11/24/2019 Update:

Max has been ADOPTED!

Max AKA ‘Saint Max’ has been adopted! Max has so much to be Thankful for on Thanksgiving eve!

Max joined the NBBR family as a double surrender. Max was rescued from a situation where he was being kept in a crate for the entire day, every day. The family that rescued him from his first bad situation intended to find him a forever home on their own. But after three months, they were unable to find one. On top of that, the rescuer’s personal dog was not a fan of Max. They called NBBR and asked if we could take him in. Like many of the dogs we are contacted about, he was far away and it took coordination to get him to us. He was underweight, behind on his vaccinations as he had not seen a vet since he was 7 months old. He was not neutered, and had a serious skin infection. This handsome guy weighed in a light 45 pounds!

Max put on weight, got rid of the skin infection and turned out to be a wonderful companion in his foster home. He was weak and had very little muscle mass. He now weighs in at 62 pounds and can take a good long walk. The only issues left are a severe toy obsession, he needs drops in his eyes and is prone to cysts between his toes. Max was dubbed ‘Saint Max’ by his foster family and gained many fans on our social media.

At Max’s very first NBBR event he met a couple that had already submitted their adoption application. They spent time with Max that day. They were there to meet another dog, but over the months their thoughts kept returning to Max.

They were looking for a special guy to add to their bulldog home. After a few more calls, meetings (at events) and discussion it was time for the first full family meeting! Max got to see his dads again and meet the other dogs!  At the meet and greet, Max met his future brothers, and they all hit it off! We thrive to find the family that is best for the dog, and it takes time. Our process is in place to ensure that the dogs land in their forever and ever home. We know that Max has found his! Saint Max finally gets to live his best life, and has brothers who like him! We wish Max and the entire family the very best Happily Ever After!

11/14/2019 Update:

Saint Max checking in! It has been a while since my Foster mom updated my fans. She has been ‘busy’. I am not sure what that means, I am busy too. I am getting busy living a good life! When I came into No Borders, I weighed about 45 pounds. Now I am 62 pounds. I look good!

I have met lots of people that are interested in me, and that makes me happy. It also makes me happy to tell people about all the GREAT dogs we have in our program. We have big ones, and little ones, active ones and lazy ones, we have some that are taller than me, and some that are shorter. Some of them need other dogs and some can be a families one and only! But enough about them, lets talk about me!
Just so all my potential families know I get along great with other dogs, but that does not mean I need other dogs. My toy obsession requires my foster family to have supervised toy time, or segregated toy time. They make it work. My Foster brother is a high energy dog that gets all worked up when I get all worked up then we all are worked up and that is not good. Sometimes I think I would love to be an only dog, but if that is not possible, have a family with a laid back dog or dogs that could care less if I have ALL the toys. I am not aggressive with toys, just NEED to have them. I am also a full contact snuggler. I must be touching my FM when we watch TV, I lay on her feet when she ‘works’. I love to get in the sheets and in the bed. Sometimes if am feeling especially clingy I want to lay my face on her neck when I sleep. I follow her from room to room.  And oh boy, can I snore. This past week, I rolled on my back and got the best bully rub from my FM. I have been with her a while now, and this was the first time. It takes time to trust. But, with time, my foster family has earned it, and I reward them with more love and companionship than they know what to do with.
Peace, Love, Snacks and Naps
Saint Max

10/14/2019 Update:

Saint Max checking in! I had a great time at the event at Shannon’s Brewery this past weekend. I didn’t get to have beer, but I did get to see a lot of my foster family! I also got to meet some great people. Maybe my forever family was there, stranger things have happened. Last year I was skinny, itchy, lonely and left in a crate. Now look at me. –  A work or art, a vision of beauty? Our just a great Bulldog that is living his best life, you decide.
I am not sure why my foster mamma call me ‘Saint Max’. I am not perfect, I do have ‘bad boy’ tendencies too. Here is the good, bad and ugly
Good – Handsome, healthy, sweet, loving, attentive, and non reactive. I love kids, I could care less about dog drama. I am an awesome co pilot in the car. I am the BEST snuggler on the planet.
Bad – I follow my people around non stop. It doesn’t matter if they are using the bathroom, in the shower, sleeping, laundry, or whatever. I am their shadow. This could be very irritating for some people.  I do not want to be alone. I don’t want to loose these people that take good care of me. Right now I am laying ON TOP of my Foster Mom’s feet while I dictate this to her, that way I know if she gets up.
Ugly – ok, here it is. I have an addiction, I am OBSSESED with toys. If I see my mamma with something that looks like a toy, I want it. Even if it is a towel, or throw pillow. We are working on healthy toy play and my fixation. Sometime they hide the toys, but I always know where. And as soon as that room is accessed or closet door opened, I will Bully my way in to have the Toys! I think I may like kids because they always have toys. I have never had toys before. But now that I have, I am hooked. I don’t destroy them. I just want to lay on them all posses them all. I don’t want to fight over toys, or bite over toys, I just want to HAVE them. My foster brother finds this upsetting sometimes, so we have supervised structured play time. So if you have a dog, I hope he or she is cool with sharing toys. Maybe one day I will be too.
Peace, Love, Snacks & Naps!
Max , the bad boy saint

