8/19/2017 Update:  Crash was ADOPTED!!! We are extremely pleased to announce Crash has found his forever family.

Being a “senior” Bulldog, Crash’s odds of finding a forever family were much smaller than his younger counterparts. However, Crash has beaten the odds and found “the one”.  Crash was surrendered to NBBR as an owner surrender 5 months ago. His journey to a forever home had a few bumps to be sure.  Crash had separation anxiety and was too much to handle for 2 foster families.  This anxiety appeared to be rooted in the fact he was with his previous owners since he was 8 weeks old.  After changes in their life, his Mom decided he was no longer wanted.

Who knew Crash’s anxiety would be a blessing in disguise? But that is exactly how it turned out to be.  When Crash’s second foster family could no longer devote the time needed to Crash, NBBR decided some professional training might help Mr. Crash. Crash went to a professional trainer to work on his anxiety issues and ultimately met his forever Mom.  Crash’s forever Mom and his trainer are one and the same. While Crash and his trainer were working on manners and behavioral modifications, a love affair was starting.  Crash bonded immediately with his forever Mom and wanted nothing more than to please her.  To say the timing was on his side is an understatement.  Crash’s forever Mom had lost a much loved dog several months previous. She knew when the time was right to adopt again, she would be ready and would know when the right dog crossed her path.  This story has multiple happy endings, the first being thanks to all the training and love Crash received he no longer has the anxiety he once had, the second being a beautiful senior Bulldog found his forever home where he will be loved and cherished for exactly who he is.

Congratulations to Crash and his new forever family.

7/25/2017 Update:   Crash is continuing to make great strides.  He is not displaying any signs of separation or isolation distress.  He has really just been a happy-go-lucky part of the pack.  Crash is loved by everyone and he loves them with slobbery kisses in return.  Crash has been working on fine-tuning his “tricks-list”.  He can sit, lay down, wait, stay, leave it…..AND PLAY IN WATER (his personal favorite).  The perfect home for this guy would still be one where his person works from home or could take him to work with them….and NO CATS.  Is it you??

7/7/2017 Update:  Crash is ready to make a landing at your pad!  This guy has been with the rescue for 4 months and is looking for just the right fit.  Crash really needs to find a home where his person is around most of the day.  He has struggled with some separation anxiety but he has been working with a professional to help him cope while his person is away.  He is improving with great strides, but would still be a best fit for a home-body.  Are you retired?  Do you work from home? Can you bring your dog to work? Then do we have the cuddle bug for you!  This guy wants nothing but to be loved and to be with his person. He has wonderful house manners (well….an occasional marking incident) and he walks great on a leash. Crash does great with other dogs, older kiddos, but no cats for this guy.  If you are interested in making this guy a part of your family please fill out an adoption application

6/11/2017 Update: Crash is doing amazing! He loves his foster sister and cousin and they love how he “protects” them on their walks on the country farm. At his age, he’s still full of energy and loves to play in the water with his foster brother , play with balls, go for rides, and being with people in general. After a days worth of fun he loves sleeping hogging the bed to sleep with either his foster sister or parents!

On a side note: he does struggle a tad with separation anxiety.  He doesn’t like being left alone.

5/14/2017  Update:  Crash has had a decent 7 days. He did have a few hiccups with anxiety issues this week but has been redirected and back on track with both of us knowing a little more information about each other. This little bowling ball remains in love with water so he absolutely has to be under constant supervision near the pool due his swimming style (which is nonexistent). So, anyone with a pool would need to keep this in mind when entertaining the idea of adoption.

