8/24/2019 Update:

Grover was ADOPTED!!!!  It is with GREAT pleasure we are able to announce that Grover has found his forever family.

Grover joined the NBBR family as a stray. Grover was found as a stray and taken to a county animal shelter. The shelter that Grover was taken to was a high kill shelter.  The shelter does not allow any of their dogs to be posted on social media AND they will not adopt the dogs to the public.  Thankfully for Grover, there is a local all breed rescue that tries to save as many as possible. When they saw Grover come into the shelter, they immediately knew he needed a breed specific rescue.  They contacted NBBR and asked if we would be able to help Mr. G. Besides being in a shelter that makes it very difficult to help dogs, he was several hours away from us. Transport can sometimes be very difficult to coordinate.  However, Grover was lucky there was a volunteer willing to drive him to Dallas to meet our volunteer.  Once in Dallas, Grover was taken to the clinic to get a check-up and up to date on his vaccines. The first things noted about Grover was that he was EXTREMELY thin.  You could see all of his ribs, spine and his hip bones were very prominent. Grover was also missing a couple of patches of fur.  And, he was carrying his back leg slightly.

The one word you notice about Grover is that is he is a lucky guy.  We don’t think luck had anything to do with him finding his forever home.  His forever family did  A LOT to become his forever parents.  Grover’s new parents are what we consider “out of the area”, meaning that they were many miles away. Due to the distance they were screened even more thoroughly than our normal process. It was determined that during the process, there was a small issue that would need to be addressed before they adopted a NBBR Bulldog.  This issue was addressed IMMEDIATELY and they were ready to begin the process.  When they began this process Grover was not even on their radar, however in true form they were open to suggestions and wanted to find the Bulldog that they would be the best fit. After talking with several foster parents and narrowing the list down to three, the Meet and Greets were set.  To say Grover’s new parents were dedicated is an understatement.   They made the adoption process a vacation. Time off was requested, flights were booked, a rental car was secured, pet friendly hotel rooms were scheduled.   After all that, they met with the three finalist to determine which Bulldog would pick them.  Grover will now be an only child with two very doting parents.  Thank you Mom and Dad for opening your hearts and home to a rescue Bulldog AND for all your patience and dedication to making this extra special adoption occur.  Congratulations for the entire family are most definitely in order

8/19/2019 Update:

Hi!!! Grover here, do y’all see how much weight I have put on?? My foster mom says this is the perfect weight for me now and tells everyone how handsome I am, and it makes me blush!!!

I got a bath last week, and while it’s not my favorite thing in the world I get in there anyway so I can look this pretty. My foster parents are always amazed that I never stink, and that’s why I get to sleep on the couch whenever I want and sometimes even in the bed, which is my favorite of all time. I have finally learned how to be the perfect gentleman and just lay down and go to sleep when I’m in the bed, and I don’t move once I’m up there either because it’s the life of luxury.

I have a meet and greet this weekend, and I hope they like me, because it has been a long journey to this point I’m at and I’m now ready to join my forever family, whoever they may be. Wish me luck on them looking into my eyes and knowing I am THE PERFECT ONE for them!!!!

Until next time,
🐾Grover🐾

7/2/2019 Update:

Happy July 4th Weekend Everyone!!!!

Grover here!!!! My foster mom woke me up to get some pictures and I wasn’t too happy about it!

This weekend marks my 1 yr with NBBR, so Happy Rescued Birthday to me 🎂🍰🧁. I’m still looking for the perfect forever home, my foster mom tells me all the time that there is a family out there that is missing out on the most handsome, loving, best dog ever in the world, are you that perfect family???? If you are I would love to meet you so you can see for yourself just how perfect I am. I can be trusted with children, other dogs and all humans, and even trusted to have the run of the house without chewing or having accidents in the house. I am such a good boy who is just happy to be living the life of a King! If you are interested, please make sure you have filled out an application on the website so we can meet!! Until next time, Happy Independence Day!!!

5/13/2019 Update:

Grover here!!! I know it’s been a while, but I’m still doing good!!!

