9/30/2018 Update:

Gunnar (now Shiner) was ADOPTED!!!!   Shiner has now officially become the newest member of the NBBR alumnae club.
Shiner joined NBBR when a friend of rescue was asked if she knew anyone who might be interested in Shiner. His family, after just purchasing Shiner from a friend less than 2 weeks ago, decided he was more than they could handle. Shiner was said to be neutered, up to date on vaccinations and mostly crate trained.  He did still have an occasional accident in the crate. Some of those things turned out to be factual while others weren’t. After trying to find a home for him without any luck, we were asked if we could take Shiner in to rescue if she was able to rally supporters together to raise funds to purchase him. So, at just 6 months of age, Shiner had already had two “forever” families and found himself in rescue.
Shiner’s new forever family had applied to become an adoptive family before Shiner had joined NBBR.   They had lost their Bulldog earlier in the Spring.  Their Bulldog was EVERYTHING to them and they missed him dearly.  After taking time to grieve, they felt they missed the noise and fun that having a Bulldog adds to a house and were ready to open their hearts and home to a new family member.  So after completing the approval process they asked if they could meet Shiner to see if he would be a good fit. They meet Shiner and it was immediately apparent that he was “the one”.  From the first few minutes of meeting he was at ease and very comfortable with his new parents.  After taking an evening to think over this monumental decision, we received a call asking if they could adopt Shiner the next day.  As they say….”the rest is history”.  We are so happy that Shiner has found his forever family and he can now grow up safe and secure in a home that will allow him to be the Bulldog he was always meant to be.  Congratulation to Mom, Dad and Shiner.

9/17/2018 Update:

Hey there everyone!
It’s me, Gunnar, checking in again. I know it’s been a while…blame foster mom 😬
I’ve been doing really well the past few weeks and even got rewarded with doggy day care today! My foster sister has been battling an eye issue, so we don’t get to wrestle around as much as I’d like, so FM took me to play with a lot of new friends today. I was such a good boy and they even called her to let her know I was doing awesome. She even said I could go back next week to see them again. I can’t wait because I LOVE riding in the car. I can’t wait to jump in the backseat and perch my head over the seat hammock. Glad I got to check in with you all and will chat next week!

Please help the rescue by donating on North Texas Giving Day! Pups like me really need your help and people like NBBR can’t help us without it ❤️

8/27/2018 Update:  Hi everyone! It’s me, Gunnar, giving another update this week to let you know how I’m doing.
My week has been pretty normal, just lots of playtime with my foster sister and chewing on all my toys. My obsession this week has been a bear that squeaks when I bite on it, and somehow I tend to find it when foster mom is on a work call. Weird. I do have a lot of puppy energy, so I am lucky to have a foster sister to play with all day and a basket full of toys. I’ve met other dogs this week in my community and I’m very friendly towards them and their humans. I do love getting attention from everyone, but sit very patiently until they walk up to me. Foster mom says I’m just the sweetest boy! We also met some tiny humans and I didn’t jump on them and let them pet me while I stayed very cool and calm. Foster mom was very proud of me 🙂

I’m still looking for my forever home along with all my other friends at No Borders Bulldog Rescue. Please fill out an application to adopt or foster! They need the help so they can save more pups like me 🙂

8/20/2018 Update:  Gunnar here checking in again! I’ve had a great week of chasing around my foster sister and enjoying the cooler mornings. Foster mom wakes up early so she can walk us around the block before it gets too hot, and I LOVE it!

FM says I’m just the happiest boy and I always look like I’m smiling 🙂 I enjoy sitting (wiggling) around in her lap and not staying still so she can snap pictures of me lol. I do my best, but I’m just a pup that’s always on the move. Oh, and I discovered that I love when she shakes anything with ice in it, especially coffee! Still working on getting her to give me some, but she says “not a chance” 🙄.
Me and my NBBR Bulldog friends are still looking for our forever families! If you’d like to change one of our lives or thinking about fostering, please fill out an application online. We need all the help we can get ❤️
Love,
Gunnar

8/13/2018 Update:

Hey guys & gals!

Sorry I didn’t update you all last week, but I was very tired recovering from what foster mom called my “special surgery”. Don’t worry though, I was right back into action wrestling my foster sister and running around in no time! I had to go back to the vet today and get my stitches taken out, and I am super glad that’s all over with. The vet said I have some junk in my ears, so my foster mom puts drops in every day and has to flush them out once per week. I am not a huge fan of this, but I know I need it and give in and let her do it. I know they will be all healed up soon enough.

Potty training has been going really well for me and I have only had one accident in the house! I guess you could say I am pretty close to perfection 🙂 Foster mom calls me a little piggy because I LOVE to eat all the food and will take a treat any chance I get, but I am a growing boy after-all. A few other things I have been doing is learning how to sit and walk on the leash without running around like a wild man. Both are going well!

That’s all for now, but will catch up with you all again next week!

7/29/2018 Update:

Hi everyone!

Wanted to give everyone a quick update on how I am doing since settling into my permanent foster home. It’s only been a couple of days, but I made myself right at home with my foster sister and mom. Foster sister and I get along great and we love wrestling around and getting into mischief. I have a pretty nasty cough, but the medicines I’m taking seem to be working! I have to take about 12 meds each day right now and looking forward to not having to take any at all. Foster mom says I am super sweet and praises me for only going potty outside (so far lol), but I will work really hard to continue to! That’s all for now and I will update you next week after my vet visit and “special surgery”.

7/23/2018 Update:  Gunnar has had a busy week since coming into rescue. He has learned that Foster Grandma’s house always has treats, its fun to ride in jeeps and cats are not always happy to see you.  He went to Hollywood feed and was amazed by the wall of toys and picked out a squeaky ball for himself. Gunnar is full of puppy energy and is always looking for something to chew or play with. He loves balls and stuffed animals especially if they squeak.  He is learning to sit for treats and fetch a ball. He is good an a leash and in the car he likes to snuggle your arm as you drive. He gets neutered today then should be ready to search for his forever home.

7/20/2018 Update:   Please welcome Gunnar to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family.  Gunnar is a 6 month old male English Bulldog that weighs 38 lbs.

A friend of rescue was asked if she knew anyone who might be interested in Gunnar. His family, after just purchasing Gunnar from a friend less than 2 weeks ago, decided he was more than they could handle. Gunnar was said to be neutered, up to date on vaccinations and mostly crate trained.  He did still have an occasional accident in the crate.  After trying to find a home for him without any luck, we were asked if we could take Gunnar in to rescue if she was able to rally supporters together to raise funds to purchase him.
So, at just 6 months of age, Gunnar finds himself in rescue.  The owner met us at the vet and we soon discovered Gunnar did not have any vet records and he was definitely not neutered.  While at the vet, Gunnar will receive his first round of booster shots and will need to go back every three weeks until he is finished (3 rounds total).  He will also be microchipped and neutered. Initial evaluation found that Gunnar has an ear infection and a UTI, both of which will require antibiotics.  He will also require medicated baths to address a mild skin issue. Like many Bulldogs, Gunnar is allergic to chicken and will need to be on a limited ingredient diet to avoid any further allergy issues.
Gunnar is still all puppy.  He likes to jump up to greet everyone to make sure you know he is there and give him plenty of attention.  He will need work on his manners, chewing habits and leash training.  Gunnar will be staying with a temp foster family for a week or so until his foster Mom gets back from vacation.  Stay tuned as we learn more about Gunnar and help him to find the perfect forever family.
