7/25/2020 Update:

Paisley was ADOPTED!!!!   They say good things come to those who wait…. well Miss Paisley is a prime example of this.

Paisley joined the NBBR family as a stray. She was found in a part of town that is known for dumping unwanted dogs.  Paisley was “found” when she wandered up to a nearby house.  Paisley must have had good intuition as the house she picked was a HUGE animal loving household.  Even though the family was pretty sure Paisley was dumped they immediately took her to their vet to see if she was microchipped and to see if there were any immediate medical needs. No microchip was found and it was determined during her brief vet check that she had intestinal parasites. So, the family posted flyers in the area and on social media hoping Paisley had a family looking for her and had not in fact been dumped.  The family knew they would be unable to keep Paisley if no family claimed her. The family already had 12 horses, 6 dogs, two very small children and another baby on the way. To say they had their hands full was an understatement.  After waiting for a family to claim Paisley, with no luck, they contacted NBBR to ask if we could help with finding her a forever family. This was over TWO years ago.  We knew the right family was out there, but dang…. they were sure taking their sweet time. All the while, Miss P was waiting, waiting and more waiting.

Paisley’s new forever Mom started the process several months ago and was truly open to “the perfect dog for her”.  Once she was approved and we began the matching process, there were several Bulldogs that seemed to be a fit.  After much discussion, calls to foster families and processing, the list was narrowed down to three potential adoptees.   After doing matchmaking for awhile, you get a second sense as to where the adopters are leaning, but we have learned to keep our comments quiet and let the process play out. Paisley’s Mom definitely had a frontrunner (hint, it wasn’t Paisley).  During the Meet and Greet Bulldog number 1 really showed no interest in his potential new mom…. NONE.   The chemistry was just not there.  Bulldog number 2  (Paisley’s Mom’s frontrunner), arrived and while she showed some interest,  it wasn’t the “match made in heaven” that we all had hoped.  It was “meh” at best.    Enter Miss Paisley……. it was love at first sight.  Even during a pandemic and mandatory mask in place, that didn’t stop Paisley from licking her new Mom’s face (mask and all).  We, NBBR, are BIG fans of making deliberate and thought out decisions, so, Paisley’s Mom was sent home to “sleep on it” and determine which Bulldog was “the one”. This is where it can get dicey,  some adopters are so set on a particular dog that they “will make it work” no matter what the Bulldog has to say. We look for the family that IS the current best fit for all our Bulldogs.  We firmly believe that there is just that family for EVERY one of our Bulldogs. So, when the final call was made to discuss her choice,   Paisley’s Mom stated that Paisley wasn’t the Bulldog that she thought she would adopt but Paisley WAS the Bulldog she NEEDED to adopt.   Paisley’s Mom allowed her heart to make the decision and not her head (EXACTLY what we want every adopter to do).    Paisley had chosen her new Mom and Mom couldn’t say no to that.   As we said, good things come to those who wait, and Miss P is the perfect example of this.  After two years of searching for a forever family, she not only scored that but scored THE BEST home for her.  Congratulations to both Paisley and her new Mom,  we couldn’t be happier for both of you.

5/11/2020 Update:

Hi bully pals (pawls?)

It’s me, Paisley…you know, the hottest bully looking for a home? Well…when I say hot it’s because I love to lay outside in the sun when I can. I will find whatever sliver of sunshine I can and soak it up…until I get hot and need to come in for some water (and, as always, love and pets)

My FM has been working with me to go out on walks but I do not love “walking”. I like when she opens the door and I run outside but I do not run away and will always listen when she calls me back. I just need to run around a bit and I cannot really do it with this COVID I keep hearing about. I cannot wait to get to a dog park and just play! So, for now, FM takes me out on the leash…I do not pull but I do not have much interest in being out there for long. We walk around and I try to find lots of people to see as I love to say hi and get loved on by everyone.

Will you adopt me and love on me? You won’t be sorry!

