12/29/2023 Update:

Finn was ADOPTED!!!!! It is with great pleasure to announce he has found his forever home.

Finn joined the NBBR family as an owner surrender. Finn’s family was experiencing health issues that make it impossible for them to continue to care for him. They contacted NBBR and asked if we would take him in and help him find a new forever family.  After determining that we had a foster family that would be a fit, we were able to say…. Yes, we can help Finn find a new forever family. Finn, like many other newbies to NBBR was not exactly in our backyard.  Actually, he was about 2.5 hours away.   Distance has not been an issue in the past, and our transport team did not disappoint.  It was very helpful that the surrendering family were able to meet halfway.  So, two of our volunteers packed up the car for a quick road trip to pick Finn up and bring him to the DFW area.

The first stop for Mr. Finn was the clinic.  The main agenda was to give him a full physical and to determine if there was anything medically needed.  The first thing we noticed was that Finn was not neutered (doesn’t take a vet to diagnose that one). In addition to the neuter, Finn needed to be brought up to date on his vaccines.  He also had an untreated skin infection. This infection caused some hair loss and required medication and medicated baths. Add an intestinal infection that needed treatment and Finn was ready for his foster home. Finn is pretty typical of what our foster families deal with as far as medical issues and necessary medicine.

Finn is a very chill kinda guy, especially considering that he is young AND a Frenchie. Finn found himself the perfect home for him.  He is currently the only dog and he is more than happy with that.  While he likes other dogs and plays well with them, he has no problem being the sole recipient of all the treats, all the hugs and kisses and ALL the attention one Frenchie can handle.  While being the only pup at home, Finn will have an extensive circle of canine friends and his play date calendar will be full.  Finn will not only have a forever Dad but he will have a new name….. Finn will now be called Turk.  We are not sure if this is short for Turkey, but it could very well be as he a silly little guy.   Turk and his new Dad are a match made in heaven and both couldn’t be happier.  Congratulations are definitely in order for both of these guys.

11/6/2023 Update:

Finn had his neuter last Tuesday (on Halloween in fact) so we didn’t have a lot to report last week. This week, however, he’s back to his same old big bouncy self and happy to be able to go do stuff again! He was absolutely trouble free from the surgery, and even worse a little bodysuit so he wouldn’t disturb his sutures. He didn’t mid it or fight it at all because he’s such a great little dude!

We went to the No Borders Rescue event at Truckyard on Saturday, and Finn played with all the other dogs so much that he fell asleep on the ride home. He truly loves his playtime, and has never met a dog he doesn’t enjoy romping around with. He’s very social and polite 9once he’s got that initial ‘how do you do’ sniff and stare piece out of the way).

The one thing he truly didn’t like after surgery was the rest period. He LOVES his walks, and is more than willing to go 4 or 5 miles a day if there’s time. Unfortunately, the Dogtor said limited walkies for at least a week so we just had short walks since then. Today we FINALLY got back out to the park and he paraded around as if he knew people had missed him and greeted everyone like they were family he hadn’t seen in months!

Well, Finn is all rested up, and in another week he will have his stitches removed. Once he’s all healed up and good as new he’ll be ready for every new adventure he can find! Thanks about it from Finn-land this week, he’ll be back to update everyone next week.

10/25/2023 Update:

Finn has had another great week in his foster home. ZERO accidents in the house, which is a minor miracle for a boy who still has his…bits. Speaking of that, he goes in next week for his neuter and he’ll be even better! Finn is a real baseball guy, so I want to thank the Rangers for keeping the season going for him. That’s really special.

Finn continues to enjoy his walks and is ready to go anywhere at any time. If you want a walking buddy, look no further. We’re still working on his pulling during walks, but he has come so far already I think it’s just a matter of time before he gets it down. He really only pulls when he sees his friends, and he sure does LOVE them! He loves to run around and play with other dogs, and he is completely non-aggressive. He doesn’t bark much at all, but from time to time he will give a little ruff, especially when someone rings the doorbell. Finn really has no bad habits to speak of, but he is still young, so he does lose focus from time to time. He is easily corrected though, so there are no real issues.

One thing I have learned about Finn is that I think he would really love to be in a home with another dog. Not a necessity, but he really loves dogs and will follow his friends around and even bring them toys and treats. If you work from home, that would also make him happy. He’s the only dog in the house currently so it’s not a deal breaker if he’s your one and only, but he is the most social dog I know so if someone is home most of the time, he’s at his happiest.

Finn continues to grow and work on his big boy manners, so if you’re looking for a handsome, hilarious, and fun dog; Finn is a great fit.

