Stormy

Stormy

Breed: Olde English Bulldog

Sex: Female

Age:  4 years old

Weight: 55 lbs.

4/11/2021 Update:

Stormy was ADOPTED!!!   Stormy has found her forever family and couldn’t be happier.

Stormy joined the NBBR family as an owner surrender.  Stormy’s family made the decision based on several major changes in their lives.  There where health concerns and financial changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Stormy used to live in the country and while out running around it appears that she hurt her leg.   After several days of crate rest it did not seem to be improving.   The family made the decision to surrender Stormy to NBBR to ensure so she could get the proper care she needed.  After the meeting to get Stormy, it was apparent that she had injured one and maybe both of her back legs.   So, like all new intakes Stormy went directly to the clinic.  In order to properly diagnosis her leg condition, it was necessary to do a physical exam and several sets of X-rays. in addition to the leg issues. During Stormy’s previous life she had been around a lot of puppies. Because of this, she is definitely a “Momma Bear”.  Stormy appears to love everyone and everything.   She is a very energetic and playful pup for sure.   Stormy quickly became a favorite at the clinic while she was being treated.   While she needed to be on strict crate rest for her leg issue, she wanted to interact with the staff and they couldn’t resist.  She is very excitable but quickly calms down once she realizes that you are there to see her. Like many Bulldogs (and human’s alike) that suffer a joint injury, the likelihood of her developing arthritis is high.  To help minimize this, Stormy is on a joint supplement that she will need to take for the rest of her life.

While Stormy has had several Meet and Greets,  her “chemistry” with her potential forever families had been spotty at best… UNTIL this one.   While the volunteers of NBBR work tirelessly to  find the “right” family, all this is done on paper and over the phone.  It isn’t until the actual physical meeting that we allow the Bulldog to tell us, how we did.  Sometimes it is a “uh no”,  sometimes it is a “meh”, and then we get the “most definitely, these are my peeps”. We ALWAYS want the latter in this category.    Stormy’s forever Mom lives in an area of the area of the country that doesn’t have a Bulldog Rescue.   Having had a Bulldog previously, she knew the commitment it takes to be owned by a Bulldog, especially a Rescue Bulldog.   Mom was more than willing to make the drive and let the Bulldogs determine if she would be leaving with a new forever family member. Not only did Mom make the trip, but a very good friend tagged along as well.   The plan was that Mom could bond with the new Bulldog while her friend would do the driving (now THAT’s a friend). We scheduled Meet and Greets with the two Bulldogs that were the best fit.   While both Bulldogs were a good fit, Stormy was “the one” that had that special bond with her new forever Mom and the decision was made.  We did learn that Stormy prefers her car rides to be of the shorter variety.   However, with plenty of stops, walks, playtime AND the ability to sit on Mom’s lap the ENTIRE trip, Stormy was a happy girl.  The trip even included an overnight in a hotel, which Stormy handled like a pro.   Congratulations are definitely in order for both Stormy and Mom.   Here’s to many more car rides AND happy days ahead for both.  Thank you for opening your home and heart and allowing Stormy to live her best Bulldog life.

4/5/2021 Update:

This week has been an interesting one, I did something entirely new to me this week. FM took me to meet another FM with her foster bulldog to ride up and down an elevator. I did a really great job FM said, I was a little anxious for a few seconds then it was like second nature to me. I am a girly girl with a touch of tomboy in me. I hope everyone got a visit from the Easter Bunny we did. Stayed tuned to see what I have in store next week.

3/9/2021 Update:

Hello Peeps…it has been a pretty quiet week. The weather has mostly been warm and sunny so I have enjoyed that. FM laughs at me I have decided to walk backwards some times, she thinks I am being silly. I do like to entertain. My FM and FD love to rub on me they say I am so soft and my fur is so shiny. I had to go to the vet I have a little skin infection so he put be on antibiotics. FF is taking me back Saturday to be rechecked. I don’t mind they are all really nice, plus I get to ride in the car. Well better run bedtime.

2/14/2021 Update:

FM speaking today, I cannot believe no one has adopted this beautiful, sweet girl yet. She needs a caring, loving and patient family. Stormy loves to play, get rubs, and any kind of affection really[MR1] . Another quirk of Stormy’s is sometimes she walks backwards to get from point A to point B. Why you ask? I do not know. Her quirks make her no less a loving companion, so will not you apply for this beauty.