Love and paw prints,

Paisley

4/27/2020 Update:

HI friends, Paisley here. Well, it’s been almost a month with my new Foster Mom and Fosister (I made that up – pretty smart for a dog) and I am settling in nicely. My FM says that I am just a big lug as I am always wanting to be near her (OK, maybe on top of her) for pets and kisses. I can get on the couch to sit near her or lay on the floor near her so I know she is always close.

She does try to take me for LONG walks (and, by long, I mean more than 2 minutes!) but I am good with short walks as I prefer a nice backyard for playing and doing my business. I already have a basketful of toys and love to take them outside (FM cannot figure out why as I have no place to actually bury them).

A few weeks ago, she said we were celebrating Passover but all I got was an empty box…what the heck is matzo anyway? She said we cannot go play at the dog park yet due to some weird rules right now but I know I will love it when I get there as I love other dogs and want to say hi to everyone I meet on my walks…after all, the more pets, the better – right?

FM did learn that I don’t like thunder and lightning…it scares me. However, she lets me get on the bed with her when it’s happening and just keeps petting me which helps me feel calmer. Then it all passes and I get to sleep in here bed.

For me, I cannot wait to find my forever family so that I can share my kisses and love with them. FM is amazed that I never bark but, trust me, Mom knows when I want something! Will you be my forever family? I hope so…I’m too cute to not share!

Love and paw prints,

Paisley

2/18/2020 Update:

Paisley has been enjoying life! It snowed in Texas and I had to take the opportunity for pictures at 1 a.m. Paisley is not a fan of cold weather and did not seem amused that I woke her up at that time to see the snow. I’ll admit, I was far more excited than she was. She gave me a few confused glances, licked the snow flakes off her nose and proceeded to walk back in the house. And, no matter how much I tell her, she will forever believe she is not a lap dog. As for the couch cover she is sleeping on, I guess she thought the floor was a more suitable place for it. She’s probably right.

10/21/2019 Update:

It’s safe to say that is has been an exciting few weeks for miss Paisley! My family and I took a week long trip to California and my aunt babysat her and my parents dog, Scooter. Everything went well except for one accident with the trash can. Nothing that too crazy. Overall, aunt Sharon said she was wonderful and enjoyed the time she had with Paisley.

Today after we got home I picked up the new puppy, Ellie. Paisley has done great with her and her high puppy energy. I think Ellie is making Paisley feel like a pup again. She can’t play nearly as long as Ellie but loves running circles in the yard with her.

9/22/2019 Update:

Paisley continues to live the easy life. She stays in the cool house because it’s just to dang hot to spend much time outside. She recently had a trip to the vet for her annual vaccinations and was given a clean bill of health. She also got to help me house sit for my parents. She enjoyed the new scenery and the big yard and made a new friend! She and the bichon, Scooter, were absolutely perfect together the entire weekend. Paisley is happiest when sleeping on the couch and playing with her toys. She is super easy going but doesn’t miss her chance for bulldog zoomies when I let her out of her kennel. She goes into her kennel perfectly as long as a cookie (treat) is involved. The cat is still obsessed with her and never misses his chance for cuddles.

6/17/2019 Update:

Hey guys, it’s Paisley!! I hope you didn’t forget about this princess. Life has been pretty slow and boring for her. Poor girl is probably getting cabin fever. Outside time has been limited due to the hot temperatures and rain that never seems to end. Unfortunately, we only get a short time of ideal “bulldog” weather in Texas.

We learned last week that Miss Paisley has an affinity for potted plants. She likes to dump them over and walk away like she stuck it to the plant somehow. It is impossible to be upset when she looks at me with those mushy bulldog eyes while I question her. I’ll give her a pass because she is too adorable to be mad at, but it is definitely something we will work on.

We recently lost her foster brother, Sampson, due to cancer. She is taking it well but I can tell she knows he is gone. She hasn’t spent much time on the couch, as she would usually get up there with him. Now she can’t tackle him on her way through the door or pester him by randomly standing over him and breathing in his face while he sleeps.

