6/9/2019 Update:

Harlie was ADOPTED!!!!! Miss H. is the newest member of the No Borders Bulldog Rescue Alumnae Club.

Harlie joined No Borders Bulldog Rescue as an owner surrender. We were contacted about a Bulldog being sold on social media and asked if we would take her into rescue.  The post was of an adorable, healthy, young Bulldog that was not spayed. An animal lover saw her post and immediately contacted the owner to make arrangements to pick her up before she fell into the wrong hands.  Well, imagine her surprise when she arrived at the meeting spot and saw Harlie.  Harlie was just a skeleton of the healthy Bulldog the owner presented in the photo and she knew immediately it was Harlie’s good fortune she was there to save her.  The original plan was that the volunteer would keep her overnight and we would make arrangements to pick her up and get her to the clinic.  But that changed instantly when it was noticed she was peeing blood.  Our volunteers jumped into action to ensure Harlie would get immediate vet care.  Harley was picked up and brought to the clinic. Harlie had lesions on her legs and body, overgrown nails, and was extremely emaciated. Harlie’s report from the clinic staff was a long one. While there was some good news mixed in the report, this little girl has not had the best of care.   The good news was that Harlie was heartworm negative.   Now the rest of the list….. Harlie had a severe umbilical hernia, cherry eye, she was anemic, had a bacterial intestinal infection, a urinary tract infection, had not been vaccinated and needed to be spayed.  Harlie needed a lot of TLC but all her aliments could be fixed.
After many months of healing and gaining the much needed pounds, Harlie was ready for her forever family.  She hit the JACKPOT!!! Forever Mom and canine forever sister couldn’t be happier to welcome Harlie to their family.  Forever sister is the typical big sister and attempts to keep Miss Harlie out of trouble. Not always successful, the two ladies are best of friends.   Harlie’s human sister came to her adoption photo shoot to welcome her to the family as well.  As you can see from the picture,  this is one happy family. Congratulations to the entire family.

5/13/2018 Update:

Lil Cutie Harlie is a little bully bundle of energy! She is so fun to have around, but still all puppy toddler and into everything.
This little girl just loves all people. She loves to go to Home Depot and will go up to anyone and lay at their feet for attention. She has her own fan club there!
Harlie is such a cute little girl. She loves going on walks and does very well on a leash. She is full of energy but enjoys snuggles when she is ready to settle down.  And she loves to play and wrestle with her bff fur sister.
Harlie has been very curious about the pool. She got on the first step on her own. Foster Sister is trying to show her how much fun swimming is but Harlie is not convinced yet. She does not like the chlorine floater…still barks at it every day.
Harlie is now at her ideal weight, too!  She had the softest fur ever and loves her velvety ears or super soft belly rubbed.

3/18/2019 Update:

Lil Cutie Harlie had so much fun at Pawdi Gras! She loves all the attention. She needed a really long nap after all the excitement.
Harlie is doing great! She has so much puppy energy. She is getting along great with her fur sister now as well. They play and wrestle all in between naps. She loves to play ball and tug o war.  She loves her walks and is great on a leash.
Harlie is such a cute little girl with a spunky personality.

2/25/2019 Update:

Lil Cutie Harlie is a very petite little girl. Her pictures make her look much larger than she really is.  She is about 34 lbs at 14 months so will likely stay very petite. The old saying dynamite comes in small packages sums up Harlie perfectly.

Harlie is a bundle of petite bully puppy energy. This girl can go and go and go…she plays very hard and a long time. She can go for a long walk and come back ready to play! But when she tires down she is a snuggle bug and very sweet. We have to keep very close tabs on her as she is like a toddler and into everything!  She is usually really good about playing with her toys and benebones, but if there is anything else around we can bet she will find it.  Toes are still a favorite we are working on breaking that painful habit.

Harlie loves to go in the car too.  She is very well behaved and likes to watch out the window.  She goes to Home Depot with FM and has quickly become a staff favorite. One guy even said he would have his good apron ready next time so he can take a picture with her 🙂
Harlie is doing much better getting along with other dogs.  She thinks she needs to be the boss and there is an occasionally feather ruffling but it is very short lived. We even had a very short game of chase this week so that is great progress.
Harlie is still all puppy but she is just so cute and irresistible!  Such a happy little bully baby!

2/7/2019 Update:

Lil cutie Harlie is doing great! She still needs to gain a little more weight but she is looking so good!
This petite girl has lots of puppy energy and is into everything! We are working on improving puppy manners, mostly on not biting her people during playtime. Harlie loves to play and she plays hard! She swings her toys around so hard she falls down 🙂 Her favorite is a squeaky ball, she will play ball as long as her person will throw it for her.
Harlie is just all around adorable!