The last week was rough for all us Texans, but she was an absolute angel under horrible circumstances. We were one of the lucky ones we only lost power for about 36 hours although it felt a lot longer. I searched for a dog friendly hotel but they were all booked, luckily I have a ton of blankets which helped keep all of us cozy and warm. Stormy was a real trooper.

2/1/2021 Update:

FF tells me I am the beauty queen of Texas, I am an Olde English bulldog and a very sweet girl. FM says I have the beauty queen walk down perfect with my wiggly tush. Stormy entertains herself well, she loves her toys but they need to be super strong to keep up with this girl. I am normally very quiet except if I play with a squeaky toy. I do bark at squirrels, yappy little dogs and any noise at the front door.

I got Stormy’s toys so I could scrub them good and put them in the bathtub to dry. That silly girl wanted the toys so one was dry and I gave to her. 10 minutes later she wanted another apparently and after several quiet minutes I went to look for her she was laying on the bathroom floor looking directly at the bathtub until I came in to give her another toy. She did this on several days until all the toys were out. Stormy is very intelligent but she has quirks. She will want to set off a chair or sofa that she got up on by herself, but wants you to take her down. When you go to lift her she tenses up, not because she is being hurt I think it must be something from her past. At times she will want to walk across a room or is on a rug or bed and she gets what I call stuck, you must tap her booty and then she will take off in warp speed. Another of her quirks she bites the air but it is an anxiety issue again from her past, you just need to clap or interact with her and she stops. These are quirks that make her unique. She has no medical issues and runs like the wind. Anyone with patience, a loving and caring home would be rewarded with her love.

1/17/2021 Update:

While my week has been quiet I got in a bit of playtime and work. FM wants me to remind everyone never leave a bulldog unattended even in your fenced backyard. Bulldogs are always a target for thieves. Every bulldog equals dollar signs whether it be for resale, ransom, breeding, or baiting. It is so important to spay or neuter your bulldogs. The greatest thing you can do is rescue a bulldog like me instead of purchasing a puppy. I was used to have puppies.

I helped FM pick up around the backyard. FF has a nice big backyard for me to play and run in. FM says I am as fast as a bolt of lightning. My life in FF is wonderful but I am still looking for my forever home. I am a sweet girl and boy do I love butt scratches.

12/29/2020 Update:

We had a great week getting ready for Christmas. I offered to help FM wrap gifts. I asked FD if Santa knew where we were this year so he could drop off something for us. FD said certainly Santa  knew where we were. He said I had been really good so he knew Santa would drop off some gifts for me. FD was right I received a boat load of fun toy and Christmas cookies. FM even added something special to our meal – sweet potatoes and fresh green beans.

12/14/2020 Update:

Hello Folks! I started out the week with a spa day and let me tell you it was wonderful. Our groomer loves us and always gives us extra time to relax. Last week was wonderful and I played in the leaves in the backyard, what fun. FM is getting us ready for Christmas and she has lots of gifts to give us on Christmas Day. FF tells me I keep them on their toes because I am an active girl. I have a beautiful, silky coat. We went for a ride one day to take FB to the vet. I did not have to be seen I am perfect. I know my perfect forever family is out there. Have you filled out your application? Bye for now.

11/30/20 Update:

Stormy here well it has been a busy week at least for FM. Not only am I a beautiful girl (even my foster family says so) I have a high energy level most of the time. I love to play hard, but my favorite toy is my Nerf dog bone.  The weather has been grand this week so lots of play time outside. The leaves are falling off FF’s giant pecan tree – they float to the ground. They are all over the backyard and when I walk crunch crunch sounds… I also love to roll over in the leaves.

FM and FD say I am a real love and such a good girl. I never get into trouble and they leave me alone with FB to go out. FF says I have a few quirks. They do not understand completely when I want down from something like the couch, they go to help me, and I tense up. I am not hurting so they do not know what that is about. Also, at times I kind of freeze up like I do not know how to get off something or walk out of a room. I need a straight clear line – like a wall with nothing close to it if there is something blocking me, I go backwards. FF still loves me and works with me, and they said some family out there would be lucky to have me as a member of their family.

