11/21/2019 Update:

Woodrow was ADOPTED!!!! Thanksgiving is all about love and spending time with family and that is exactly what Woodrow will be doing, with his FOREVER family.

Woodrow joined the NBBR family as an owner surrender.   Woodrow’s previous owner had some serious family issues and it was determined that he was in no condition to care for Woodrow. No other immediate family members were able to take care of Woodrow either, so the decision was made to allow Woodrow to find a new forever family.  An extended member of Woodrow’s family called NBBR and asked if we would be willing to help this little guy find a forever home.  After meeting Woodrow’s family to surrender him, his next stop was the clinic.   After contacting all the vets in his town, no vet records could be located for Mr. W.  It was apparent that Woodrow would need cherry eye surgery and after listening to him for a VERY short time, it appears that he would need palate surgery as well as needing neutered.  Woodrow had all of his surgeries and after a quick recovery period he joined his foster family and began settling in nicely.

Woodrow’s new forever parents are the perfect fit for him.  They have been previously owned a Bulldog, so they know exactly what to expect AND what Woodrow would require.   They actually initially began their journey with NBBR as adopters.   But after discussing with the NBBR staff the dire need for fosters, they decided to enroll in the foster to adopt program.  They wanted to help as many Bulldogs as possible and took in their first foster (Woodrow).  After the initial “getting acquainted” period, it was determined that they would be in fact fostering to adopt Woodrow.   Woodrow had become comfortable and his parents had fallen in love with him.  In true giving fashion, his parents not only decided to adopt Woodrow but to foster another Bulldog with NBBR.  So, currently Woodrow has two devoted forever parents AND a foster brother to help burn off some of that excess energy.  This is a season of family and being thankful for those closest to you. Woodrow now can be just that, THANKFUL for a family that lets him be the Bulldog he was meant to be. Congratulations are definitely in order for the entire family.

9/29/2019 Update:

Woodrow has a new love: rides in the car. So much so he will lie down by the garage door hoping someone will go outside and take him for a ride. He will jump into the car at the first opportunity! He is learning “stay”. At the park he will sit and stay and I can ran away for about 20 yards. He won’t come until I call him. So smart and treats are motivating!

8/11/2019 Update:

From Woodrow’s foster parents:

He is starting to really settle in. He is still very high energy as you saw at Hollywood Feed last weekend. He has a good appetite but not food motivated when it comes to training. He really thrives on attention! When he gets excited he does tend to chew/nibble on hands & feet. We are working on this! We try to divert his chewing to his bone or Kong. He is also very athletic! I’ve never seen a bulldog jump so high. We are also working on this with him also. He is great sleeping in the crate! Never barks or cries. One of his cute quirks is hiding under the bed in the morning when we get ready. (My female bully used to do this! It’s my Lola reincarnated!) We gave him a shower last Saturday and he did great! He really is a pleaser. We love this little guy!

8/4/2019 Update:

Woodrow is doing great! He sleeps well in his crate. He is calming down. His poops are getting more firm since he had diarrhea. He is great on a leash and learning some commands.

7/24/2019 Update:

Please welcome Woodrow to No Borders Bulldog Rescue. Woodrow is a 1.5 year old male English Bulldog that weighs 40 lbs.

Woodrow joins the NBBR family as an owner surrender.

W.  It was apparent that Woodrow would need cherry eye surgery and after listening to him for a VERY short time, it appears that he will need palate surgery as well (we will know for sure once he is sedated and able to be evaluated in more depth), he will also need to be neutered, brought up to date on vaccines and tested for Heartworm and intestinal worms.  Woodrow has been scheduled for his surgeries later this week.

While at the clinic Woodrow has already earned the nickname “lil nugget”. Not one, but two of the staff mentioned his pint size figure when they met him.  While he might be a pint size little nugget, he is overflowing with personality.  He has energy for days and wants to RUN everywhere. During his welcome photoshoot he could not be bothered to sit still, he needed to sniff EVERYTHING.  Woodrow has two speeds, resting and full throttle.  Woodrow grew up in a home with kids, other dogs and cats.  It is reported that Woodrow’s two best friends at his previous home were two tiny kittens that he played with EVERY day and even like to take naps with them on occasion.  After his surgeries are complete, Woodrow will be joining his foster family for some R & R.  Once he has fully recuperated, he will begin his journey to find that special family that will be able to handle his energy and give him the forever home that he is looking for.