1/31/2019 Update:

Lil cutie Harlie loved her trip Hollywood Feed this weekend!
She loves car rides and was checking out everything around her when FM stopped for gas.  She walked all over Hollywood Feed wooing everyone in the store, then picked out an elk antler and new toy pig. Pig lost an ear short time later. The antler was a big hit too.
Harlie is such a cute little girl! She is all puppy, into everything, loves to chew her benebones and antlers, very playful but will snuggle when she tires out. She loves her people but does not seem to care much for other dogs.
We are working on leash training too. This little girl is a leash puller and she is very strong! She has a new harness we are working with now to slow her down.
Ms Harlie loves her food. She sees us coming with her bowl and will spin in circles until bowl hits the floor.
Harlie is just all around adorable. She is a cute little petite girl with a huge personality. She has really developed alot of muscle and is filling out and looking amazing. Her head and ears are soft as velvet…she loves her ears rubbed.

1/21/2019 Update:

Lil Cutie Harlie got her spay stitches out this week and eye is looking good after cherry eye surgery. Harlie is a very spunky puppy that loves to be with her people. She is up to 32 pounds now and just look at the muscle she has developed!
Harlie is just adorable! She still needs some training and gentle reminders, but she is learning and it a very smart sassy girl.  She has alot of puppy energy, but once she is worn down after playtime she loves to snuggle.
This sweet girl has really come out of her shell and is thriving. She is a very sweet, cute, playful and energetic. She is still understandably totally obsessed with food and will counter surf if given the opportunity. She is doing better on gently taking treats too. She gladly inspects incoming grocery bags to see what is for her.
Ms Harlie is a true petite bully gem!

1/14/2019 Update:  Lil cutie Harlie is recovering from her spay and cherry eye surgeries very well. This spunky girl was only down for a day! She is not a fan of the eyedrops at all. She fought it first few times but we got our system down. She is very strong for such a little girl!

She is up to 32 lbs too! She is steadily putting on weight and looking good. She needs to continue gaining and that’s fine by her. She is understandably obsessed with food.  Even using a slow feed puzzle bowl she is finished with her food before her sisters and anxiously waits to see if they left a little in their bowls for her.
Harlie has been very vocal lately. Her voice is so tiny and adorable…just like the rest of her ❤
She LOVES to play, ball is her favorite. She will play a fun tug of war too. She’s into biting ankles too…we are working on breaking that…
Harlie is all puppy and just adorable. We are working on leash training, she loves to go out on leash but pulls alot..again she is very strong for being so little. She easily goes into her crate at night and sleeps through the night. She is a little sweetheart and will cuddle after burning off her energy playing.

1/3/2019 Update:

Look at this little cutie! She is gaining weight and her bald spots and sores are healing great! Harlie is just the cutest girl. She is absolutely obsessed with this blue ball.  She keeps her chin or paw on it when she naps too so she knows where it is always.  She is still puppy and is testing what she can chew on, but is happy when diverted to benebone. She still has puppy energy too and will play for a long time.  She is doing very good on potty training too…few accidents but over all very good.
Keep Harlie in your thoughts, she goes to Dr. for spay and cherry eye surgery Friday.

12/17/2018 Update:

Cute little Ms. Harlie had a great week. She is a little bundle of bully energy. Harlie is doing good with potty training too. She will not have any accidents as long as she is consistently taken outside.
Harlie is little love bug too. She lets us know when she wants to be picked up and rewards us with lots of hugs. She loves to give hugs. She is filling out and her skin lesions are mostly healed. She is on the smaller side, even though she is filling out she is a petite girl. Since first few days at foster home she is not shy at all, and we have not seen her flinch or back up when we pet or love on her. Actually quite the opposite now…Ms. Harlie loves attention.

Harlie is still all about her food. She gets super excited at breakfast and dinner and will run in circles until her food is put down. She is doing great taking treats without taking fingers too. Harlie is smart and eager to learn, especially when food is involved.
Harlie is still puppy and has puppy energy, but she is also happy to curl up beside her people or chew on her Benebone.  She is such a cute little girl with so much personality!

12/10/2018 Update:  Lil cutie Harlie had a great week. She is adjusting very well to her new environment. She is gaining weight, filling out, and the bad sore on her front leg is almost healed. She is still way too excited about her food and requires a slow feed bowl. If she happens to get access to another food bowl it is gobbled up in seconds…she is so fast! She calmly lets us put cream on her sores and clean tear stains easily.