Yesterday I went to a friend named Chopper’s birthday party and had a great time. I got to meet new doggie friends and who knew that doggie birthday parties were so much fun.  I had such a great time and was excited the whole time I was there!!!

Tonight my foster mom told me a bedtime story about finding a family that will love me just as much as my foster parents do, and she hopes they have kids and another dog that I can play with too. She said that NBBR would make sure that it was the right family, and that I just have to be patient while they find them, and until then I could live it up like a King here for as long as it takes!

As you can tell, I loved this bedtime story she told me, so I’m going to sign off now and have sweet dreams of finding my forever home. Goodnight all.

🐾Grover🐾

From Foster Mom: Grover continues to be a great dog, full of love and appreciation. He only wants to be loved and please his humans. He is such a sweet and handsome boy, and so very gentle. We watched him play with his friend Chopper last night, who is 120 lbs easy, and they played hard, but when the little doggies would come up to Grover he was so very gentle and wouldn’t rough house play, but rather played gentle with them. He truly has come a long way from being able to count every bone in his body to the handsome boy he is now. Even if it’s not Grover you are interested in, please get over to the website and fill out the application, you know you want too…..

3/4/2019 Update:

This week is brought to by the letter “P” for Pawdi Gras!

I got to hang out with my foster dad last weekend and all my friends from NBBR at Pawdi Gras. We had such a great time and I loved meeting all the new people. One of my NBBR friends even let me sit in his float by his “booty”. We had treats and a parade and it was so much fun, but I sure was tired after all the excitement.

I am so glad I don’t have to run the streets anymore looking for food and shelter, and know that I’m always going to have food so I don’t ever have to starve again. I am now at full weight and am ready to find my forever family.

If you are interested in seeing if we are a match, please fill out an application (if you haven’t already) so we can see if you could be my forever family.

As always my foster parents tell me that I am such a good boy, and that I am the best foster they have ever had. Everyone that meets me tells me I am so handsome and love on me all the time. I especially love kids, I love to play with them and am so very gentle with them. I also like to play and cuddle with other dogs too, but humans are my favorite!!!!!!

Until next time, I hope you all have a great week!!!!!!

2/11/2019 Update:

Today is brought to you by the letter “C” for Cozy!!!!
I’ve decided I don’t like the cold and rain. I would rather cozy up with my foster dad on the couch. Most of the time I’m busy running around and my foster mom can’t get pictures of me unless she gets out her high speed camera, so she gets pictures of me when I settle down for the night. Would you like to cozy up on the couch with me? I’m still looking for my forever family and you could be them!!
Not much else to report this week, except I’m still told I am such a good boy and my foster parents can’t seem to figure out why someone would give me up. They say that I am without a doubt one of the best fosters they have ever had.
Remember, if your interested in being my forever family you have to fill out an application, and even if it’s not me that you have your eye on, you still need to fill out your application on the link below.
Hope everyone has a great week!!!
Hugs & Kisses,
🐾Grover🐾

2/3/2019 Update:  Today is brought to by the letter “B” for Bath Day!!!

You know what my favorite day is?? You guessed it, bath day of course.  I will jump right in and stand there oh so good while my foster dad washes me and tells me how very handsome I am.  And, as a bonus he gives me kisses while he’s giving me a bath!!  I don’t understand why my foster brother and sister don’t like it, they must like to be stinky….but not me!!! My foster brothers nickname is Andy Dufrain (from Shawshank Redemption) because he likes to play in the dirt, I have decided I am too “dapper” for that monkey business and would rather get treats and love all to my handsome self.

My foster sister is feeling better and we’ve been playing again, I sure did miss playing with her while she was recovering, but what I really would like is to find my very own forever family to play with. I would make a great addition to any family. I am trustworthy, loyal, loving, always in a good mood and best of all, I’m house trained and won’t mess anything up.

As you can see by my pictures I’m in my favorite spot in the couch. I sure am glad that I get to lay up here and chill when it’s time for bed, I wore myself out playing outside in the 80 degree weather today!!

If you are interested in being my forever family, get on over to the website and fill out an application so you can get approved.