He still feels that he should protect all of our family members from the pool floats who seem to be ferocious to him and will bark and attempt to pop them if they get close to him. At this point the score is Crash 6: Pool Floats 1. Yes that is correct, that little sneaky dude has ninja skills and has bested 6 pool floats.
We are still navigating anxiety provoking incidences. Typically Crash can be redirected with a positive activity like playing soccer or tug with his rope or even get him to visualize something else. This weekend however, during some yard work he became fearful of a red wheelbarrow and became mouthy. This may be interpreted as aggressive to someone when his behavior stems more from fear because once settled and calm you can reintroduce the item and let him get acquainted with it and he will warm up to it.
It seems Crash is still not a fan of cats. Also, Crash views squirrels in the cat family. Crash is not an optimal candidate for a home with cats. Crash is strong and can bully his way through most blockades if determined enough and a gate unless secured to the wall, is still not something that keeps him out of something.
Belly bands are still essential if unsupervised in the home. Crash is a guy’s guy and if given the choice would rather hang out with a male figure than sit around and do girly things. Crash still remains a lover of his blanket and absolutely insists it goes with him wherever he goes. We have come to an agreement that the blanket stays inside and he is granting me that one convenience at this time.
Crash is learning new things daily and is a comical little fellow. He is loving and full of energy. He is patiently awaiting his forever family and we are enjoying helping him along with this process

5/10/2017 Update:  Crash continues on the road to more controlled, positive behavior and is learning that new things just might not be as bad as they might first appear. He is loosening up and becoming a little less anxious during moments of separation and a little more tolerable of the things that used to make him fearful. The things that are still triggers for Crash: pool floats, the pole for the pool net/brush, scary wheelbarrows, and being able to see you but not be in the room with you (outside looking in through a glass door, being on the other side of a wooden fence and seeing you through the cracks and hearing your movements but not getting to you). He is better about being redirected and returns to his love bug self quickly these days and refrains from pacing and panting. Side note, Crash will not mingle well in a home with cats. To him, cats are the enemy and he will try his best to rid the area of them. Crash seems to think that cats are a deal breaker in his partnerships.

Now let’s talk about the things he loves: water in any form, pool, water hose, water bowl, puddle at the dog park, you name it and he will wallow in it. His absolute favorite things in this world are his blanket which he still carries from room to room and playing ball. He is a soccer player by nature. Don’t expect this fella to play fetch. He is only wanting you to kick and let him do his own ball handling maneuvers. Crash seems to be a “guys guy”. He would do well in a home where there is a strong male presence. Crash also does well with older kiddos. His anxiety, panting and being a little mouthy around objects that he deems frightening tends to make little ones intimidated.

All in all Crash continues to be in rockstar status and is giving it 100% on achieving the “good boy” award. He has had a fabulous week.

4/24/2017 Update:   Crash made his debut  this weekend and missed his opportunity to be on the news because of the so very scary camera. Otherwise Michelle said he made numerous friends.

He is still coming into his comfort zone and has become more playful and secure in his surroundings here. He remains the faithful blanket loving bowling ball and just wants to cuddle. He truly lives up to his name, he barrels into anything in his path.
He is a constant comical adventurer who rocks a bow tie constantly.

4/17/2017 Update:

This past week has been busy for our household with a crazy work schedule and a busy, family filled weekend. Crash was introduced to a new dog this weekend unexpectedly and he did well. He still shows signs of stress in new situations like panting with no real exertion or not leaving your side but he settled much more quickly and ended up playing with his new grind before the day was over.

Crash has a fondness for water. He wants to be in it every opportunity it’s available. We have had to really work with him about the pool and he is officially someone who needs to be watched because he will just barrel right in. He love, love, loves the water hose and wants to chomp at the water.
He remains a snuggle bug and gets anxious if separated for too long but that is improving. An ideal situation for this bowling ball of love would be a family with plenty of laps to snuggle against and hands free for petting. He enjoys being chatted up and is super expressive in his interactions back with you. This boy sure loves his peeps.

3/27/2017 Update: Crash is working on some behavior tasks but all in all has had a decent week. He still needs a belly band for his potty mistakes (he gives you a subtle warning at night time but has days when the 8 hours of sleep is more than he is willing to hold. He will not use the bathroom in a kennel but not so serious about it when left out in the open so a belly band has become his saving grace. The anxiety is improving with new things but he has separation anxiety still. He barks if separated from you until he can touch you again. He remains a complete snuggle buddy and is a quite the soccer player. He really tries to convince you to tuck him under the covers and if left to his own devices will tunnel and scoot until he gets under the covers with you. He is quite the clown and brings comedic relief constantly.

