3/31/2018 Update:

Venus was ADOPTED!!!!! It is with great pleasure we are able to announce we have another happy ending and Venus has found her forever family.

Venus and her sister Serena joined the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family as owner surrenders. The sisters were purchased to be part of a breeding program. However, when both sisters had their first heat, it was discovered they both had a prolapsed uterus. This condition required an emergency spay for both girls.  Because they were no longer able to be bred, the family decided to sell them.  A guardian angel stepped in and rescued the girls and then surrendered them to NBBR to help them find their forever family. While Venus and Serena were litter mates, and did arrive together, they did not appear to be a bonded pair.  Since we didn’t have a foster family that could take both of them (one Frenchie puppy is A LOT of work, let alone two), they were sent to separate foster homes.  While at her foster home it was apparent Venus likes other dogs and would do best in a home with a canine sibling for her to run and play.

Venus’s forever family didn’t even apply specifically for her.  Actually they applied several months earlier. They had had a Frenchie in the past and thought another Frenchie might be a good fit, but were open to whatever dog seemed to be the best fit.  The family did have one “small”, well not so small, variable in the equation.  The families’ current pet is a Great Dane that missed her Frenchie sister. Once approved, they wanted to make sure the Great Dane would accept the new addition. One concern we had was the size differential, but since the Great Dane was used to having a much smaller sibling, Venus was up for a Meet and Greet.  In true Frenchie fashion, Venus was the one calling the shots. She decided quickly that the big Great Dane was a cool big sister and would be a perfect play companion. AND if that wasn’t hitting the jackpot, Venus also scored a new forever Mom, Dad and human sisters to keep her busy.  Congratulations to Venus and the entire crew.

3/18/2018 Update:

Venus has had a great week! Her and her foster sister are enjoying the new place with the foster mom and love that there’s more room to chase each other around in. Venus loves to sunbath in front of the patio door when she’s not running around the room lol. She went to the dog park this past weekend and really showed her love of fetching a ball. She is fast and loves chasing after it! She’s even good at bringing it back to you. She’s such a sweetheart and loves to be held and cuddled. She sits in foster mom’s lap while she works at her computer and likes to say hi to co-workers during conference calls. Her potty training is going really well and she’s only had one accident in the past week! She’s happiest when she has her toys, especially anything that squeaks 🙂

Venus can’t wait to meet her forever family!

3/5/2018 Update:

Hi Everyone!

It’s Venus again giving you all a weekly update on what’s going on in my little life 🙂

First of all, I am loving this sunshine because it has meant I get to go to the DOG PARK every morning! I am lucky enough to live a block away from it and my foster mom walks me and foster sis there so we can run in circles. I just love sprinting and cutting donuts around my foster sis. She tries to keep up , but I can usually leave her in the dust. I am fast!

Potty training has been going so well and foster mom thinks I am 100% trained! I would like to thank my foster sis for showing me the ways and for the potty tips that get you more treats 🙂 I may have worked the system just a little…shhhh.

I have also learned I really love cuddles from the foster mom and can sit in her lap while she works on her computer AND I even get to peep in on video conference calls and say hi to everyone. They really love that!

I can’t wait to meet everyone at the brewery this weekend and maybe I will get lucky enough to meet my forever family <3

Until next time,

Venus

2/27/2018 Update:  Hi! Venus here giving everyone a quick update.

I’ve had the best week, besides all of this rain putting a damper on my outdoor play time. I did however get to go to doggy day care because of it! My foster mom took my foster sister and I there so we could run around while it was pouring and I LOVED it! I had the best time running around chasing all the other dogs and even made friends with another French Bulldog. When foster mom picked me up, she decided it was bath time. Not a fan. Nope, no baths for me thanks! I think I smell just fine:) Some other happenings have been giving the foster mom a near heart attack due to my curiosity with rocks. I just can’t help but try to put each one I see in my mouth. I think it’s pretty fun, but her not so much haha!
Until next time, hope you have a great week and still hoping to find my forever home soon

2/20/2018 Update:  Hi everyone!

It’s Venus checking in. I’ve gotten very comfy here at my foster home with my foster sister, Layla! My foster mom can agree that I am probably the wild child of the family 🙂 I like to zip around everywhere and make sure I know what’s happening in the house at all times. I am always on high alert to catch any crumbs that may drop on the floor or really anything else that gets dropped…socks right out of the dryer are some of my favorite (short-lived) toys.

I get along great with my foster sister and we play allllll day. We run and jump on each other and play tug-of-war with stuffed animals. My foster mom noticed how much I loved my Benebone that she bought more so we could each have one, but we prefer to just chew on the same one at the same time. We don’t mind sharing!

My foster mom tells me that even though I am a wild child, I am very sweet! I love putting my front paws on her legs because that’s how I ask for my favorite chin scratches and head rubs. She also thinks I’m a goofball. She’s nicknamed me “crouching tiger” because of my coloring and the way I crouch down and walk when I am unsure of something. I look a little scared at times, but it’s just how I check out things. I love meeting new people and other dogs around where I live. I even have other bulldogs as neighbors!

Hope everyone has a great week! I will be here patiently waiting to meet my perfect forever family!

2/4/2018  Update:  Hi everyone! It’s me, Venus, giving you my first update!

I’m getting settled in nicely with my foster mom and sister. There’s been a lot of changes in my life over the past few days, so it’s going to take me some time to get comfortable with all the new things. I’m very shy and timid, but luckily I have my foster sister, Layla, to keep me company. I’m learning to walk on a leash next to Layla and she’s a really good teacher. I follow her lead and she shows me how to go in and out of the elevator (I don’t trust those stairs yet). Layla and I play a lot and we are really good at sharing our toys and bones and don’t get upset at each other. I have found that I LOVE getting my head scratched and can’t help but make little snort noises when my foster mom pets me 🙂 She says I’m very sweet and a good girl for going potty outside and gives me treats when I do! I haven’t had any accidents in the house, so I’m getting all of the treats right now 😉
I’m looking forward to meeting my forever family and will keep you all updated with how I’m doing each week. Until next time!

2/3/2018 Update:

Please welcome Venus to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family. Serena is a 10 month old female French Bulldog that weighs 18 lbs.

Venus and her sister Serena joined the No Borders Bulldog Rescue as owner surrenders.

The first thing everyone asked is “Was that their original names?”  The answer is: NO.  Both sisters had horrible names neither of them knew.  So we set out to find a pair of sisters that were strong, power, beautiful and positive role models.  And we decided on Venus and Serena.

In true NBBR fashion, the sisters were several hours away and required the coordination of volunteers to get them to the DFW area.  This was quickly arranged with the help of a previous adopter who stepped in to help.

The first stop for Venus was the clinic.  She was brought up to date on vaccinations and had a quick check-up.  Venus was in tip top shape except she has an intestinal parasite and skin infection that will require a course of antibiotics.

It appears Venus is the wild sister. Venus goes a mile a minute and is always looking for her next adventure. Venus joined her permanent foster home and is settling in nicely. Stay tuned for more details.