Until next time, I’ll be thinking of a good one for the letter “C”.

1/14/2019 Update:  Today is brought to you by the letter “A” for Adorable!!!

Grover here, I know it’s been a hot minute since my last update, but my foster mom has been really busy at school and while she’s away my foster dad and I chill out on the couch just patiently waiting for her return!!! As you can see I’m still such a good boy. I haven’t been as active lately because my foster sister had leg surgery, so I haven’t been able to play with her like I want too, but soon enough I will get to play with her again. Ssshhhh…don’t tell my foster sister, but I prefer to be loved on more than play anyway.

My foster parents tell me every day what a handsome boy I am, and when they tell me that I just shake my tail and get so happy. I hope to find a forever home soon. I have put all my weight back on and am ready to start my forever life. My foster parents tell me there is a family out there that will love me just as much as they do, so if you think you could be that family, please fill out an application!!! I love all dogs, children and adults and I don’t chew anything, I don’t have accidents and can absolutely be trusted while my foster parents are gone.

12/3/2018 Update:  Not much to report here, with the weather getting cooler you can always find me curled up on the couch, and I’m glad that my foster parents let me lay here, it’s my favorite place that I always seem to melt into. I continue to be THE “model” dog because I don’t want to be on the streets ever again! I am looking for the perfect forever home that will provide me safety, love and adoration I deserve after the rough start I had. I hope to find a forever home soon, and if you think you might be the perfect forever family, please fill out your application so they will know you are interested in being my forever family!!!

Til next time,
🐾Grover🐾

11/4/2018 Update:  Grover here, I still continue to be an amazing bulldog in my foster home!! They tell me all the time what a good boy I am. I had a meet & greet but the other dog did not like me for some reason which made me sad. I am not sure why, as I am the sweetest thing out there and am always looking to make new friends. Foster mom tells me it’s because there is a special forever family out there that we have not met yet. I am so good that Foster Mom & Dad let me pretty much let me do whatever I want. I do not cause problems, chew on anything or have accidents in the house. I am still gaining weight and I think I have my foster parents fooled, they still give me treats all the time when I look at them with what I call my “puppy eyes”, and it works every time!!!  Sadly, I haven’t been able to make it to the last 2 events because my foster parents had previous plans, but now they are free for a while so I should be able to make any upcoming events and would love to meet you. If you are interested in meeting me and have not filled out an application yet, please go to the website and fill one out so we can meet.

9/24/2018 Update Not much to report, except that Grover continues to be THE “perfect gentleman” in his foster home. He is still putting on weight (the picture of him outside is from 1 month ago), and loves that he gets treats all the time. When he first came into his foster home he wasn’t sure what treats were or why he was getting them all the time, but he sure knows now what they are and quite frankly, he could care less why he is getting them now!!! He is such a lover, all it takes is 1 look from his eyes and you will fall in love with him. He continues to be a people pleaser, and will do anything you ask him. His newest trick is when he sees the cats, while he use to run and try to catch them, now he tries to sneak up on them by walking really slowly towards the baby gate that they are behind to surprise them, but they are too fast for him. Grover is one of the best dogs that we have had the pleasure of fostering, he goes along to get along with anyone and anything. He loves to lounge wherever you will let him, just happens to be on our couch, but he will get down if told to when company is over. He also loves to lounge with his foster brother who is showing him all the tricks and techniques to get those said treats above.  His hip is not bothering him now that he has put on weight, and in fact, one of his favorite things to do is to chase his foster sister around the yard and play. He doesn’t really play with toys, but we think that might be because his foster sister has “claimed” them all and has told him that they are not his to play with, so he respects that. When we try and get him to play he always looks at her to get her approval to play with her toys. Grover will make a great addition to a family, and is truly one that you do not want to miss out on. If you are interested in meeting Grover and haven’t filled out an application yet, get on over to the website and get one filled out!!!!

