other foster families may have given up, Coco’s foster family did not and she was ready for her forever family. So after two years as a foster, Coco is now an NBBR alumna.  Coco is happy and thriving in her forever home. As expected she has gained weight, confidence and has blossomed into the Bulldog she was always meant to be.   The best of wishes and CONGRATULATIONS to Coco and her forever Dad.

2/5/2018 Update:   Yes it’s been awhile for an update on Coco.  Coco is excited that the Eagles won the Super Bowl.  She is doing well, and continues to be better around her foster brother. She obeys basic commands and loves to go in the car.

4/17/2017 Update: Coco loves to hang out on the patio by the pool. She prefers to be outside.   She’s a sweet dog but she still struggles with being around other dogs. She gets along with her foster brother Bubba most of the time, but she still has her moments. She loves to go on walks and take in all the sites. She’s completely potty trained, walks on a leash well,  knows her name, and understands basic commands. Mostly she just  loves attention.

3/20/2017 Update: Coco has be chillin’, she is officially off of medical hold AND ready to find her forever family. She even went to the spa this week to get gussied up so that she will be irresistible. She did a full day of beauty,  bath with an oatmeal conditioner, a mani/pedi and some perfume to smell like the southern belle that she is.  Coco is ready and waiting…. are you her forever family?

12/5/2016 Update:  Today she finally  got a clear bill of health from her heartworm’s. The doctor spayed her while she was there and now she’s resting comfortably. All she wants for Christmas is to find her forever home!

10/17/2016 Update: Coco  is really beginning to thrive and become social. This week is her final visit to the vet to hopefully be cleared from her bout with heart worms. The more she is out and about more social she becomes and actually is beginning to enjoy the company of other dogs. Hopefully this week she gets a clean bill of health. Now it’s time to find her a forever home!

10/3/2016 Update:

CoCo is feeling much better this week and her appetite is returning after her second round and hopefully last round of heartworm treatment. She was a bit grouchy last week but she is finally coming out of it and is even playing with her foster brother. She likes riding in the car except going to the vet. She is fully potty trained and enjoys a good chew toy.

9/18/2016 Update: Well tomorrow CoCo goes back for her heartworm check up. Keep her in your prayers. She’s doing much better and we reached a major milestone this week. She is finally excepting of her Foster brother and they are now officially getting along with one another and actually becoming friends. It’s been a long road but they are finally playing together. Of course this is limited due to Coco’s heart worms.

8/29/2016 Update: It appears that Miss Coco does NOT like mornings, she prefers to roll out of bed mid-morning for her breakfast. When asked to get up before 10 to eat with the rest of the house, the answer was a very polite “NO”. Coco looked at her foster dad as if to say “not happenin'” and rolled back over to finish her beauty sleep.  She is a GREAT dog with a loving personality. Coco is a little shy at first but wants nothing more than to get attention from humans of all sizes.  Coco also loves car rides. Any car that is available, Coco will gladly hop right in. She is even polite enough to get herself into the car, all you have to do is open the door.

It appears that Coco has had MANY litters of puppies in her short 3 years. Based on her behavior we are sure she is an excellent mother, always looking out for the welfare of her pups.  Now  that she is rescued it is time for her welfare to be number one. Coco is looking for a home that can love and cherish her and treat her like the princess she was meant to be.

8/18/2016 Update: Please welcome Coconut (Coco for short) to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family.  Coco is a 3 year old female Bulldog that was found as a stray by another rescue in an area that is known for dumping dogs. After looking diligently for her family it was determined that Coco may have been dumped by her previous owners. The other rescue was able to find a foster home for her but due to a change in their work schedule and Coco’s medical needs, it was determined they would not be able to continue to help Coco. The rescue called NBBR and asked if we would be able to help.

Our volunteer picked up Coco last night and she is as sweet as can be. Coco does need slow introductions with other dogs as she gets a little nervous at first, but she quickly warms up to her surroundings.  Coco ate well, went right to her crate and crashed for the evening.

This morning Coco made a trip to the clinic to determine what medical treatments she will need.  Coco is very thin and needs to gain approximately 15 lbs.  In addition to needing extra weight, Coco is also Heartworm positive. This will require 3 injections for her and 60 days of calm crate rest. Coco also has some skin issues and ear infections. By looking at Coco, it appears she may have been used as a breeding dog.

Coco will be staying at the clinic for two evenings while she gets the first stage of her Heartworm treatment. After that she will be joining her new foster family where she will lounge in her crate and be pampered like the princess she was destined to be.  Coco will return to the clinic in 30 days to have another injection and 30 days of additional rest.  Once her Heartworm treatment is complete, Coco will be ready for her forever family.

But don’t wait around for that, if you want a loving Bulldog princess to join your family, complete the application as soon as possible. Coco doesn’t want to wait any longer than necessary to find her new home.