11/16/2020 Update:

Hi, it is Stormy I know you have been missing my updates FM has been busy. I cannot believe I have not been adopted yet, I am beautiful, smart and full of energy. While I would do better in a home with me being the only fur baby, I have lots to give. FF says I love attention – well why not. I love my toys and running around the backyard.

I am a happy girl who loves fun and being around my foster family. FM says I get excited about everything. I love to jump up on the sofa when FM is watching TV. I get up by myself but need help getting down. My ideal home is one with older children as I do not like to share toys. Squeaky toys are my favorite and I love my frisbee dog bone as it squeaks. I am the kind of girl that loves being spoiled. Some say I am stubborn because I like to get my way, but that is not a bad thing according to FF. I will thrive with a family that will provide me with lots of love and attention. If you are looking for a best friend fill out an adoption application so I can go home with you.

10/26/2020 Update:

Stormy is waiting for you – her perfect forever family. This girl is a love…. she is affectionate. She is a goofy girl who likes to walk, run, play with her favorite toy, going for rides and gives good kisses.

Stormy met some new friends at the park. She may have a few little quirks but any family would be lucky to have her. Another thing about Stormy is she is so soft. Get in your application for this sweet little girl.

10/12/2020 Update:

Stormy and Sampson update

We decided to do a update this week together. It has been a great week, we gave been playing, chilling, going on rides, and got a treat of puppy ice cream this week. The weather has been great for playing outside. Well I play and FB Sampson lays on the patio. I have to be on the lookout for those irritating squirrels at all times. FM says I am such a good girl and deserve the best forever home.

FF took us to another event Saturday at a place called The Truckyard at The Colony. It was busy, but we saw some of our fur friends. FF made us leave early it was too hot. We both crashed when we got home. FM wants to say a few words. Stormy has really come a long way and co-exist with FB. I still think she would do better in a home with no other pets and no little children. She does not chew on anything she is not suppose to. Stormy loves to chill on the sofa with us while watching TV.

Sampson is sn absolute angel. He does have bad allergies and has had his first cytopoint injection seems to help a little more but needs benadryl daily too. The best thing is Stormy and Sampson being able to live together and when we go to the store they have free reign of the house and no problems or issues. These wonderful babies are waiting for their forever homes so get those applications in now. Watch for next week’s news. Bye!

10/5/2020 Update:

I am a little sassy, but a lot loving. My FF has a big backyard and I love to run around especially chasing the squirrels. FM calls them rats and would like me to ignore them. They are too much fun to run after. The weather has been pretty nice, so we are getting extra time in the yard. Foster fur brother does not like to play he would rather lay out on the patio.

The rescue that gave me a nice place to live until I find my fur ever home has had 2 events so far. Another one is coming up Saturday so I will trot on out and strut my stuff. If I must say so myself, I am gorgeous. If you have not put in your application yet I am waiting for you. I need a home without other pets or little children. I love attention and to be loved on. FM says I am good at entertaining myself, but I love to play with the FF. Come see me Saturday and I will show you my love. Bye.

9/21/2020 Update:

The weather has been great this week, so FM has let us stay out longer especially if there is a cool breeze. I love it, running around playing with sticks, my dog bone, and oh yes those sneaking squirrels. FB does not really play much he likes to lay out on the patio and just enjoy the weather while he snoozes. FD has not been able to mow because FM broke the lawn mower. Me Stormy to the rescue, I am trimming down the grass for him. It may take a while as I can only eat so much at one time.

Thank you to everyone who donated to NBBR, it really helps take care of all our medical needs, etc. You can donate throughout the year too. FF said Fall officials starts Tuesday 9/22. Another way to help is to become a foster family we need foster families. Be sure to come to our next event, Saturday, September 26th, 1-4 pm at America Gardens, 2833 Morton Street, Fort Worth, TX 76107. You will get to see me in all my beauty

9/14/2020 Update:

Well this week has been a bit exciting for me. FM told me I was going to shine at a special event Saturday. Friday FM took me for a spa day to get me beautified for the event.  Everyone wants to see a beautiful Stormy. FF said I did pretty good at the event even though there were other bullies. I just got overly excited when a Frenchie called Pearl thought she was going to share my thunder – Oh No you are not. I do have to say it was a little too hot.

