Please welcome Zeus to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue.   Zeus is a 6-year-old, male English Bulldog that weighs 47 lbs. 

Zeus joins the NBBR family by way of owner surrender.  Zeus’ family has had a change in their financial situation and had to make the difficult decision to allow Zeus the opportunity to find a home that could provide the care he needed.  Zeus was loved and cared for to the best of their ability, but due to his conditions it had become too much for them.  They reached out to NBBR and asked if we would be able to help.   While we are typically full, we did have an open foster home and they were a great fit for Zeus, so we were able to bring him in as the newest family member. 

After the logistics were ironed out and Zeus’ family met our volunteer, his first stop was the clinic to get a full health check.  We received a mixed bag of results. The first issue was that Zeus was diagnosed as Heartworm Positive in late 2025 and started on treatment. However, due to the cost of the treatment, it was not completed.  So, when we tested him, we received an unusual report. It was decided to send a sample to the reference laboratory to determine the next steps.  In addition to that Zeus has a pretty bad case of skin infections.  He has both bacterial and fungal infections currently and has been started on both antibiotics and antifungals to treat the current infections. It is likely that this condition is due to underlying allergies that caused excessive scratching that lead to it becoming infected.  We will be following up on the underlying allergies to address the source of the problem.  The good news was that he was negative for all GI parasites.   Zeus also needed to be brought up to date on his vaccines and given a microchip.  Both of which have been completed. 

Zeus is a pretty chill little guy.  We are waiting to see if that is his overall personality or is he subdued due to his conditions.  His skin infections have also spread to his feet, so he has a paw that appears to be painful for him to walk on currently. (Dr. H examined him and there doesn’t appear to be any issues with bone structure or the muscles, just that the paw is sore and he is favoring it) The medication mentioned above will address this as well.  So, currently Zeus is settling into his new foster digs, and all is going well. Zeus is an explorer, so he has been working overtime exploring every nook and cranny in the joint to make sure it meets his high standards. When not exploring, he can be found lounging on his bed or giving his foster dad some impressive side eye.  Stay tuned for more details as Zeus begins his journey to find his forever home.