3/22/2017 Update:

He seems to be mellowing out a little with just a few quirky personality issues that seem to be driven from his  insecurities.
The ideal forever home  for Crash will be a house that is calm since anything out of his normal activities makes him fearful and he runs up to  it and mouths it. He has never charged a person, let me be clear, he has however protected me from some vicious blinds, a pesky window screen, his nemesis the pool net and the pool vacuum. So basically sudden loud noises or things on sticks.
When visitors come to visit he is anxious and rapidly pants and never really settles until they leave. I honestly believe he will be a more mannered soul with some consistency and the security of knowing he is in HIS home.
3/17/2017 Update: He seems to be settling in nicely although, any new situation or something he views as “threatening” such as a pool dip net or the menacing big blue recycle box Mr Crash turns into a very anxious boy and may try to snap at the object. He is easily redirected though and we have learned how to introduce him to new things slowly.
He continues to be a love bug and wants to be exactly where you are.  A minor issue he is showing right now is that even though you might just be on the other side of a fence, glass door, or going to get the mail out front he will bark until you come back. He just wants to be with his people. We are working on that behavior but I feel like just giving him an opportunity to finally be secure in one place will settle those fears a bit. He kennels nicely without any debate.
Even though he is stiff after a nap that doesn’t put a damper on this boy’s curiosity. He is so intrigued by anything you are doing and once the fear of the task is under control for him he is immediately immersed into figuring out what’s happening and he usually does this by putting his face right in the middle of it. He is a lover of the water hose and wants to be in the stream of that water as much as you will let him.
I will say this though, he probably wouldn’t do as well in a home with a dog that needs to be dominant over him or might become aggressive with him and his stubborn streak to prove his status. He spent his first few days here proving he is the dominant over our dog Atticus. While Atticus is much larger than Crash being half lab/half great dane, Crash’s short stature is packed full of strong will and perseverance until he finally convinced Atticus that Crash may in fact be a better leader. Luckily Atticus is as docile as they come and has it in his mindset that he is the size of a tea cup yorkie and was happy to become Crash’s newest groupie member.
All in all, Crash would make the most loving companion. His main goals in life are snuggling, being your shadow, playing tug with his rope and figuring out all of the curious things in his world. So if someone needs a pup who is completely enamored by their person, then Crash is your fella.

3/13/2017 Update:

Please welcome Crash to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family. Crash is a 7 year old male English Bulldog that weighs 60 lbs.

Crash joined the NBBR as an owner surrender yesterday.  He had been with the same family since he was 8 weeks old, but due to family circumstances changing, the decided it was best that Crash find a new forever home.  His previous family actually called us last week ready to surrender Crash, but at the last minute they tried one last plan. They didn’t to have to make the very difficult decision to surrender Crash without trying every possible avenue. Unfortunately, that last ditch effort to keep Crash didn’t work and they had to make the very hard decision to do what was best for Crash and allow him to find a new forever home where he will receive the love and attention he needs.

Crash spent his first night with one of our volunteers so that he could go to the vet first thing in the morning.  We received GREAT news in that Crash appears to be a very healthy 7 year old Bulldog.  He does have some signs of slight arthritis. Crash is a little stiff when first getting up from a nap.  After a clean bill of health from the clinic it was on to his new foster family.

To say that Crash is a “Velcro” pup would be a HUGE understatement. The one common thing about Crash from both families that have spent time with him is that “he wants to be by your side 100% of the time”.  Crash is a complete cuddle bug and wants to be by his humans every minute he can. He is potty trained and a complete gentleman in the house. Crash gets along well with other dogs.  It appears that Crash is just the PERFECT bulldog.  He is ready to begin the next chapter in his life by finding his last and forever home.  Do you have extra room on your couch and in your heart for a true southern gentleman?  Then Crash would be the perfect fit.