Did I ever mention she snores? ❤🐶❤

4/22/2019 Update:

Hey, it’s Miss Paisley! This sweet girl continues to be a joy. She had to spend a week boarding at the vet clinic while my family and I were on vacation. Lucky for me, it didn’t take her long to forgive me. She is enjoying the beautiful weather we’ve had lately. She makes a point to roll in the grass like a pig in mud at least once a day. Lazy Sunday’s consist of her and foster brother, Sampson, competing to see who can take up the most room on the couch. As you can see, the cat still sneaks in cuddles when she falls asleep.

1/14/2019 Update:  Miss Paisley had had a lazy couple of weeks. We found out she is not a huge fan of the cold weather. I don’t blame her. She has finally learned how to get onto the couch on her own and is very proud of herself. A few months ago Paisley and her foster brother chased a stray kitten onto my sons play set in the back yard. Of course we had to take the kitten in. In the past few weeks the kitten, Ranger, has decided that Paisley is the perfect cuddle buddy. As soon as Paisley gets comfortable on the floor Ranger takes his opportunity to snuggle with her.

10/22/2018 Update:  Paisley is happy the Bulldog weather is finally here. Needless to say, her activity level has spiked. Wednesday morning she was slow coming out of the kennel and on her way outside I noticed she was limping. We made a trip to the doctor and he diagnosed her with arthritis. She is on a round of anti-inflammatory meds and we started her on GlycoFlex treats twice a day. Of course she now acts like nothing happened. She wants to run and jump around the yard but I am limiting the time she is allowed to run to prevent her from hurting herself. She continues to be the most loveable baby ever.

10/1/2018 Update:  Paisley enjoyed the little bit of cooler weather we had but it ended too soon.  Her and her foster brother took every chance they had to chase each other in circles around the yard. The highlight of her week was getting to see everyone at the event Sunday. She had a blast! So much that she fell asleep half way through. She ate up every bit of love and attention. She also enjoyed her first ever pupachino!

8/27/2018 Update Sorry for the slow updates. Not much has changed with Paisley. She continues to be happy and playful. She got a bath and a nail trim at home. I wouldn’t say she loved it but she took it like a champ. She loves to drag her toys all over the house and play tug-o-war. She is super playful and we are looking forward to cooler weather so she might be able to get some exercise outside. Right now, it is just way too hot for her to be outside for longer than a few minutes.

7/31/2018 Update:

With the insanely hot weather miss Paisley has spent most of her time cooling on the kitchen floor. I went out of state for a few days but the babysitter assured me she was a perfect angel while I was away.

Today was a lot cooler than it has been in a long time and she definitely took advantage of it. Her and foster brother, Sampson, ran circles around the yard until I made them stop for a break.

We are working on her commands and she is able to sit and lie down but staying is the hard part.

She insists on taking her toys outside. I keep telling her that if she keeps taking them out she will not have any to play with when she is inside. She doesn’t seem to care. She is not a fan of sharing her toys. I was able to capture Sampson taking a toy and her running to retrieve it. He is a bit of a pushover and let her have it back. She definitely felt a sense of accomplishment.

6/24/2018 Update:

Paisley had an interesting week. She went to her first event and did wonderfully. She soaked up all the attention and loves and was the perfect angel I knew she would be. I was finally able to get a picture to prove she is a perfect car rider.

I am super proud of her because she seems to be getting over her trash can obsession.

Because she has proven herself to be almost perfect I have slowly started letting her stay out of the kennel while I am not home (she and my dog have access to the kitchen and bathroom). We started with an hour or two here and there just to see how she would do. Of course she did great! I decided to see how she would do over night. We had a minor incident where I was awoken to a small commotion coming from the kitchen. When I went to investigate she greeted me with a happy face and sense of accomplishment. Kitty litter was EVERYWHERE. It was my fault for not thinking about the litter box, she was just having fun. Today we tried again but before I left for work I moved the litter box. She did wonderfully and has proven that she has little need for a kennel.