8/5/2018 Update:

Grover here, I am continuing to thrive at my foster house and am putting on more weight. I was having a hard time because after I got to my foster home they discovered a couple weeks in that I had something “churning” in my stomach called worms. Now I don’t know anything about fishing, but Foster Mom tells me these are not the worms we want to fish with. So, now I am on a round of medication that has already made a world of difference. I am also getting around 100% better now from my hip injury that I take medication for, I can run really, really fast in the yard and love to play with my foster fur sister, she’s a lot of fun. I haven’t met a dog I don’t like yet!!!

I still want to be continually loved and adored and I will always let you know when I want love, which is all the time. I just love being with humans, especially those who treat me like a king!!

I don’t really like my picture taken, but I did let Foster Mom get some pics of my beautiful eyes and face today, she always tells me I am handsome and I rub on her to tell her thank you. She told me to look at the camera and “work it” and I think I could be the next Top “dog” Model!!! What do you think?

Those furry creatures they call cats still
continue to elude me, but that’s probably for the best since I am not really a fan of them, we just keep to ourselves and all is good.

I will be at the event next week, I hope you come out and see me and bring lots of treats, I love treats…….that’s all for now, but if you think you could be “the one” for me, get on over and fill out an application so we can have a meet and greet soon!!!

See you Saturday,
🐾Grover🐾

7/19/2018 Update:   Grover here!!!! I just wanted to stop and let everyone know how I’m coming along.

I’m settling in at my Foster home, and it’s pretty cool here (ok except for that day the air went out and FM had to put us in the car to cool off). I’m on the down slide of kennel cough, FM caught it the very first day and I got to go back and see Dr H and his wonderful staff. And they fixed me right up.

As you can tell, I’m putting on some weight, I get A LOT of food and my Foster parents give me all the treats I want. My ribs section and hips are filling in nicely. I still have about 15-20lbs I need to put on but I’ve gain about 6 or 7 so far.

I have the best Foster sister and brother, they treat me real nice and I have gotten along with them from day 1. They have these furry things they call cats that I DO NOT like, AT ALL. Every time I come in I know just where to find them, they like to play hide and seek in the closet, but I find them every time……

I don’t like my picture taken, and FM always tells me I’m handsome. They tell me I have to chill out, you see, I have an old injury to my hip that doesn’t allow me to really run. I have to have a 1/2 pill every day so it makes my hip feel better. I’m going to need a home that can give me the love & attention that I deserve, as well as one where I can just relax on the couch with my humans. Speaking of humans, I love all humans, and I let them know when I put my head in their hands and I don’t give up until they pet me.

That’s about all for now…..If you think that you could be the right family for me, go on over to the website and get your application filled out. In the meantime I’ll be waiting for you!!

7/2/2018 Update:

Please welcome Grover to No Borders Bulldog Rescue. Grover is a 1.5 year old male Olde English Bulldog that weighs 48 lbs.

Grover joins the NBBR family as a stray. Grover was found as a stray and taken to a county animal shelter. The shelter that Grover was taken to is a high kill shelter.

The first things noted about Grover is that he is EXTREMELY thin.  You can see all of his ribs, spine and his hip bones are very prominent. Grover is also missing a couple of patches of fur.  And, he is carrying his back leg slightly.  He is not in any pain with the leg so we are going to allow him to gain some much needed weight and then will determine if this is because of malnourishment or due to another issue.  All bloodwork checked out well and Grover was ready to go.

When Grover initially met our volunteer to transport him to the vet, he was very timid.  Our volunteer began by petting him and as soon as the petting stopped, Grover quickly nudged his head to let our volunteer know he wanted the petting to continue.  Grover wanted to be in constant contact and made sure his head was always touching his transporter   Grover is very sweet guy. He does seem to be more timid and less trusting of men currently.   He will need time to trust all humans again but especially men.  Grover joined his foster family and is settling in nicely.  He has met his foster siblings and all is going well so far.  Grover’s main focus will be to gain some much needed weight and to build up his strength.  While very skinny he still has the energy and spirit of a puppy. Grover and his foster parents will be working on his trust issues and getting weight on him ASAP.  Stay tuned as Grover begins his journey from skinny abused shelter dog to a Bulldog that will be the apple of a new forever family’s eyes.
