4/19/2026 Update:
Gabby continues to improve and she is really starting to enjoy life again. On Tue.(Apr. 14) she was spade and she did very well. She is no longer in pain and her scar is healing nicely…has not even been tempted to scratch it yet 🙂 She is sleeping through the night a full 7-8 hours and waits to go to the bathroom every morning. Gabby continues to eat her limited ingredient beef diet twice a day. After she eats, she wants to chew on our fingers, so we have conditioned her to chew on a beef flavored nylabone after her meal. It also is good for her teeth.
Throughout the day we give her a natural beef treat every time she goes outside and goes to the bathroom. She now only goes inside the house unless she is home by herself for more than an hour. Gabby still has separation anxiety when left alone at home…we’re still hopeful she will learn to feel confident that we will consistently come back home in the future.
4/6/2026 Update:
Gabriela is a 3 year old female Frenchie we call Gabby. She has never met a stranger. She is so affectionate and full of love for anyone she meets. When she was first fostered 2 weeks ago, her skin irritations were at its peak and she had scratched so much under neck that she no longer had any hair! She would not get any quality of sleep due to constant scratching. It has been less than 2 weeks on her skin medication, and along with dermatologic shampoo baths, and the right food she is rarely scratching now 🙂 She is now on a limited ingredient beef, rice & sweet potato diet….no chicken for Frenchies 🙂
Gabby loves to cuddle and wants to take naps by your side whenever you sit down on the couch or lay down in the bed. She sleeps through the night now in the bed with her foster parents. She loves constant companionship and does not like to be alone…she even likes car rides. Gabby also gets along with our elderly male French Poodle who is set in his ways & wants to be left alone, which she does 🙂
The only challenge at this time is leaving her alone in the house when we have to go out & cannot take her. She currently has major separation anxiety and will usually go the bathroom in the house if left for more than an hour. We are hopeful this will subside since she realizes that we are never gone for more than 2 hours at a time. We could not ask for a better companion for a French bulldog. She really exemplifies the true personality of the breed.
3/30/2026 Update:
Please welcome Gabriela to No Borders Bulldog Rescue. Gabriela (Gabby) is a female French Bulldog that is 3 yrs. old and weighs 17lbs.
Gabby joins the NBBR family as an owner surrender. Gabby was purchased at a local pet store and the family was told that she was “100% healthy”. Once the family took Gabby to their vet, they soon learned that she had several issues. After several years of trying to keep up with her care, they came to a point where they could no longer financially afford to give her the care that she needed. They contacted us and asked if we would be able to help. Like most Rescues these days, we are usually at capacity with a waiting list. However, we had a foster to adopt home that had just become approved and was ready for their first foster. After speaking with them and informing them of the conditions we knew about Gabby, their answer was YES.
Once our volunteer met with the surrendering family to transfer Gabby into NBBR’s care and that was taken care of, Gabby’s first stop was the clinic to get a first-hand assessment of what conditions she has and what treatments she needs. We knew that she had skin issues and needed to be spayed. It appears that the skin issues are due to allergies. So, we took the shotgun approach and immediately changed her diet to a limited ingredient food. Gabby’s skin issues are currently a horrible circle. Her allergies make her itchy and she scratches them. After scratching her skin so much she then developed both yeast and bacterial infections which in turn are itchy making her scratch more, repeating the cycle. To stop this vicious cycle Gabby was given an injection to help with immediate relief and sent home with a course of antibiotics (bacteria) and antifungal (yeast). In addition the skin infections, Ms. G has some yeast present in her ears. All of that is being addressed. AND she was sent home with medicated shampoo to give her medicated baths 3 times a week for the next couple weeks. In addition to this, Gabby needs to be spayed, microchipped and have her vaccines brought up to date. The clinic staff decided it would be better to wait a few weeks to allow Gabby’s skin to improve before she is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped, but that has already been scheduled.
Gabby is a curious and loving little pup. She appears to enjoy car rides and does well on a leash. So far, she hasn’t met a stranger, either canine or human. We have not witnessed her interact with any cats, but her previous family said that they had a cat and Gabby had no issues. Currently Gabby is settling in nicely with her foster to adopt family. Stay tuned for updates and we learn the ins and outs of Ms. Gabby. One thing we know for sure, she may have had an eventful previous week BUT she has started her journey towards living her best life. Welcome to the good life.
