4/15/2024 Update:
Oscar had a stressful week with the storms but we keep him calm with a cbd treat he enjoys and cuddles from his humans. When it storms, we keep the tv on with a “peaceful calming dog” video to help with the lighting and thunder. When the weather was nice, Oscar really enjoys a quick snooze on the patio! He spends most of his time hogging the king sized bed but shares it with his cat siblings willingly. We started taking Oscar on nightly walks, three times a week, to help get him a little exercise. We are a short distance to our mailboxes so it’s the perfect distance for Oscar without pushing him too much. He’s been a good boy and is beloved by many of our neighbors out on their nightly walks.

3/26/2024 Update:
Oscar survived spring cleaning at our place this past week! Oscar’s nemesis “Mr. Vacuum” was on full attack…or so Oscar thought and boy oh boy did he protect his foster mom with lots of barking. Since the weather has been nice, Oscar was able to escape to the outside and be free of “Mr. Vacuum.” He did great outside and enjoyed laying in the sun and watching the ducks in the pond. As always, he spent plenty of time napping and wanting to get a close as possible to his cat siblings.
3/18/2024 Update:
We had a chill week at home and Oscar did what Oscar does best…nap and snooze his day away! When Oscar isn’t snoozing, he is enjoying all the pets, rubs and love from his foster moms. He loves to follow me around the apartment and is known to take a snooze on the floor right outside the shower. He loves going outside with his cat brother and they just hang on the patio and watch the birds and other dogs. Oscar’s biggest annoyance is any scary sudden noise. He barks when something scares him and gets nervous from the unknown noise. He calms easily but patience is key with Oscar.

3/7/2024 Update:
Oscar has been loooovingggg the beautiful warmer weather. It’s the sweet spot for bulldogs…not too hot, not too cold, perfect snoozing time on the patio! The worst thing about this time of year is the storms for Oscar. He gets anxious and barks when there is thunder or loud wind but like to sequester everyone in the bathroom for safety. This past week, Oscar was getting off the couch and his dew claw got caught and ripped. He was a trooper and let me clean it but he wouldn’t let me clip it safely and would growl and thrash around. He doesn’t bite but he doesn’t do well with having his nails trimmed. As a result, Oscar goes to the vet to get his nails trimmed safely. It’s the best result for him and we know that if he gets too hot (a common bulldog problem) he’s in the safest place. He bounces back quickly and calms down by full splooting on the cold tiles of the floor. We’re excited to see everyone at the next meetup!!

1/28/2024 Update:
Oscar has been a sweet cuddly guy this past week. He’s had lots of energy and loves his playtime with his toys. He’s been loving nap time with his cat siblings and wants to get as close as possible without being overwhelming to them. He does great with them! We continue to take daily care of Oscar’s fold and wrinkles and he does a great job tolerating it….our next task is to try to get him comfortable getting his nails cut! Small steps for Oscar but he’s a brave boy that loves his cheese for a reward after!

12/28/2023 Update:
Things with Oscar have been wonderful! He enjoyed a nice cozy quiet Christmas with his foster family and cat siblings. He enjoys going out at night once the Christmas lights are on and just sits and watches them for a bit. He’s always intrigued and quietly and a bit apprehensively watching his surroundings when he is outside. He doesn’t bark too often just when another dog might be getting walked next to our fence but he calms down easily. Around 7 PM, he is ready to get in a bed and go “night night” but that doesn’t actually happen until closer til 8 PM so for about an hour he might whine or cry occasionally to show his dissatisfaction. He also gives the most pitiful eyes when he wants something from you….most times Oscar wins and us humans cave to his precious face!

Dear Santa,
12/4/2023 Update:
Oscar has been loving the cooler weather and really enjoys napping on the couch or in the bed! We’ve had to increase his face cleanings this past week to make sure his folds aren’t getting gross but luckily no scratchies. Oscar also got a bath this past weekend and didn’t know how he felt about it but didn’t fight us after the initial bathtub introduction, so that was good!
11/20/2023 Update:
Oscar had lots of energy this week! He’s living his best life and enjoyed lots of pets and love with family and friends visiting over the weekend 🌞

10/30/2023 Update:
It’s Oscar’s time to shine with the colder weather. It’s comfy cozy time to nap and drool all over the place. Oscar seems to have more energy because of the cooler weather so he loves his daily fetch or tug a war with foster moms! Now he brings his toy right up to us and loves playing on the bed….he’s such a cute rascal!
10/16/2023 Update:
Oscar is LOVING this weather! We had a field trip to The Truckyard to see everyone this weekend and he had a blast getting ALL the pets. He loves a good neck/ear scratches and booty scratches! Oscar enjoys his field trips but taps out around the two hour mark. The rest of the day was for napping and cuddles, of course!