I want to remind you all I am available for adoption. I would do better with an energetic family that has a nice yard for me to play. No little children and no other fur babies. Get your application in. No Borders Bulldog Rescue is great, and we need foster families for babies like me. Oh, and more importantly, Thursday, September 17th is North Texas Giving Day please donate to NBBR. Follow the link and donate today. https://www.northtexasgivingday.org/no-borders-bulldog-rescue?fbclid=IwAR2UwaEd3JpKj_wbDjcet-77GEgQZqyN0Z_M12cBQ0R0FlD6e2U_JlKsdfk

9/7/2020 Update:

Stormy here I am living the life, this pretty girl loves her FF while waiting for my forever family to come get me. I have been busy between keeping my beautiful figure and patrolling for those squirrels. It rained for several days and when that happens no squirrels to be found. I do go out to potty in the rain if the rain is not heavy. So, like my FB I am brave too.

I have a new accessory my FF bought me, it is a pretty pink harness and I look fabulous. FD bought a cute little jersey for me to wear and let me tell you the purple looks great on me. He said I get to watch a Football game with him next Friday (TV of course). FM says we have an event to go to so I can show off my cute little self. She said there would be people who might want to adopt me, so let me know if you are there and I can check you out. I need a forever family who does not have any other fur babies and no children under 12. I am a go getter and I might knock over a little one accidently. I am still going over applications so if you have not put one in get it in fast. Goodbye

8/31/2020 Update:

Hi potential adopters this is Stormy, it has been a scorcher of a week. There was a couple of mornings that there was a cool breeze and FM let us stay out a bit longer. I like to run around and try and get the squirrels but on these hot Texas days FM only lets us out to take care of our business. She is no fun at all…..

Something exciting this week happened we got to go for a ride of a new place. FF said it was Starbuck’s and they had a special little treat for me wow. After FD ordered his drink, he asked for 2 Puppuccinos. Not sure at this point what a Puppuccino is but when we pulled up to the window the man gave FD 2 small cups. As soon as we got home FM put the contents of the cups on a plate for us. Boy, that white stuff is delicious. I could go for one of those every day.

Do not forget I am looking for that special fur ever family, who will appreciate this beautiful girl. Bye until next week.

8/24/2020 Update:

Stormy here bringing you news about my cute self. FM is proud of me; I am so well behaved. I don’t like doors, FM thinks someone locked me up lots behind a door, so she said any family that is lucky enough to take me home needs to make sure I can roam free and not close me up behind a door. I chew on toys but not on anything else. Shoes are safe from me.

I am still a bundle of energy and would love someone to play and run around with. FM and FD have left my foster brother and me at home free to run around and play while they ran errands. There were no mishaps while they were gone. FM gave us a reward when they got home, we got some tasty ice cream, yummy. FM and FD love to rub me they say I have the soft hair and it is so shiny. Get those applications in so you can take me home. Goodbye and have a great week.

8/10/2020 Update:
Stormy here I must say I am looking great. I have some nice little curves. How could anyone not want to take me home? FM says I am a good girl, who gets into mischief every so often. I just do not want to share toys and I do not like for doors to be closed. I like to see everything, so do not put be behind a closed door. Other than toys and doors I am a very good girl.

I was pampered on Friday with a spa day one that is reserved for a girly girl like me. FM says I have the softest jet-black coat. We took a nice ride to a park on Saturday and I got to play with FD. It was great I had him all to myself. Sunday, we drove back to the part where I met a nice couple and got to play with them for a while. Once we returned home FM got out a sprinkler, she bought for us to play in, but I did not want to get my soft coat wet. Goodbye until next week.

7/26/2020 Update:

Stormy here we are doing a post with my foster brother this week. I drove FM crazy this week trying to climb up her giant pecan tree to catch those dang squirrels. FM says I am a ball of energy, not sure what she means. I do like to go go go….

Sampson my foster brother likes to sleep a lot. He is nice, but he can’t have the toys. The FF decided they would buy 2 of each toy no problem right. Well not always… I am a chewer, I admit it. I like to chew toys and sticks. FM says no to the sticks though, I sometimes sneak a few chews before she sees me. She also says I must have tough strong toys to chew on.