10/12/2023 Update:

Finn had a big weekend last week! For everyone who came out to Truckyard and got to meet him, Finn sends best wishes. If you were there, you saw him at his most social, and he absolutely LOVED it! He loves attention, attention from any and everyone and he isn’t afraid to let you know you should pay attention to him. Finn’s best friend spent the weekend with us as well, so even when we were home, he was able to get the attention he needed, so never fear.
He had a little issue last week and had to go to the vet where he was diagnosed with a UTI and put on antibiotics. He takes pills so well (and these ones are HUGE) that it doesn’t seem to bother him at all. If you wrap em in cheese, he’ll happily take em all. He’s been taking those meds for a few days now, and his infection seems to be on the run. He is still a real loverboy and is more than happy to have his medicated baths for his skin as long as you’ll stay with him while he waits for the shampoo to work. Who wouldn’t want to spend 10 uninterrupted minutes staring into those big brown eyes?
Fin loves all things toy related. He’s a master at chewing on stuffies, bully sticks, Whimsies or Greenies or whatever you give him to keep his teeth clean, but most of all…Finn LOVES to chase any kind of ball! He carries his little tennis ball to you wherever you are so you can throw it for him, but he’s really not pushy about it. He’d like you to throw it, but if you’re busy he can always wait patiently. He’s very patient although he will let you know he’s waiting with the occasional BIG sigh. (It’s adorable).
That’s about it in Finn-land. Just a big strong happy dude, doing big strong happy dude things!
Til next time!
10/4/2023 Update:
Finn is doing so great in his foster home! He’s an absolute gem too have around, and he lightens the mood in every room he walks into. A wee lad of around 1 1/2 years old, he has all the puppy energy he will ever need.
So far, Finn has learned to go outside to do his business, no accidents in his home for about 2 weeks! If you’re visiting other’s homes, however, it’s best to keep him in eyeshot as he has not yet had his neuter so he will mark a new place. He is easily corrected, though, and tends not to attempt to claim his new surroundings more than once. A belly band will help ease the stress until he has his equipment altered.
Finn is a fan of food, but not driven by it. He likes certain treats but not everything, so it’s important to try out as many as you like and see if he responds. I am also keeping his favorites list for him, so he always has his stock prepped. He does well with eating when he wants but isn’t beholden to a schedule, so he grazes throughout the day until his bowl is empty.
This is one SERIOUSLY affectionate little fella. I mean REALLY into showing you he’s a good boy. If you sit down, he will sit as close as he can get (sometimes even closer!) and if you dare to get up, he will steal your spot the second there’s daylight between you and the seat. He absolutely adores belly rubs and has developed a currency exchange system that involves as many belly rubs as you will give in exchange for excellent behavior. And he is very well behaved, especially for a young fella like himself. We have had no destructive behavior incidents, but he will de-fluff a stuffy if he’s given one.
He’s still learning proper leash manners, so he will pull when he sees friends, or especially kids! He loves the energy kids give off and will sit and play with it as long as you’ll let him. If you like to be outside, Finn is your man.
All around, Little Finn is a BIG bold personality, and loves to love. Dogs, People, maybe even cats! (Though he is untested with cats thus far) he’s a real charmer and very much lives to please.

9/27/2023 Update:

Please welcome Finn to No Borders Bulldog Rescue.  Finn is a one-and-a-half-year-old male French Bulldog that weighs approximately 36 lbs.

Finn joins the NBBR family as an owner surrender. Finn’s family is experiencing health issues that make it impossible for them to continue to care for him. They contacted NBBR and asked if we take him in and help to find him a new forever family.  After determining that we had a foster family that would be a fit, we were able to say….yes, we can help Finn find a new forever family.

The clinic is still backed up with their surgery schedule, but we do have Mr. Finn on the schedule.  In addition to the neuter Finn needed to bring him up to date on his vaccines.  He also has an untreated yeast infection on his skin. This infection has caused some hair loss and will require medication and medicated baths BUT is completely treatable.  The last thing on Finn’s list of medical needs is medicine for a intestinal infection. This infection is treatable as well but will require daily medicine until it is gone.

Finn is a very chill kinda guy, especially considering that he is young AND a Frenchie. He can be a little standoffish at first but warms up quickly.  He is very accommodating to all those around him.  Finn gets along with other dogs and people.   Cats?? not as accommodating, he thinks that cats are something to chase, and chase he does. Finn met some NBBR foster and alumnae pups and did very well with everyone involved. He was the smallest dude in the room, but it didn’t faze him in the least.  Finn does well on a leash with minimal pulling (he does get excited at times).   He does well with a crate but doesn’t need one, as he enjoys being around the humans in his life.  While all this makes Finn sound perfect, he’s not.  He does have a few bad habits that he will be working on correcting.  The first is jumping on people when he meets them. While some people don’t mind this not everyone wants to be accosted at their first meeting.  The other thing he will be working on is him wanting to mark everything as his.  His temporary foster Mom nicked named him Mr. Peebody and this is definitely not a nickname that we want to keep.   Finn went to his permanent foster home today, so stayed tuned in the coming weeks for updates on how Mr. Finn is doing and what makes him tick.
