Foster Update: Week 3 with Draco & Leia 🐾
Three weeks in, and these two Frenchie siblings are settling into life at Casa de Fosters like they own the place (Biscuit, our English Bulldog, has graciously allowed it).
The Personalities
Draco is the definition of chill: super derpy, moves through the world like nothing’s ever urgent, and loves everyone he meets. Zero drama, all vibes.
Leia likes most people too, though she’s still working out her feelings about Biscuit specifically. But hand her a toy and you’ll see her true personality shine… that girl is obsessed. If it squeaks, crinkles, or can be proudly paraded around the house, it’s hers now.
Health Update
Leia came to us with a pretty gnarly skin issue, and while she’s not red-carpet ready yet, she’s on a slow-and-steady healing streak and looking better by the day.
And in “growing up too fast” news, both pups got the snip-snip yesterday! We braced ourselves for a rough day of sad puppy eyes and dramatic sighing… and instead got two dogs who bounced back like nothing happened. Honestly a little insulted at how easy they made it look.

Help Leia and Biscuit find their groove together, and keep an eye on that skin as it keeps healing up.

Please welcome Leia to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue. Leia is a 3-year-old female French Bulldog that weighs 22 lbs.
Leia and her “brother” (Draco) join the NBBR family by way of owner surrender. While Leia and Draco are not littermates, they have been together essentially their whole lives. Leia is the older pup, but just by about 3 months. Their previous family had some changes in their family life and were no longer able to provide the pair the life that they knew they deserved. They reached out to No Borders Bulldog Rescue and asked if we would be able to help. In the Rescue world, summer is a very season. Actually, every season is busy, but summer is even more so than the others. On top of being extremely busy, Summer 2026 has been the “Summer of the bonded pair”. Bonded pairs pose a couple of challenges for Rescues. The first being that it takes a very special and dedicated foster home to take two at once. While you get twice the fun and loving, you also get twice the work. The second challenge is that bonded pairs tend to take longer to find the right adopter (see number one). So, this means that the foster family may have their fosters even longer that if they have a single foster. But we have been VERY fortunate this summer that we have not one, not two but THREE current foster families that have stepped up and taken a bonded pair. So, when the family reached out, we were able to yes, we are able to help. Like many of our new Bulldogs, Draco and Leia were not “local”. Nor were their foster family or were the surrendering family and foster family close to one another. What that meant was our Transport Team kicked it into high gear and got it done.
The first stop for Leia was to the clinic to get all the necessary checks for her to be cleared to go to her new foster home. We knew she needed to be spayed but she had not been to the vet for a while, so we got a complete check-up. All in all, we received a good report on Miss L. She is heartworm negative and free of any GI bugs. She did have a couple of “routine” Bulldog issues. She has a skin infection which is more severe than Draco’s and some ear crud (highly technical term). It appears that Leia’s skin issue may have started as allergies and due to excessive scratching, it became further infected. She was started on antibiotics and a medicated shampoo for her skin and prescribed a flush for her ears. The good news is that she doesn’t mind the baths and doesn’t put up too much of a fight when flushing her ears. We also updated all her vaccinations, and she was good to go. Due to the busy summer schedule, the clinic isn’t able to get her spayed for a couple weeks, BUT it has been scheduled and she and Draco will be going together.
Leia is the more reserved and timid one of this dynamic duo. But she warms up quickly. Leia came from a house with 4 human kids, so she is used to the hustle and bustle of a busy household. She does enjoy her quiet time as well and is more of the cuddler of the two. While Draco is always ready for an adventure and up for a good wrestle fest, especially with his new foster sister (English Bulldog), Leia not as much. She isn’t aggressive in that she wants to attack, but she doesn’t know how to introduce herself. Her foster family thinks it’s because she is used to bossing Draco around and wants to do that with everyone. This is a new environment for everyone, so they are taking it slow and working on everyone’s playtime manners. He and Leia are both settling into their new foster home nicely.