I don’t chew on shoes or anything I am not suppose to. FF family went to the store so they put Sampson and myself in separate bedrooms with water, toys, and TV to enjoy. The problem is they close the doors. I am a girl that likes to roam. So what does a girl do – find a way to get out and I did, then I rescued Sampson. The FF was shocked when we met them at the door. Girls gotta be girls. So Sampson and I will meet up with you need week.

7/20/2020 Update:

Stormy is a ball of energy so she wants FM to report this week as she is busy playing. She is a sweet loveable little girl. She likes to play with toys, run, bark, eat, and sleep. She is quite the chewer, so her toys need to be indestructible. She has not chewed on anything she is not supposed to though only toys. Even though she has arthritis most days you do not even know she has it. She plays dodge ball with the squirrels in out backyard. The squirrels climb the Pecan tree and throw half eaten pecans at her. She in turns tries her best to get at them.

She loves food and snacks on bananas, cantaloupe, pineapple, watermelon. Stormy even loves fresh green beans and occasionally for dessert will have a frosty paw. It would be best for her to be in a home where she is the only pet. She is very possessive of toys so that would rule out any small children too. She loves to be outside and it is not easy to get her back in the house because she wants to play. Her fur ever family needs to have time to play with her daily. She is not only adorable but loving, so you should consider her for your family.

7/14/2020 Update:

I love to play, and FF says I am a blaze of fire or an energizer bunny whatever that is. I do like to play and am a high energy little girl. I love to play with toys and twerk my bootie when I am happy and excited. Oh heck, I twerk my cutie bootie all the time. I am a crazy sweet girl.

FM does not want me to stay outside too long the heat is so bad this time of year. The problem is I want to chase the squirrels and be outside. I love to sunbath, but FF says a big NO right now. There is no stick in the yard that is safe from me. I love to chew on them, but FM makes sure I do not get hurt.

I want to remind you all that asphalt burns our paws. FM wants me to tell you about the 5 second rule. If you are unsure if it is too hot to walk your dog on pavement, here is a good test. Set down your barefoot on the pavement or place the back of your hand down on it, if it is too hot for you it is too hot for us.

I am a sweetheart, but I can be ornery I torment my FB sometimes. I do not want to share the toys, so FM said we are really going to be working on that. I love to lay on the couch next to FM. She gives me belly rubs and I reward her with licks on her hands and arms. Well it is time for bed, talk to you next time.

7/6/2020 Update:

Stormy truly is a sweet girl, but she is very independent. She is very active all day long and loves playing with toys. Sharing toys is not her thing, so foster fur brother is the loser when it comes to the toys even though there are plenty to go around. Stormy is a little sassy and has the cutest wiggle butt.

Stormy was not happy about fireworks going off next door. In fact, they upset her quite a bit. Lots of thunder and lightning bother her too, but if you are right next to her is fine. I think Stormy would do better in a home with no other pets. She does have some arthritis and has started on medication in addition to joint supplements. The arthritis doesn’t stop she runs really fast. Stormy was too busy going through applications to comment this week. This sweet girl is looking for her forever family.

6/15/2020 Update:

Please welcome Stormy to No Borders Bulldog Rescue.   Stormy is a 4 year old female Olde English Bulldog that weighs 55 lbs.

Stormy joins the NBBR family as an owner surrender.  Stormy’s family made this decision based on several major changes in their live. In order to properly diagnosis her leg condition, it was necessary to do a physical exam and several sets of X-rays. in addition to the leg issues,  Stormy has had at least a couple of litters of puppies and needs to be spayed.  The good news is that Ms. S tested negative for Heartworms.  Stormy did have an intestinal infection that will require a course of antibiotics and needed to have her vaccinations updated.

During Stormy’s previous life she has been around a lot of puppies. Because of this she is definitely a “Momma Bear”. She will be joining her Foster Family tomorrow and will be on a strict 5 letter regimen:  R & R and TLC.  There doesn’t appear to be any long term impact to Stormy’s health moving forward.   Like many Bulldogs (and human’s alike) that suffer a joint injury, the likelihood of her developing arthritis is high.  To help minimize this we have already put Stormy on a joint supplement, that she will need to take for the rest of her life.   Stormy is a great girl that is at the beginning of a new chapter for her, finding a forever family that will pamper her and allow her to blossom into the Bulldog that she was always meant to be.