Harlie is adorabull! She started playing with toys this week too. So far she just plays with the plastic squeaky toys,  but we caught her trying to play with a soft toy too.
Harlie is doing great with potty training too. She is learning quickly and we have had no accidents in several days.
She’s a little too excited around the resident pup so we are keeping her on a leash when around fur sister. She is improving on this as she continues to settle in and learn the routines of our home. She sleeps thru the night in her crate without a peeo.
Harlie is such a great little bully. She had a very sweet personality and loves to be held and her ears rubbed. Great things come in small packages, right?

12/3/2018 Update:

Ms. Harlie is such a cutie!  She has a very sweet personality and loves to be close to her people. She has been with Foster Family since Thursday, FF gained her trust pretty quickly. She does not flinch now when we reach to pet her, and she will gladly let us pick her up and we are rewarded with sweet bully hugs and kisses!
Harlie is a very petite girl too.. She walks very well on a leash. She has also been very good about doing her business outside. We have had a few accidents but they have been by the door so she knows where to go. With frequent breaks and consistency we have had no accidents for 2 days now.
As expected Ms. Harlie is all about the food. Who can blame her we know she was starving!  She eats faster than any dog we have ever seen.  We started with slow feeder bowl with raised middle and that slowed her down but not much. She now has the puzzle slow feeder bowl and it is working great with her  She was pushing it around the floor the first try, but quickly figured out to keep her paw on it to keep it still.  She very quickly learned “easy” when taking treats, thank goodness cause foster family thought we were gonna lose some fingers!
She already has an incredible amount of puppy energy even without being 100% yet.  This sweet girl is a real go getter!
The resident fur sisters have not warmed up to her just yet.  She tried nursing on each of them, so they are curious but understandably keeping their distance from her, so we are keeping with slow introductions for now.  Hopefully as she continues to settle in she will figure out fur sister for playing, although it is little sisters job to pester older siblings.
So far Harlie has no interest in toys, but she will play with her humans hands. She loves her Benebone and will chew it for a long time.  She is like a toddler resisting her naps during the day too. She wants in the middle of anything going on, no time for napping.  She loves to cuddle when she finally slows down enough.
Harlie has been great about letting us clean her eyes and the wound on her leg…once she figure out it’s not food in our hands anyway, but she always checks just in case.  Again this baby is all about the food!  We could not keep her from licking the wound on her leg. She is not a fan of the cone so FM cut up a pool noodle into smaller pieces and put on her collar. It is just enough to keep her away from the wound but not uncomfortable.
Harlie easily goes into her crate and sleeps thru the night without a peep…surely exhausted from no napping all day 🙂
This is one awesome little bully baby. She needs some training as she is still puppy, but she is catching on to the spoiled life very quickly.  She is the just the cutest little girl!

11/27/2018 Update:    Please welcome Harlie to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family.  Harlie is a 1 year old female Bulldog that weighs 26 lbs.

Yesterday morning we were contacted about a Bulldog being sold on social media and asked if we would take her into rescue.
Harley was picked up and brought to the clinic yesterday afternoon.  Many thanks to all of the people involved who dropped everything to make sure Harley got immediate medical attention.
From initial observation, Harlie has lesions on her legs and body, overgrown nails, and is extremely emaciated. Harlie’s report from the clinic staff was a long one. While there was some good news mixed in the report, this little girl has not had the best of care.   The good news is Harlie is heartworm negative.   Now the rest of the list….. Harlie has a severe umbilical hernia, cherry eye, she is anemic, has a bacterial intestinal infection, a urinary tract infection, has not been vaccinated and needs to be spayed.  The staff has ordered some lab tests that will not be back until later today, but it appears that while Harlie will need a lot of TLC, all her aliments can and will be fixed.  Currently we are going to wait to correct her hernia, cherry eye and spay surgery. Dr. H wants to give her some time to gain some much needed weight and strength.  Harlie will start on antibiotics to address her infections and a vitamin to help with the anemia.  Once she has gained some weight and is stronger, we will schedule the necessary surgeries.
Harlie had a very busy day yesterday. After she was picked up from her surrendering family she went to what was going to be her temporary foster home. They gave Harlie a bath, introduced her to the other dogs, kids and cats at the house.  Harlie did well with everyone she met.  She was very obviously scared and timid.  It appears she may have been physically abused in the past, any time someone approaches her she cowers in fear.  We are not sure if this is due to the trauma of the day or this is something longterm. Either way she will have all the love, attention and support she needs to completely heal.   Once she is released from the clinic (hopefully soon) she will join her foster family for some much needed R&R and TLC.  Please keep Miss Harlie in your thoughts and prayers.  She has had a very rough start to her young life, but that all changed yesterday…….