10/7/2019 Update:

Saint Max checking in. My foster family went away for a few days in the RV. I did not want them to leave. I planted my rhino feet and the nice lady had to drag me away from my temporary mamma. When my foster dad picked me up, I jumped for joy! I Love people. People are my favorite thing in the world! When I got home I followed my FM around from room to room and really wanted her to just sit down so we could catch up. When she sleeps, I want to lay my head on her and snore. She thinks my snores are white noise and they are best sleep aid. I am a bit obsessive with my toys. I know where they are kept and watch for any chance I can get to them. So I declare Toy out Tuesday ! Toys are the 2nd best thing in the whole world!

9/29/2019 Update:

Saint Max checking in! My foster mom wants you all to know that even if i am the most loving, goofy bulldog ever I am still a bulldog! Bulldogs are very special, we are funny, loving, great companions and sometimes we need trips to see the doctor. This past week we woke up to find that i had grown an impressive cyst between my toes, it hurt real bad. So off to see Doctor H. He said it was just a silly cyst and that with antibiotics and steroids it would clear up in no time. After we saw the doctor, I got to go to work with my Foster mom. I love riding in the car. I slept in the floor and supported her while she clicked, typed and sighed at the computer. Everyone gave me lots of attention, so I don’t understand why work makes her so sad. I love going to the office. Another thing about Bulldogs is that we LOVE food! I was told I needed to put on some weight, so I have focused on that. Now I am told that I need to maintain my weight, and I am not a fan of this. If she would let me, I could really pack on the pounds. If it would cool off a bit, we could walk more and that would help me maintain, but it is still so hot! So my walks are limited. I get a little stir crazy sometimes, and that makes me have the zoomies and act like a total goof ball! It makes my foster parents laugh and call me a silly good boy. I love it when they call me that. If I had a tail, I would reply with a full on wag! I love people so much, I would rather be with people than other dogs for sure. I don’t mind them, but people are the BEST! Especially kids, kids make me happy. Being alone makes me sad, I was left alone A LOT before No Borders saved me so i always want to be with my humans.

If you want a loving side kick, please check out our adoptable dogs and fill out an application! We always need fosters, adopters and volunteers! If you cant do those, feel free to donate! We appreciate it! I plan on being at the event on the 12th, so come meet me and tell me I am good boy!

Peace, love, snacks and naps,
Saint Max

9/23/2019 Update:

Saint Max checking in. I am looking forward to finding my forever home. My fosters are great, they have me healthy and ready for a life and family of my own. My stamina is up, I can take longer walks and my weight is a perfect 60 pounds! My coat is soft and my skin is itchy no more! I love to play with toys, and if I cant find them I will bring you my food bowl to tug! I am super smart and stand right in front if the fan if I get a burst of play energy and get a little hot. I am looking forward to football sundays! Laying on the couch sleeping soundly while the fosters cheer on the cowboys was a good Sunday in my book!

9/15/2019 Update:

Saint Max checking in. My foster parents tell me I am looking good! I have put on weight and they always have me working on my muscles. I didn’t have many before, but with tug, walks and play they are starting to show! They can’t feel my spine or ribs anymore, and I have muscle definition. My foster mamma calls me her ‘house hippo’. I thought about this and what I have seen on TV about hippos. So on one of our walks I acted like a hippo and laid down in the murky pond. Isn’t that how hippos stay cool? She wasn’t so happy, to put me in the car. But after a bath, I was all handsome again. Maybe she will buy me a baby pool of my own, like our niece has.