This week’s favorite toy is my sons old basketball. It belongs to her now.

6/4/2018 Update:  Paisley is absolutely wonderful! She is full of energy but equally as lazy. All she wants is love and is happiest when getting her head or belly scratched. She loves rolling around the yard in the freshly watered grass. She has recently decided she likes the trash can and has a tendency to sneak and dump it over. Paisley is pretty perfect so the trash can issue is just a small blip. While she used to be perplexed by the cat, she now loves him so much that she insists on humping him any chance she gets.

5/14/2018 Update:  Princess Paisley here!

Sorry for the slow updates. It has been a crazy few weeks. Paisley had to spend some time at Dr. Hs while we went out of town. I was worried that she would be upset but the wonderful staff kept her entertained. They had nothing but great things to say about her. This sweet girl is just living the good life. She loves to run in the yard with her foster brother and doesn’t realize how big she is when she runs him over. She is OBSESSED with toys. Bones, stuffed animals, and occasionally my shoe. She craves attention and just wants to be next to someone. She will be a true blessing to anyone who is lucky enough to adopt her.

4/9/2018 Update:  Paisley here!

Princess Paisley is settling in well and enjoying the lazy life. When I picked her up from the doctor they told me that she was loaded with intestinal parasites causing bloody stool and vomiting. She is already doing so much better thanks to the giant bag-o-meds. So far we have found that she is great with kids (she gets excited and hunches but we are working on it), great with her dogs, perplexed by the cat, kennels great. She likes to hoard toys in her kennel and there is no such thing as too many belly rubs.

She definitely does not like other dogs around her food. Even if she does not eat all of it at one time she expects her foster brother to leave it alone. I honestly don’t blame her. She also confused my shoe for a chew toy but luckily I was able to stop her before complete destruction.

4/6/2018 Update:  Please welcome Paisley to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue Family.  Paisley is a 3 year old female Olde English Bulldog that weighs 54 lbs.

Paisley joins the NBBR family as a stray. She was found in a part of town that is known for dumping unwanted dogs.  Paisley was “found” when she wandered up to a nearby house.  Paisley must have good intuition as the house she picked was a HUGE animal loving household.  Even though the family was pretty sure Paisley was dumped they immediately took her to their vet to see if she was microchipped and to see if there were any immediate medical needs.   No microchip was found and it was determined during her brief vet check, she has intestinal parasites.   So, the family posted flyers in the area and on social media hoping Paisley had a family looking for her and had not in fact been dumped.  The family knew they would be unable to keep Paisley if no family claimed her. The family already had 12 horses, 6 dogs, two very small children and another baby on the way. To say they have their hands full is an understatement.  After waiting for a family to claim Paisley with no luck, they contacted NBBR to ask if we could help with finding her a forever family.

Upon joining NBBR, Paisley’s first stop was the clinic for a complete checkup.  We knew she would need to be spayed but didn’t know about anything else.  We received good news in that Paisley is Heartworm Negative. She did require all vaccines and an additional treatment for intestinal parasites.   When meeting Paisley it is very apparent she has been used as a breeding dog. Her “undercarriage”  is VERY pulled down.  This could be due to having many litters or it could be from having a litter very recently.  She was not actively producing milk when she was found.  She was spayed and Dr. H will monitor to see if removing the hormones will help with this issue.

Paisley is a very sweet and loving girl. While on her trip to the clinic she wanted to be as close to her transporter as possible. She was the happiest when she was being pet on the head. When the petting stopped, she would gently nudge with her head and her paw as if to say “why are you stopping??  I’m not going to pet myself”.   Paisley appears to get along with everyone she meets, both human and canine.  She has joined her foster home and will begin her search for a forever home that will treat her like the Princess she is.
