Harper has just been amazing.  She tends to be shy when meeting someone new or in a new setting, but once settled, she is very affectionate and playful.  She loves her plush toys and will play a little bit of fetch.  She understands some basic commands like “sit” but she still needs a little more work in training.  She isn’t terribly food motivated and leaving food out, she will just eat as needed.  On walks, she pulls just a little and sometimes gets excited with other dogs.  However, most of the time she does ignore other people and dogs.  This is still an area to work on.  She loves to cuddle and will sleep on the bed if allowed so be prepared for a sleeping partner.  Harper really is a very sweet and caring dog.  I have not witness any rough or nipping behavior and I wish her the best in finding a forever home immediately.

Please welcome Harper to No Borders Bulldog Rescue. Harper is a 2-year-old female Olde English Bulldog that weighs approximately 

Harper joins the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family by way of owner surrender to a local small-town shelter.   The issue with Harper was that she was surrendered to a very small shelter that doesn’t have a vet on staff and they can’t do anything that is required.  Harper was a young intact female and due to this needed to be spayed before she could be adopted.  Because they don’t have a vet, the shelter couldn’t do that, and this made her days numbered in the shelter.  NBBR has pulled a couple of Bulldogs from this shelter previously and a staff remembered us.   A call was made to see if we had an opening. Luckily for Harper we did and as they say, they rest is history. Harper wasn’t “local” but she was closer than most of the recent intakes.  So the logics of her intake were a little easier and happened very quickly. 

Harper’s first stop once joining No Borders Bulldog Rescue was the clinic to get a complete check-up.  For the most part Harper is in great shape.  She is negative for heartworm and all GI parasites.   She did need to be brought up to date on all of her vaccinations since she had not been to the vet since she was a puppy and she has a skin infection.   Nothing major and all things were addressed before she went to her foster home to rest, relax and get ready for her spay surgery that has been scheduled. Due to the busy summer schedule, the clinic has a wait list for all surgeries so that is why Harper is chilling and waiting. 

Harper is a energetic young lady.  She does tend to be somewhat timid when she first meets new people, but with patience she warms up quickly.   While in the shelter she was indifferent to the dogs around her.  Neither overly excited to meet them nor wanting to chew their face off (both of which is a good thing).  According to the shelter notes, she was surrendered by a family that had a small child and did very well.  It appears that she was surrendered for time and financial reasons. Once comfortable in her surroundings, she is energic and loves to explore.  She wants to visit every corner of the entire place.  Having come in through the shelter system, we don’t have a lot of background like we do when the pups are surrendered directly to us by their owners.  With that said, stay tuned for weekly updates on Ms. H as she settles into her new foster digs.  We are positive that as she gets more comfortable, her true perky personality will be even more on display.