From the Fosters: Saint Max is ready for his forever home. This young man is so endearing and will have your heart in no time. He will follow you around, because he wants to be with his family. He is not aloof like some bullies, but an attentive snuggle bug. If you have kids, cats, other dogs, an active house or a quiet one Max is a perfect fit! He loves a walk around the block, a ride in the car, or a visit with friends and family! He can be a bit obsessive with toys, but never aggressive. He does have a love of water so that will be an area of caution. If you want a saint in your life, fill out our application and maybe its Max!

8/26/2019 Update:

Happy days from Max! My Foster Family went on vacation so I spent a week boarding with Doctor H and the Crew. They report that I am a sweet playful boy! When my Foster Family picked me up, I was so excited to see them. I gave them a full body Bulldog Wiggle and lots of love. They were wondering if I would be as excited to see them as my brother was. Of coarse I was! My life is so much better than it ever has been! No more long days in a crate or living with dogs that pick on me. I have time to make up, so I plan on playing, loving and being a silly boy from now on! When we got home, I was so excited, I gathered up all the toys and laid them in a pile on my bed. After I gave them all a good chew and play, I carried my dogs bowls to my bed and acted silly. When my foster moms says ‘you are such a good boy’ I get so happy and show her with a little goofiness.  I love to snuggle, but I also love to play!
I hope my forever family out there is prepared to play, love, snuggle and laugh along with me! My potential family can have other dogs, cats, kids, active or quiet homes. I am versatile! I have no current health issues. My weight is almost perfect, skin is clear and healthy. I love to take walks, ride in a car, chill  or socialize with people. When my foster mom takes me to her office, everyone tells me what I perfect boy I am.  I always potty outside, listen carefully, and know a few commands. I love to play in the water too, I always wear my life vest, because we are not sure if I sink!  In a short time, I have adapted flawlessly to my foster family, and am so ready to have a family of my own!
I will be at the event on September 7th at Old Town Brew House in Lewisville. Come meet me!
Peace, love, silliness, snacks and naps,
Saint Max

8/11/2019 Update:

Saint Max checking in! I am happy to report that I am doing great, and that this family thing makes me happy! If I had a tail I would be all wags! I have not found one thing that I don’t like about it (besides being alone).
This week I went to the office with my foster mom. She goes there and does ‘work’. She told me I had to be on my best behavior, and if I was good I could go back with her. Well guess what? I was SUPER good, so i get to go back! I lay in her office, chewed on toys, got lots of attention from her coworkers and even a few treats. I let her know when I need to go outside, didn’t bark while people were on the phone and everyone seemed much happier with me there. I did squeak my opossum toy pretty loud and snored, but she said that was ok. If my new forever family wanted a good boy to take to the office, I am your guy!
We also had an event for our rescue group. Me and my fosters went, met other bulldogs and one crazy cute frenchie named Pearl. She thought I was handsome and we became friends. I also met a few families that spent sometime with me, and they seemed very nice. My foster mamma told everyone I am such a good boy, and that I would be good for just about any family. I get along with other dogs, cats, and kids.
We also went to see my foster grandparents. They have a pool, grandkids, 3 dogs and cats! It was a good thing my fosters brought my life jacket, because I like the pool! I am not afraid of anything and will jump in with all 4 paws! I would walk out on the raft and float around in the pool. Since bulldogs tend to sink, you will need to keep a close eye on me if you have a pool.
Max will be a great dog for many types of families. He does great with dogs, cats, kids and is 100% housebroken. Max walks great on a leash, he is perfect in the car.  Max has a giant heart and would love to give it all to his forever family.
Peace, love, snacks and naps,
Max

8/4/12019 Update:

Saint Max, checking in!