10/3/2023 Update:
Oscar’s week was spent hanging out with his cat siblings and enjoying his mornings hogging the bed and pillows. He also enjoyed a nice “paw” day and got his nails trimmed! It’s not his favorite activity but he puts up with it and enjoys a treat afterwards!
9/25/2023 Update:
Once again, storms came through and Oscar spent most of the night barking and pacing around. He does best in the bathrooms with his humans and gets lots and lots of pets and loves. After a long night, today was a lazy day loving on his cat sisters and lounging in bed
9/18/2023 Update:
Oscar had a nice “lazy bones” weekends. He lounged in all his favorite spots! The bathroom floor, the couch, the bed, mama’s lap….you name it, Oscar has snoozed there and he loves every tootin minute. Yes tootin included with the snoozin’
9/7/2023 Update: Oscar is living his best life in the AC these days! Keeping it cool as he is 😎 Don’t forget to keep the potty breaks short and to the point! Oscar doesn’t do well outdoors and likes being indoors with his foster moms. Oscar has been doing great with his daily face wipes and tolerates them well!
4/4/2023 Update:
Oscar had a wonderful “paw” day last week! He got a bath and a nail trim and smelled like a daisy when we got him home. I will say, Oscar was NOT fond of the flooring at the groomers…..at one point I had to pick him up and carry him to the back. He’s very particular when it comes to any sort of slick surfacing but loves a good cool flooring to cool his belly off!

1/10/2023 Update:
Oscar has been a man on the move! He traveled around with foster moms throughout the holiday season and strutted his stuff! Oscar does great when traveling and enjoys going on car rides. Oscar interacted with two others dogs during this time and is very submissive around other dogs. One of the dogs was very excited and was all in Oscar’s space and Oscar did great! No aggressive behavior, no snappy or chasing other dogs around. He was perfectly content to lay down under foster moms seat and sprawl out in the cool laminate floor.
12/13/2023 Update:
Oscar is loving his afternoon and nights cuddled up by the Christmas tree. He continues to enjoy his nightly playtime with foster moms and will let us know if he hasn’t had enough! He loves chasing his toys and playing tug a war. As always, Oscar is a huge cuddle bug and loves to sleep in bed at night.

2/10/2022 Update:
Please welcome Oscar to No Borders Bulldog Rescue. Oscar is a 2.5 yr. old male English Bulldog that weighs 56 lbs.
Oscar joins the NBBR family as an owner surrender. Oscar’s previous family had some serious family health issues that required a cross country move. Due to this move, the family decided they wouldn’t be able to take Oscar and his brother (Roscoe) with them, so they contacted NBBR and asked us to take both boys and find them new homes. The good news is that we were able to take both boys, however currently we didn’t have the luxury to keep them together in the same foster home. While not ideal, it was far better than the alternative. While the boys are “brothers” they are only related in that they have lived together. Oscar is the “pesky little brother” in the sibling dynamics.
Like every new NBBR family member/intake, Oscar’s first step was the clinic to get complete physical to determine what type of treatments will be necessary. We knew that Oscar would need to be neutered but other than that, it was a guess. When our volunteer picked up Oscar, it looked like he had some sort of eye issues going on, we weren’t sure if it was an infection, entropian or cherry eye. With Mr. O’s smooshed little face, it was hard to get a good look. Add to the smooshed face and the fact that Oscar was a wild man we left the official diagnosis to the professionals. When the professional did see him, he confirmed our suspicions and Oscar did in fact have cherry eye hiding among those folds. Oscar was very well taken care of prior to being surrendered. He was up to date on vaccines, heartworm preventative and flea/tick medication. We proactively did a Heartworm check and fecal examine since it had been several months. All tests came back as expected and Oscar got a clean bill of health. All Oscar would need would be the neuter and the cherry eye correction. He was scheduled for surgery later in the week.
When we first met Oscar, he was very excited and a bundle of energy. The day we met him to take him to his foster home, he was still a bit groggy from his surgery the previous day. (Every bulldog reacts differently to the anesthesia necessary for the surgery. Some bulldogs bounce back almost immediately, and some take a little bit longer. Oscar is definitely in the “little bit longer” camp. The clinic staff insured us that everything was fine, and he just need a little more rest from his surgery. Oscar was released from the clinic and hopped in the car with his new foster family and headed “home”. All reports are that he is doing well and resting. He encountered his two feline siblings and wasn’t overly impressed. Oscar was a definite “meh” on the cats. The good news for Oscar is that he is in a house where he will be treated like the “little prince” of the castle. We are sure he will have his foster family waiting on him hand and foot in no time, AND from all indications, there won’t be any complaints from them. Stay tuned for more detailed information on Oscar as he spends more time with his foster family, and they learn what makes him tick and what his ideal forever family looks like.