I have had a great week! My foster family says I am AMAZING. The doctor cleared me for playing and was happy to see I am up to 54 pounds! I gained 8 pounds in 10 days so I got to pick out a new toy from the pet supply store!  My skin is healing up nicely, and I am feeling good! I still need drops for my eyes, but I don’t mind it. I love food, my foster mamma says its probably because I haven’t consistently had it. But, I am not grumpy about food or other animals when I am eating.  I love toys, all sorts of toys. Balls, squeaky toys, and tug toys. I don’t always like to share my toys. My foster mamma says I probably never had toys of my own so I don’t want to give them up. I love to take walks, I don’t pull on the leash, anyone can walk me. My foster grandma walked me and called me a ‘dream’.
My most favorite thing is cuddling. I like to sit respectfully on the couch while my family watching tv. I want to lay close enough to touch. And if they want to scratch me, that makes me happy too.
This week I got to sleep outside of the crate all night. My family was so proud of me. I didn’t chew anything up, have any accidents, and was perfect! I don’t hate the crate, but I LOVE to snuggle in the bed.
Me and my foster mom went to her friends art studio on Saturday. The studio has a fisty chihuahua named Bella. She growled and barked at me. I just lay down and looked adorable and she finally gave in and made friends with me. I like to ignore high energy dogs and eventually they come around, and if they dont it is no big deal to me. I also met a bunch of cats! Cats are crazy and I treated them the same way. I dont get to excited about other animals, but if they want to make friends that’s cool with me!
Max still impresses us with his easy going nature and endless love. He would do good in almost any family situation.  He would do fine with cats, other dogs, busy or calm households. He doesn’t like to be alone, he wants to be close to people and genuinely loves companionship.  He is a lovabull boy!
Peace, love, snacks and naps,
Saint Max
AKA Max

7/29/2019 Update:

Max is settling in to his new home & family. Max is a bit underweight, but he has assured us he is wholeheartedly committed to putting some on. His skin was a bit itchy, but is clearing up nicely with excellent nutrition, medication and rest. He is a laid back guy that wants to be close to you. His favorite place is peacefully sleeping on the couch while maintaining contact, unless someone opens the fridge. I wouldn’t mistake Max for a lazy dog, when he has spotted a toy, he gets excited. As soon as he is 100% healed from his neuter surgery, we will figure out what his favorite toy and play time is. Max gets along wonderful with his foster brother, the over excited family English Bulldog, Mike. Mike has tested Max’s patience this week and Max has not reacted. This handsome guy should be named Saint Max.
As we get to know him, we will pass along more information. With the time we have spent, My initial reaction is that he will do well with a wide variety of families. He has not reacted to other dogs or kids, bunnies or cats on our quick walks, He is a rock star on a leash. He rides well in the car. He has not had an accident in the house or chewed up anything! He sleeps fine in a crate or on the bed. This is an amazing dog that will make a wonderful family member!
Peace, love, snacks and Naps,
Max The Magnificent

7/17/2019 Update:

Please welcome Max to No Borders Bulldog Rescue.  Max is a 4 year old male English Bulldog that weighs 46 lbs.

Max joins the NBBR family as a double surrender.  Max was rescued from a situation where he was being kept in a crate for essentially the entire day. The initial family willingly signed Max over to the new family. The family that rescued him from this bad situation intended to find Max a forever home on their own. But after 3 months of looking and not being able to find a suitable home for Max and the fact that one of their existing dogs was not being nice to Max, they called NBBR and asked if we would take Max and help find him a forever home.

Like many dogs that are surrendered to No Borders Bulldog Rescue, Max was many hours away from where he needed to be.  But after a few emails and a coordinated effort, the volunteers of NBBR had made it possible for Max to get from point A to DFW where we went directly to the clinic. Upon reviewing Max’s records it was found that he had not been to the vet since he was 7 months old (except for a quick trip two months ago for antibiotics). We received some good news, Max was heartworm and intestinal worm free.  However, Max was not up to date on any vaccinations and needed to be neutered. Max also has dry eye and a serious skin infection.  Max is on the skinny side, it appears that a few more pounds will do him good and make him even more handsome.

When Max was picked up for his final leg of the journey to DFW, he immediately jumped into the NBBR volunteer’s car and was ready to hit the road. Max does well in the car. However it took him about an hour to finally settle in and rest. Before that, he was up, he was down, he wanted to look out the window, he wanted in the front seat, he wanted in the back seat. You get the idea, it was almost like traveling with a human toddler.  Max is very chill and loves everyone.  When at his temporary foster home before going to the clinic, he accidently met several of the resident dogs.  We say accidently, because we always try to do slow introductions with all our new Bulldogs. While we thought that Max was secure in a room by himself while a bed was being made for him, Max had other ideas.  Somehow, when our volunteer came out to get Max, he was already out of his secure room and playing with the other dogs. From that experience we can say that Max gets along great with everyone (both humans and canines).  Max appears to be a chill kinda guy.  He is house trained. Max would rather be with his humans that in a crate (we think that is due to the fact that he spent so much time alone in a crate previously) and who can blame in! Max is now currently settling in with his new foster family and all reports are that he is doing GREAT!!! Stay tuned as this handsome guy starts his journey to find his forever home, with his rugged good looks and winning personality, it should be an easy search.
